Chapter 2211: Autumn Arrives Late in the Golden City (Part 11)
Clark was looking at hats. He saw a pile of Mexican-style hats at a small stall near the east gate, colorful and very eye-catching.
Besides him, a large pile of tourists were surrounding the stall. A brown-skinned Mexican guy held a tower of hats two meters high with one hand, kept waving with the other, and introduced them with spit flying.
Lex nudged Clark with his elbow and said, "You didn't buy a hat when you went to Mexico, why do you think of buying one now?"
Who knew Clark shook his head and said, "The Mexican countryside doesn't have a Mexican style. In fact, there aren't many in the towns either, except for the souvenir shops in big cities specifically for tourists. There are very few places that are so colorful."
Lex was silent. Clark looked at the colorful hat tower piled high and said, "There are large deserts and Gobi, as well as rivers, lakes, and tropical rainforests. There are cowboy towns common in Western movies, and dry stone cities. It's a very beautiful country."
"Is the countryside also good?"
"Ordinary rural areas, if I have to say, the lifestyle is very primitive," Clark shrugged. "Actually, life in rural areas is much better than in urban slums, because they can obtain nutrients from nature. Although it's hard, they can still survive, just not developed."
"Is your home like this too?"
Clark smiled easily and said, "There are no real farmers in the United States. The Kent family are farm owners. We own a large area of farmland, pastures, and various facilities, two warehouses of large agricultural machinery, and hire hundreds of helpers every year."
"Similar to a small company?"
"Almost, but we don't have shareholders. Decisions are basically made by internal family consultation or accepting the advice of professionals."
"The most primitive form of company."
Speaking of this, the queue finally reached them. Clark looked at the Mexican guy holding the hat, importantly listened carefully to his English accent, and then went up and said, "Hello, can you give us a hat with an eagle pattern? Maybe another one with a cactus flower?"
Lex heard that he was speaking Spanish, and it was very Mexican Spanish, with some exclusive vocabulary of Nahuatl, sounding like an authentic Mexican.
The Mexican guy was stunned. He hurriedly put down the hat in his hand, stepped forward to give Clark a big hug, and also said in the same indigenous Spanish, "God, you must be from Gua State, right? My parents are residents of a small town on the edge of Mexico City, and my grandmother is from Mon City. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, but I'm American, but I lived in Guadalajara State for a period of time. The farmland there is beautiful."
"From the eye you have for picking gifts, I can see that you must understand our national culture very well," the Mexican guy showed a bright smile, gave him a thumbs up, and then started rummaging through a pile of hats.
"Tourists often like simple colorful stripes or things related to Mayan civilization. I'm not saying they aren't good, just that if we talk about Mexican characteristics, men must be eagles, and women must be flowers, among which the cactus flower is the best. We all love it."
"Yes, I want to give one to my male friend and my girlfriend. Her name is Lois, and she is a reporter."
"Then give you this and this," the guy handed over two hats, then gestured for Clark to wait, and rummaged through another two hats at the bottom and said.
"These are the good goods I've been keeping at the bottom of the box. See? The Moon and Sun Pyramids, the patterns around them are the murals in them. The Aztecs believed that the moon represents women and the sun represents men. When they are combined, they shape stone, sand, and oases," the Mexican guy introduced with one hand on the hat and the other circling.
"This is great," Clark sighed.
He decided to buy four hats, but in the end, the Mexican guy only charged the money for two hats. He shrugged and said, "I can hear that your accent is very local, even more indigenous than mine. It sounds like a rural person."
"Those American guys in high-level agricultural product companies won't learn such an accent. I guess you might be a rural teacher and doctor. Only those who deal with villagers every day can learn so many indigenous words."
"Anyway, thank you, big guy, even if it's just for you speaking this language to me, this is much better than I imagined."
Clark said goodbye to the Mexican guy with a smile, then put the eagle hat on Lex's head, hesitated for a moment, and said, "I think Lois will be more interested in the pyramid hat. We can have one each, so the cactus flower doesn't seem very suitable. Who should I give it to?"
"Maybe you can keep it yourself. This isn't Mexico. No one will have an opinion on you wearing a female pattern hat."
Clark was hesitating, but found his phone ringing. After answering the phone, he showed a look of surprise not long after, and then started looking around.
"My goodness, you are here too. Where are you? I didn't see you. I'm at the entrance of a restaurant called Sha Tea House... Oh! I see you!"
Clark ran in one direction with his phone, Lex followed behind him, and then he saw a tall woman waving there.
"God, Diana, why are you here too?"
Diana smiled at Clark and said, "I came for the music festival. I guess you are too."
