Chapter 18: Arranging Rooms

~6 min read 1,061 words

Because the Prince of Wales had to go to the office, Qin Ge took his two shipgirls home, but to avoid wasting time they decided to first go to the library. Since he had specially done remedial lessons yesterday, on the way he was fairly familiar with the academy's buildings, so he introduced them to his shipgirls while answering their questions.

"Commander, I just overheard your conversation with the Prince of Wales—are you a freshman who just enrolled this year?" Nengdai said to Qin Ge.

"Yes, that's right, so you two are my initial shipgirls." Qin Ge replied with a smile.

"But why do you still have to prepare lessons? Isn't that something only teachers can do?" Nengdai asked.

Qin Ge explained, "It's like this, because…" He told the two shipgirls how he came to the academy and how he accidentally became an assistant teacher. "So I am not only a freshman cadet, but also the interim instructor for the academy's campaign tactics theory course—that is, an assistant teacher."

"Commander, you're amazing! As a freshman you can already teach others—I'll definitely study hard with you from now on." The Banrenma beside him, hearing Qin Ge's account, said excitedly.

"It's nothing, I just read a bit more before and have some personal views on certain tactics. But that's just more theory on paper—if real fighting breaks out, we still have to rely on your performance." Qin Ge, blushing from the Banrenma's praise, quickly waved his hands and said.

"Commander, you don't need to be modest. Although we haven't been together long, from your initial plan to summoning the Banrenma, everything followed your own planning. You remained calm, weren't dazed by summoning two ultra‑rare shipgirls, and have your own ideas about future tactical training—all of which show you're an excellent commander." Nengdai said to Qin Ge.

"Yeah, I feel the same—you're really impressive, Commander." The Banrenma beside him also smiled.

Qin Ge chuckled, "Being praised by you makes me a little embarrassed, and since we'll be living together from now on, this is just normal routine—I only hope you won't think I'm too strict."

"No, living with someone who plans ahead is quite enjoyable." Nengdai said.

"Hehe, I'm glad you'd say that." Qin Ge smiled, then turned his head toward the building not far ahead and said, "Well, that's the library over there. We'll go borrow a few books, then head home to tidy up your rooms."

"Hmm." The two replied in unison.

As soon as they entered the library, having a clear goal, Qin Ge didn't wander aimlessly; he found the books he needed and then completed the registration at the front desk.

It's worth noting that the library's administrator is a human woman; she was still a bit surprised to see Qin Ge here. However, after seeing his assistant instructor badge and hearing his explanation, she understood the situation and promptly registered the book titles, then handed the books to Qin Ge.

After leaving the library, the three walked home along the main road, chatting and laughing, making things quite lively. From this time Qin Ge could tell that the Banrenma's personality was more outgoing and modest, while Nengdai's was somewhat more rational, not easily showing her feelings. Or perhaps it's just because they were only just summoned, so they're not yet familiar?

Although he had these doubts, Qin Ge would not proactively ask Nengdai about them. He believed that only after living together and learning each other's habits could he draw conclusions—after all, it's still too early.

"Is this where we'll be living from now on?" the Banrenma said, standing beside Nengdai and looking expectantly at Qin Ge as he opened the door ahead.

"Yeah, this is the house the school assigned me. For the next two years we'll spend most of our time here." Qin Ge pushed open the side door, turned his head with a smile toward the two, and said, "Come in."

"Hmm." The Banrenma nodded, and together with Nengdai walked into the house; their first impression upon entering was, "Very tidy."

Qin Ge smiled and said, "I just moved in yesterday, so I cleaned up inside and out. Your rooms are on the second floor—come with me."

"All right, Commander!" the Banrenma immediately replied, and together with Nengdai followed Qin Ge's steps up to the second floor.

Upon reaching the second floor, Qin Ge first opened his own room door, placed all the books borrowed from the library on the desk and arranged them. Then he smiled and led the two to the neighboring room, saying, "There are four rooms on the second floor; I'm using one, and I've cleaned the other three—you can pick whichever you like. Of course, since you're both girls, if you find it inconvenient for me to stay on the second floor, I can move down to the first floor."

Hearing Qin Ge's words, the two shook their heads in unison, "No problem, Commander. We'll be living together anyway, so there's no inconvenience. Besides, compared to living here on our own, we'd rather stay close to you."

Qin Ge nodded, a little embarrassed, and said, "Since I've rarely interacted with girls before, I'll say this up front: if I ever say something that upsets or angers you, please tell me right away, otherwise I might truly not realize it."

"No problem, Commander." the Banrenma hastily waved her hand.

"I actually like your frankness, Commander. If later we have any disagreements or I feel unhappy about something in life, I'll tell you directly." Nengdai said very straightforwardly.

"Ah, Nengdai‑senpai…" it seemed the Banrenma was still a bit surprised by Nengdai's bluntness.

"It's fine, Banrenma. Nengdai is right—if later there's anything unhappy or any disagreement, please let me know promptly; this is also a great way for us to learn from and help each other." Qin Ge said with a smile.

"Oh, I got it, Commander." the Banrenma nodded, agreeing to Qin Ge's request, but as for how she'll act afterward, that's up to her.

"All right, then you each pick a room first. We'll meet later in the downstairs living room—I have a few things I want to ask you." Qin Ge told the two.

"Yes, Commander!" the two replied, then went to choose their own rooms, while Qin Ge returned to his room, grabbed a notebook and pen, and went downstairs…
