Chapter 2209: Autumn Arrives Late in the Golden City (Part 9)
They slept until after nine o'clock, and when they crawled out of the quilt, they were like two confused bath flowers.
Selina went to change clothes, swaying, while Bruce sat on the edge of the bed, staring with wide eyes, and it took him three minutes to remember to put on his shorts.
Then they gradually sobered up, but they had a disagreement because of the clothing problem.
"You will be sunburned to death," Selina leaned against the bathroom door, pointed at Bruce's attire, and said, "Put on your sun-protection sleeves, wear long pants, and bring a hat and an umbrella."
"Stop joking, I'm starting to enjoy the sunshine I didn't enjoy in the first 20 years of my life."
Selina was speechless, raised her hands and put them down. She said, "You really don't know how strong the ultraviolet rays in a coastal city can be. I'll say it again, I don't want to see my boyfriend turn into a cooked shrimp."
"Don't be like this, honey. Do you think I will be sunburned? Gothamites don't have such customs. We aren't rednecks from the Central States."
"But you are still a white person, and you look pure-blooded."
"Aren't you?"
Selina rolled her eyes again and said, "Don't tell me you haven't noticed that I have brown blood after dating for so long. Didn't you notice I'm not that white?"
"I thought you deliberately tanned into a wheat color, but your features also look like a white person."
"I already said I'm mixed-race, just not mixed that much... I find it increasingly difficult to reason with you. Put on the sun-protection clothes quickly!"
Selina pounced on Bruce—at least from Bruce's perspective—and then she attempted to put a thin, ugly jacket that felt like nothing onto him. Bruce had never worn such clothes in his life.
"Do you know how popular sun-protection gear is now? I'm a nun at the church where Tomaki works, and I bought it at the diving shop run by her husband!"
Bruce had no choice but to put on the jacket, and then Selina threw him a hat, not the kind of baseball cap with only a front brim, but a whole round hat.
"It's not that exaggerated, Selina. Listen to me, when I went back to Clark's hometown, it was a bit sunny, but it didn't reach this level."
Selina pulled his shoulder, climbed up from him, put the hat on him, and said, "Can you use your smart little brain to think about the physics you always talk about? We are going to the pier! Ultraviolet rays, understand?"
Just after putting on the hat, Selina took out a parasol from her bag. Bruce immediately took a step back and said, "No, this is the bottom line, honey. Cat Getan has cleared up, we don't need to use an umbrella."
"This is used to block the sun... Okay, at least go change into long pants."
In the end, Bruce didn't change, and Selina was helpless, planning to wait for the sun to teach him a lesson.
Some people might think that when it's hottest in summer, ultraviolet rays are the strongest. To some extent, this can't be said to be wrong, but in coastal cities, when summer and autumn alternate, the ultraviolet rays are so vicious that they can give you a moderate sunburn in half an hour.
The more terrifying part is that when it's hottest in summer, everyone thinks about sun protection, and the pain caused by the scorching heat makes people try hard to hide in the shade. But once the temperature drops, many people will relax their vigilance, and then the dermatology department of the hospital will be full every day for a month.
Bruce didn't feel any sunshine at all when he first went out, because it wasn't even ten o'clock, and they soon sat in the car. Bruce even took off his hat halfway.
Selina had already given up on him. She handed the parasol in her hand to Bruce—this was Bruce's favorite entertainment activity when they went out together, restoring the umbrella to its factory settings.
In Selina's view, this was simply magic, because in her hands, once an umbrella left its original cover, it could never be put back in. There might be a mobile maze hidden between the folded umbrella leaves.
"What color dress do you think I should buy? That opal necklace is the color of a sunset cloud. Maybe blue?"
"I can only tell you that I plan to wear a retro orange-brown suit with a dark blue tie."
Selina raised her eyebrows in surprise and said, "Finally gave up your terrible dark blue suit? I've always felt you would be very suitable for colorful suits."
"Actually, I wanted to wear silver, but it's a bit undignified."
"If you don't have a special preference for black, why did you design the Batman suit in black?" Selina gathered her hair, which had been blown into a wavy style, and said, "You know that to attract attention, color is a better choice."
"It wasn't designed to attract attention in the first place."
Selina curled her lips, obviously not believing it. She took out a small mirror to look at her face, and then said, "But I've never seen you stand guard. Will you go tonight? Can I go see it?"
"Tonight is of course impossible. Have you forgotten? We have a banquet, but what is there to see? I don't quite understand."
"Stop pretending. You know very well what there is to see. Don't think I don't know you've read the muscle-building guide twenty times in a week. By the way, it has no effect without a diet."
Bruce sighed long.
"Can I explain that this is actually not to match the Batman suit, but to avoid being accused of being improperly dressed when wearing another set of armor? Do you believe it?"
"I've become accustomed to your nonsense."