"I just didn't expect you to be interested in this type of music festival," Clark joked, "You look like the kind of person who goes to the theater every weekend."
"I am. Human music is one of the few art forms I appreciate. Others are still a bit too advanced for a demigod. In fact, I also like avant-garde music, especially the well-known avant-garde art group Buxter on the West Coast. The hummingbird they performed at the Metropolis Theater last time left me wanting more."
Clark immediately stuffed the hat into her arms and said, "Specially bought for you, lady. By the way, what are you here for?"
Diana looked at the hat in her arms and said, "Before I came to Cat Getan, I was invited to attend a banquet held here, but after I came, I found that the specifications of this banquet might be higher than I imagined. My ordinary gown can't be worn."
"Out of respect and identity considerations, I need to wear the official costume of the Amazon Princess, but I lack some suitable accessories. I heard there is a Paradise Amazon specialty store here, so I'm ready to take a look."
Clark knew that Paradise Amazon was an official brand launched by the country of Amazon, divided into several sub-brands, including souvenirs, sports goods, outdoor equipment, and even cosmetics and jewelry. After decades of evolution, it has become popular all over the world and is a relatively well-known foreign brand in the United States.
Then they walked to that store together. It was very eye-catching because it was probably the largest store in this entire market.
"We have always wanted to open a store in Cat Getan, but because of some reasons, you know, several attempts failed. We were originally going to give up, but this time we received an active invitation from the mayor. Under my guarantee, the royal family decided to try one last time."
"In fact, this is just a test product," Diana stood at the entrance of the Paradise Amazon store and said, "If the effect is good, we will open an entire shopping center here and open a tourist route directly to Cat Getan Pier."
"Most brands here are like this," Lex opened his mouth and said, "When Cat Getan opened for investment, most people were skeptical. They were worried that this terrifying city would repeat the same mistakes, but they really couldn't abandon the commercial map of a mega-city, so they decided to test the water first."
"If there are no accidents, taking advantage of the heat of the music festival, the shops here will get good returns, which can give foreign investors confidence, so Roy wanted to hold this event so big."
They started to enter the store to pick, many brand lines of Paradise Amazon were condensed into a small area, not looking very crowded, just because the number of tourists was too large, they were more like being pushed forward.
Diana expressed her apology, but Lex suggested that he hoped Diana could accompany them to shop for fashion stores later. The suggestion of this princess would be very useful, because it was obvious that she was also that kind of old-school person.
Diana picked out a pair of arm guards as fast as she could, because there were too many people here, and her tall figure and outstanding appearance had attracted attention. The crowd was discussing, all guessing whether she was the famous princess.
They had to squeeze out of the crowd like a school of fish passing through dense coral, and witnessed the dispute between Bruce and Selina next to the gate.
To be precise, it was Selina who wanted to pull Bruce out, but Bruce refused to do so.
About ten minutes ago, they finished their drinks, and Selina wanted to walk on the pier. By the way, it was 11:00 AM now, the sun was high in the sky, looking out along the gate, the crowd was all concentrated under the sun umbrellas placed on the pier square.
The moment Bruce stepped out of the gate, he hadn't realized the severity of the problem until he took a step, feeling like he had jumped into the magma of hell.
Bruce shrank back with a swish and looked outside with a look of shock.
The scene outside was indeed quite different from the Cat Getan he recognized. Under the vicious sunshine of the morning, everything outside was illuminated into glass material, or it could be said to be sparkling crystals. In short, the outline was very blurry, and everything was reflecting light, stinging people's eyes.
The sea was of course dark blue under normal circumstances. You could see a little green near the beach on the east side of the pier, but now it had almost turned emerald green.
The chemical composition contained in Cat Getan's seawater could fill a chemical periodic table, which led to them not even needing to artificially put in seawater purification agents, and they had a perfect glass sea, which almost couldn't appear in the US East Coast region, but it just appeared.
This also meant that the ultraviolet rays here would not let go of any child who hadn't taken sun protection measures like a tropical island. Bruce was unfamiliar with the scene before him, but his skin was telling him that any white person had a day of becoming a redneck, others were in the past, and he was today.
"Listen, I won't go out," Bruce leaned against the iron sheet next to the gate and said, "The environment outside is not suitable for any human survival. I'll stay here until the sun goes down."
Selina put one hand on her hip, raised her hat with one hand, and said, "Who said they wanted to finish the sun they didn't get in the previous 20 years?"
"That's not the sun," Bruce refused to admit. He said, "The sun shouldn't be like this, absolutely not."
"Then you must have some misunderstanding about the sun." ===== CHAPTER 2212 =====
