Chapter 181: Exercise Rules

Then the next day, Qin Ge brought his four shipgirls to the exercise registration office where Anshan was located.

Because the Exercise League was approaching, the exercise field was temporarily closed and work began to set up the venue. Thus, here at Anshan it was just like Qin Ge's first time coming here, with no other commanders, only her and her sisters present.

"Qin Ge, you've come." When Qin Ge brought his shipgirls to appear in the Grand Hall of the exercise registration office, Anshan warmly greeted these few people.

Qin Ge smiled and said, "Of course, I have firmly kept in mind the task Anshan entrusted to me."

"Hehe, thank you so much, come on, let me briefly tell you what to pay attention to as a judge of the Exercise League." Anshan said, then led the five people to a nearby meeting room.

After opening the screen projection, the terrain map of the exercise field appeared on the white curtain.

Anshan said to the few people, "Because this is the Exercise League for all students of the academy, we have specially expanded the exercise field this time. Moreover, as in previous years, we have invited personnel from the Maritime Affairs Bureau to issue missions, responsible for patrolling and security duties of the exercise field."

Then the entire exercise field was divided into ten zones, and these ten zones required ten judges to make rulings. Including your five people, we at Anshan still have four; the last one is Ping Hai. Originally we wanted to call Ninghai, but she is responsible for warehouse duties and cannot take on this role.

Qin Ge nodded at this point and said, "Indeed, but I'm more curious about who served as judges in the past."

Anshan smiled and said, "Previously, the judges were assisted by personnel from the Donghuang Command or the Maritime Affairs Bureau, but now that we have you five, we no longer need their help; our academy can handle this Exercise League on its own."

"Indeed." Qin Ge nodded and said.

"Then next I will first give you an overview of the Exercise League rules." Anshan said to the crowd.

"According to previous Exercise Leagues, we adopt a mixed combat system. Therefore, unlike before when exercises were destroyer versus destroyer, carrier versus carrier, battleship fleet versus battleship,"

"but instead we use mixed formations, meaning it could be destroyers facing heavy cruisers, or battleships facing carriers. This also counts as training, because in naval combat it's impossible for the enemy to always match destroyer versus destroyer, carrier versus carrier."

"The enemies encountered are unknown, and only at the moment of engagement can one discover the enemy's specific ship type. Thus, past practice leagues have adopted this combat system, after all, luck is also part of strength."

"Afterward, all students will begin drawing lots from the boxes beside the exercise field. After drawing a number, they will engage in matches using the method of pitting the first number against the last number, then proceeding sequentially, with each round consisting of ten matches starting and ending simultaneously; when one round finishes, the next group takes over."

"In this way, the victors remain, the losers are eliminated, and ultimately the final rankings are determined."

Qin Ge nodded and said to Anshan, "But this will also produce people who get a bye; doesn't that give them an advantage over others?"

"Luck is also part of strength; being able to draw a bye is his strength." Anshan looked at Qin Ge and said, "Just like some people can always get a drop when they build, while some commanders can build 100 times and still get nothing."

Qin Ge looked at Anshan's meaningful gaze and couldn't help rubbing his nose.

"Alright, the basic rules have been made clear to you; next we will discuss some other matters."

"This time it is divided into individual and team competitions; I already introduced this to you before, so I won't repeat it here."

"This Exercise League will use only training ammunition; if live ammunition is found to be used, the competitor's eligibility will be immediately revoked and they will be handed over to the military police."

"Moreover, any tactics are allowed during the competition, but if external collusion or match-fixing is discovered, the judges have the authority to terminate the match and revoke the eligibility of both sides."

"At the same time, if a passive competition situation arises, besides necessary tactics, the judges also have the right to terminate the match and revoke eligibility."

"Furthermore, this exercise field has boundaries; we will clearly mark them on the sea surface with buoys. If anyone crosses the boundary during the match, it will likewise be considered a loss."

"Therefore, the judges' rulings are the final rulings; we must achieve fairness, justice, and transparency. This time the Judging Panel consists of eleven people: besides our ten judges, there is also a chief judge, and this chief judge is the Dean, Prince of Wales."

"If any participant believes our judging panel has made an error, they may appeal to the chief judge for a retrial; if the chief judge agrees with the judges' verdict, then no further appeal is allowed. If the chief judge finds the judges' verdict questionable, they may order a rematch."

"Furthermore, during this competition's schedule, if conditions such as darkness or changes in field weather occur, the match must not be halted." Anshan said to the few people.

Qin Ge and his shipgirls all nodded, expressing their agreement with Anshan's words.

"So the situation is thus: since we nine are all shipgirls, we can float on the sea surface. As for you, Qin Ge, we have prepared a vessel for you, with a dedicated person to operate the ship; you can also let your shipgirls steer, to ensure the smooth progress of the competition."

"No problem." Qin Ge nodded.

"So everyone is already a fully fledged shipgirl, and Qin Ge is also an instructor, so we have already gone through many exercises. I believe you also understand the rules, so I have finished explaining the essentials; thereafter I hope everyone works together to successfully complete this Exercise League."

"Good." Qin Ge together with several shipgirls nodded.

"Here there is a Judge's Code; I am now distributing it to you. After you return, please read it carefully. Considering that the award ceremony will be held in half a month, the competition will officially begin tomorrow. I hope everyone returns today to adjust their condition and prepare for the subsequent judgments." Anshan said, then handed a beautifully printed sheet of paper to Qin Ge and his shipgirls.

Qin Ge received it, looked through it once, nodded to Anshan, and said, "I understand; then after we go inspect the field, we will return to carefully read this code."

"Alright, then tomorrow at this time, you will come here to gather; afterward we will hold the opening ceremony of the Exercise League, and then formally begin the competition." Anshan said.

"Understood."
