Chapter 2395: The Battle of the Bats (Part 14)
"I'm back!"
Bruce shouted as he stepped through the gates of Wayne Manor, but he didn't hear Martha's response. He walked quickly through the front hall, but didn't see the two of them in the dining room or the kitchen.
So he walked all the way to the back, arriving in the backyard, where he saw another Bruce watering the ground with a hose, a spider bite wound on the back of his hand.
"Where are Thomas and Martha?" Bruce asked.
"They went to a parent-teacher conference for Dick." the other Bruce replied. He put away the hose in his hand, turned to look at Bruce, and said, "What's wrong? What do you want with them?"
By this time, Bruce had walked up. He said, "Actually, it's nothing. I'm mainly here to see you. How's your injury?"
"Actually, it's been healed for a long time, but Thomas and Martha are worried. I can't leave until the family doctor comes for the next comprehensive check-up." the other Bruce sighed, "I don't know how my universe is doing."
"I told you that Spider-Man didn't actually die, right? Has he come to see you?"
"No, but he left me a note saying he's found a new job and won't be back for a while, but it's good that he's still alive."
"Then have you considered finding a new job?"
The other Bruce raised an eyebrow, and Bruce walked up and put his arm around his shoulder, saying, "I believe the results of the next family doctor's physical exam will definitely show that you're actually completely fine."
"So, logically speaking, you should go back to your universe, but I believe you don't want to go back right now. You want to stay with Thomas and Martha, at least for a little while longer."
The other Bruce showed an awkward expression, as if his mind had been pierced. He said, "I do want to stay with them a little longer, but if you..."
"Actually, I don't mind at all." Bruce shrugged and said, "I've been very busy lately, and it's nice to have you take my place and keep them company."
"But you also know that Thomas hates anyone who is idle. If you're healed and still stay at home all day..." Bruce dragged out a long tone, and the other Bruce shuddered.
"Okay, it seems you have a job to introduce to me." the other Bruce said, "But I must remind you, even with Spider-Man's abilities, I'm just an ordinary person, far worse than those so-called normal Batmen. I'm afraid it's hard to be competent for those jobs of yours."
"It doesn't matter, it's not a very difficult thing." The two turned a corner and walked into the hall. Bruce looked at the other self and said, "By the way, do you have a uniform?"
The other Bruce shook his head and said, "My previous uniform is already broken, and it seems Thomas doesn't like me tinkering with these things."
"That's true, but I think, since you've already become Spider-Man, you can also ask other Spider-Men how their uniforms are made. Get yourself a cool uniform first, and then we can talk about the entrance exam."
"There's an entrance exam too?"
"Of course, but don't worry too much, it's just a very simple little test, very easy to pass."
In David's mental world, the battle between the two dinosaurs was nearing its end. To be precise, after the first few clashes, the two of them didn't fight.
It was the female dinosaur named Cole Norton who kept pinning the Bat-Rex, then going up to sniff left and right, so much so that after time resumed flowing, the Bat-Rex had to distance himself from her, because he had no idea how to deal with a real dinosaur's courtship behavior.
The Bat-Rex raised a short arm and said, "First of all, I wasn't originally a dinosaur, I'm Batman. Secondly, this body isn't a real dinosaur either, but a mechanical Tyrannosaurus."
Cole Norton let out a howl, and the Bat-Rex couldn't understand it at all, because he wasn't actually a dinosaur, and before meeting Cole Norton, he hadn't seen other dinosaurs, so he didn't understand dinosaur language.
Although the fact that there was a language Batman didn't understand in this world was a shocking fact, at least this Batman who entered the mechanical Tyrannosaurus body didn't have such related knowledge.
So he could only respond with a sound based on feeling to ensure that this strange female dinosaur wouldn't pin him again. But rashly using a language without deeply understanding it obviously wouldn't produce any good results.
Cole Norton immediately became excited. She bumped into the Bat-Rex with her head. The Bat-Rex wanted to dodge, but the other party immediately stuck to him again.
"Uh, what are they doing?" Miles asked, puzzled.
"It looks like courtship." Gwen Spider-Man shrugged, breathed a sigh of relief, and said, "The good news is they shouldn't be able to fight, the bad news is I'm afraid you won't be able to find Cole Norton to study anything for a while."
The Time Manipulator also sighed.
Just at this moment, the communicator on Shadow Spider-Man's body rang. After answering and responding a few times, he turned back to the Spider-Team and said, "Bad news, the bandwidth is not enough, we have to withdraw first."