"That group of superhumans will never understand how much humans have to pay for the perfect body they are born with."
"And then you would rather play cards than go to the gym."
"Can I explain it as the necessity of mental labor?"
Selina turned her head, pinched Bruce's arm, and said, "You might think I'm flattering, but I think this is just right. I don't want you to be a big guy like those classical bodybuilders. That's too exaggerated."
Bruce raised his eyebrows and didn't speak. Selina added, "Your attraction to women doesn't lie in your figure. Of course, the figure is important, and the face is also important, but I think the biggest difference between you and other handsome guys is your melancholic temperament, which is very special, especially the most important."
Bruce just wanted to speak, but Selina changed the subject, "I heard a female assassin named Talia found you? She wants to kill you?"
"I don't think so."
"Then she wants to sleep with you."
"Where did you hear that?"
Selina's eyeballs turned, and Bruce said, "To be precise, she seems to want to give birth to a child for me."
Selina almost choked on her own saliva. She coughed a few times, stared at Bruce, and roared, "Are you kidding?! Is she crazy?!!"
"Is wanting to give birth to a child for me..."
"Don't talk, think about Aisha."
Bruce was silent.
"At that time, we were two people," Selina said incredulously. "And if she doesn't intend to form a family with you, she intends to raise your child alone?! Is her brain burned out or what?"
"Aisha might be an accidental phenomenon."
"But she is the only one among all the children who has your genes, and the others are very normal."
Bruce was speechless again.
Soon the car arrived. They stopped at the side door of the market. Selina checked her bag and walked in, stopping at the entrance of a drink shop, looking down to rummage for money in her bag.
"I plan to have a cup of coffee, what do you want?"
"I... um?"
Selina looked back and saw that Bruce seemed to be attracted by something. After seeing what it was, Selina slapped Bruce's arm hard. When Bruce looked back at her, he only got a death stare.
"Oh, two beauties, our playboy intends to..."
"Shh, don't talk, come over," Bruce pulled Selina and hid behind the stall.
"Pamela?" Selina recognized who one of them was, but the other tall beauty made her feel a bit strange.
"Talia," Bruce called her name in a low voice, then frowned and said, "How did the two of them get together?"
"Little Pa?" Selina also frowned, but when she turned her head, she also saw Bruce's death stare.
"'Little Pa'? How did you two meet?"
"I saved her the first time we met, and then we became good friends. Is there anything strange about this?"
"She's a lesbian."
"I'm not."
"You'd better not be."
"I'll give you these words too," Selina immediately started counting with her fingers, "Clark Kent, Lex Luthor, Evans Falcone..."
"They are all my friends."
"Little Pa is also my friend," Selina waved her hand impatiently and said, "There's no such relationship between us. Can you explain to me what's going on with Talia first?"
Bruce also stretched his head to look around with some doubt and said, "I thought she left Cat Getan. Who knows what she's trying to do by staying here."
"Then let me try her skills first," Selina snapped her fingers and said, "Especially to see if her mental state is normal."
Bruce was just one second late, and Selina had already disappeared. He sighed, paid for the drinks, and went around the stall to find a table to sit down.
Not long after, Selina came back with a triumphant smile on her face, holding a thin wallet that didn't look like her style between two fingers.
Bruce gave her a thumbs up while drinking coffee. Selina said with some surprise, "Aren't you the one who hates me stealing things the most?"
"Then we have to make it clear. Talia is a female assassin, and her money is all obtained by killing people. You stole her money, which belongs to seizing illegal assets."
Selina was greatly pleased. She gave a bright smile, threw the wallet at Bruce, leaned across the table to kiss his forehead, and sat down to drink coffee.
But as she drank, her eyeballs started to shift to the right. Bruce looked back.
"Oh, two beauties, and our Cat Getan phantom intends to..."
Before Bruce finished speaking, he was thrown a bag by Selina. They sat on the same side. Bruce looked at the two figures walking past and said, "Clark and Lex, this is not unexpected. I heard Clark moved into Luthor Manor."
"Wait a minute," Selina held up a finger and said, "You said Talia failed to seduce you, but she still stayed in Cat Getan without leaving. Do you think she might have changed her target?"
"What do you mean?"
"Don't you think Lex Luthor is very similar to you? Both are big billionaires, both are super geniuses, and he even has better grades than you."
"Don't mention the grades."
Selina had already carried two cups of coffee, slung her bag, and hooked Bruce, rushing to the nearest table as fast as she could to sit down.
"I think Lex Luthor is a good choice," Selina said quickly, "Rich, smart, single."
"Are you that worried about Talia?"
"I'm worried about you."
"I wouldn't..."
"But what if you two create another Aisha?"
"Your worry has some truth."
"And Lex has better grades than you."
"I already said don't mention this!" ===== CHAPTER 2210 =====
