Chapter 19: Chapter Nineteen: Ship Equipment

~6 min read 1,046 words

Not long after, Banrenma and Nengdai walked down the stairs together to the first floor, while Qin Ge sat alone on the sofa with a notebook and pen, writing something.

"Commander." Banrenma said to Qin Ge.

"Hmm, you two have come, please sit first; I have some things I need to ask you." Qin Ge said to the two, gesturing to the long sofa beside him.

"Okay." After saying that, the two sat down, their gazes turning to Qin Ge.

Qin Ge wrote a bit more on his notebook, then raised his hand and said to the two, "I want to ask, do you still have memories from before?"

"Previous memories?" Nengdai blinked, then immediately understood, "Commander, are you referring to our ship's history?"

Qin Ge nodded, "Exactly, meaning what you experienced during your service—do you still remember?"

"We remember." Both said at the same time.

Qin Ge's face lit up, and he hurriedly asked, "Is it the battleship form or your current form?"

"Of course it's our current form; isn't that obvious?" Banrenma said strangely.

Qin Ge startled, let out a heavy sigh, "Indeed? I shouldn't have had such high expectations..."

"What's wrong, Commander?" Seeing Qin Ge momentarily look dejected, Nengdai and Banrenma felt puzzled.

Qin Ge shook his head, "It's fine, just thinking of something else; let's continue."

"Hmm." Although Qin Ge said there was nothing, he couldn't fool the clever two; they exchanged a glance, both seeing doubt in each other's eyes. It seemed their commander had some secret matters, yet neither pressed further, feeling that the time had come and Qin Ge would naturally tell them.

"Moving on to the second question, what weapons are you currently carrying… I mean ship equipment." Qin Ge regained his composure and continued asking.

"152mm twin-mounted gun T1, quadruple-mounted 610mm torpedo T1." Nengdai replied.

"My equipment is the TBF Avenger T1." Banrenma also replied.

Qin Ge frowned, "All T1 ship equipment? Nengdai, that's fine to say, but Banrenma, your aircraft only have torpedo squadrons? You don't even have fighters?"

"No, my initial ship equipment is just this one, so I can't launch fighters yet." Banrenma said apologetically.

"It looks rather difficult; indeed, as Fushun said before, having too many shipgirls isn't good either—if lacking proper equipment, combat strength remains weak." Qin Ge lightly nodded, jotting down this information in his notebook.

"I'm really sorry to put you in a difficult spot, Commander." Banrenma apologized to Qin Ge.

Qin Ge shook his head, "No need to apologize; I'm just trying to understand your situation. Besides, don't forget we still have nine Wisdom Cubes and 6900 supplies—these resources are enough to upgrade your ship equipment."

"Aren't these resources meant for you to build other sisters? Using them for us really isn't proper, is it?" Nengdai said to Qin Ge.

Qin Ge laughed and shook his head, "I originally prepared these resources to build and use, but now that I've already constructed you, the original purpose of these resources has been fulfilled, so they aren't that important to me. On the contrary, using these resources to boost your combat power would be very important for us at this stage."

"In that case, let us first thank you, Commander." Nengdai said to Qin Ge.

"What thanks? This is what I should do." Qin Ge smiled, "This afternoon I'll figure out how to solve your ship equipment issues. Next, could you let me examine your ship equipment? I want to study it."

"Sure." Banrenma immediately replied, while Nengdai beside him also nodded at the same time.

Under Qin Ge's gaze, Nengdai and Banrenma rose and walked to the center of the living room; their bodies flickered with a blue light, and immediately Nengdai's ship equipment appeared beside her, while Banrenma's hand manifested a large bow.

Qin Ge stepped forward, first approaching Banrenma, looking at the large bow in her hand, he couldn't help but exclaim, "It's really quite vivid!"

Only see, the large bow held by Banrenma has its bow stave transformed from the carrier itself, while the signal-receiving radar and antenna have become the aiming scale, and the arrows are hidden within the upper bow stave, just as carrier aircraft are stored in the hangar.

"Commander, would you like to try my bow? It's unexpectedly a bit difficult to use." Banrenma, seeing Qin Ge's curious look, said to him.

Qin Ge pointed to himself, "Can I still try?"

Banrenma nodded, "Sure you can, though it's rather hard to draw the string." Saying that, Banrenma handed the long bow over to Qin Ge.

Qin Ge eagerly took the long bow; upon holding it, he felt its hefty weight, yet this weight was far lighter than he imagined—he had thought the bow would weigh as much as the carrier's hull. He tried pulling the string once, and indeed, as Banrenma said, it was very hard to draw; even using all his strength, his two fingers felt sore and he still couldn't pull it.

Finally, Qin Ge still smiled and shook his head, "Can't pull it." After saying that, he handed the long bow in his hand back to Banrenma; seeing Banrenma take the long bow, a light pull of the string immediately drew it open.

"Commander, it's not because your strength is lacking; it's simply because this long bow is my ship equipment, so you can't draw it." Banrenma explained with a smile.

"That's also true." Qin Ge nodded with a smile, "If any commander could draw a shipgirl's ship equipment, then those commanders could go defeat the Sirens themselves..."

"Hehe."

Having passed Banrenma, Qin Ge approached Nengdai; Nengdai's ship equipment was far more complex than Banrenma's. Yet within this complexity lay an artistic aura, as well as a stern one.

Three twin-mounted 152mm main guns were evenly distributed on the sides of the ship equipment, while two quadruple-mounted 610mm torpedo launchers were closely attached to the inner side. Moreover, remarkably, on her back a long katana was diagonally lodged on the bracket connecting the ship equipment, and on the bracket on the other side there were also two katana of differing lengths.

Thus Qin Ge pointed to the long sword behind Nengdai and asked, "Nengdai, what significance do these long swords behind you have? Could you possibly use them in battle?"