"Why is it not enough? Wasn't it tested before? The bandwidth could barely accommodate us. Did something happen in the real world?"
"That's not it, it's just that new people want to come in." Shadow Spider-Man replied, "Nick said that the current upload and download speed is already very dangerous. If we don't withdraw a batch of people, it will start to lag next."
"But we still have to help the Time Manipulator..."
"Are you going to the real world?" The Time Manipulator suddenly asked. The Spider-Men nodded, and then he said, "Then help me check the information. What exactly is this monster that appeared in the depths of time?"
"Perhaps the Time Variance Authority will have records." Gwen Spider-Man said, "Once we find the answer, we will send someone to find you. But in exchange, you have to tell us information about the machine that the X-Alliance is manufacturing."
"I can tell you a part of it now as a deposit." The Time Manipulator said, "That is to end the war completely. We have always been preparing for this."
After the Spider-Men left, the battle between the Bat-Monster Car and the knight armor was nearing its end. With the cooperation of Barry and the Bat-Monster Car, the limbs of the knight armor were beaten to pieces.
Finally, the Bat-Monster Car jumped off Barry's body, slammed into the chest armor of the knight armor with a fierce rush, and with a 'bang', it was knocked against the opposite wall. The floating helmet spun and fell to the ground with a 'clatter'.
Flash Batman walked up. He picked up the helmet and realized that the helmet wasn't made of steel at all, but plastic, just imitating the material and pattern of metal.
Turning the helmet over, there was actually a price tag hanging on the back. Flash Batman looked closely and found that this should be a plastic toy helmet sold in a cheap supermarket in France.
The Bat-Monster Car, Flash Batman, and Barry gathered together. They soon reached the same conclusion as the other Batmen, which was that these personalities that seemed to be dancing in groups actually had internal logic. They might be fantasy products evolved from David's thoughts at some point.
But there was still no clue about how to eliminate these personalities. Several people found that when these personalities returned to their original shapes, these things could not be destroyed.
Flash Batman guessed that this might be because they couldn't destroy David's memory. Once these personalities presented their original appearance in memory, it was impossible to be killed.
Barry held the helmet and studied it for a long time, finally finding that this was just an ordinary plastic helmet, and it no longer had the magical property of being able to reflect attacks. But no matter what he did, he couldn't leave a mark on this helmet.
"We have to go deeper." Flash Batman said, "Find those personalities that can communicate and ask what exactly is going on."
"Then come on." The Bat-Monster Car opened its doors and said, "There are no other vehicles in this city, which means we can speed along alone."
While the Bat-Monster Car was carrying Flash Batman and Barry toward the depths, Batman, Batwoman, and Charles's group were also walking toward the depths of the Spirit Flow Sect.
They also found that the tree representing fear plants could not be destroyed, and they also derived the same conclusion from this, but Batman thought more than others.
Human memory is actually not as solid as imagined. Even adults, when recalling things from a long time ago, memories will be blurred, and sometimes they will even doubt whether certain memories that are too long ago are true or their own fantasies.
David's experience on that big tree should have happened when he was very young, but if that big tree is indestructible, does it mean that in David's heart, this memory is very solid?
People will always have a few things that leave a deep impression, and they will not forget them even after walking through most of their lives. Judging from the thrill at the time, it is normal for David to remember this thing very clearly.
But if there are so many personalities here, and all their sources are remembered clearly by David, and they appear indestructible in the mental world, then it is very incredible.
Batman also speculated that many personalities here might just be a glimpse on the road, things seen producing associations or strange characters appearing in dreams. For normal people, these things will be forgotten quickly, and no one will remember completely what they saw when they walked down a certain street when they were very young.
"Could this be a symptom of hyperthymesia?" Charles proposed a possibility, "Unable to control what memories his brain receives, and will not forget, causing memories to expand in the brain, forming today's situation."
"But if this is really the case, then the situation will definitely be more chaotic than what we see now." Batman said, "Patients with hyperthymesia cannot control where their memories are located. This is a mental illness, and the inner world of mental patients will not be so orderly."
Charles also fell silent. He had seen the inner worlds of many mental patients, which were indeed chaotic, and more of a kind of illogical chaos, such as things that could never be put together being kneaded into an item, and then constantly rotating and floating, obscuring all vision.
Although David's mental world is chaotic, it is a reasonable chaos, with rules and order, which shows that he can control his mental world. Although he is crazy, he is not sick.
"This might be related to his current state." Batwoman speculated, "We must figure out what is making him suffer. Is it these personalities?" ===== CHAPTER 2396 =====
