Chapter 2424: The Eccentric Bat-Family (Part 13)
After Green Lantern Batman performed a series of actions infinitely close to touching porcelain, he finally stopped, and at this time, Joker's living room was already in a mess.
Joker just wanted to grab the chair he was sitting on and straighten it up, when he heard the knocking on the door outside. It was obvious that the neighbor downstairs had come to the door because of the previous noise.
Joker took a gun from the cabinet next to him, walked out the door, and had a friendly and intimate exchange with the neighbor. Finally, his own door was hit by a spray bullet, and there were many bullet holes left on the ground under the other party's feet, and the problem was successfully solved.
But as soon as he returned to the living room, Green Lantern Batman, who had already woken up, was constantly wriggling in place, causing the armrest of the chair to scratch a large piece of the floor.
If it were a real Batman or one of Batman's Robin birds in front of him, Joker would definitely hum twice and say, "Whose account should I put this bill on? Wouldn't you happen to know a big tycoon?"
But as soon as Joker walked in the direction of Green Lantern Batman, the other party let out a harsh ghost-like howl, until Joker heard the neighbor downstairs start to bang on the ceiling.
Because of the previous disasters, Joker's living standard had plummeted, and he had moved from the Cat Getan slums to the suburbs, and it was a residential area that had long had no property management, no water, and no electricity. Everyone relied on their own abilities.
The benefit of this kind of residential area was that there was almost no rent, but the disadvantage was that the living conditions were extremely harsh. Not only was the energy problem solved by himself, but the floor was very thin, so it was neither warm nor soundproof.
And how heavy the residents who lived in the same building as Joker were didn't need to be discussed. If this Green Lantern Batman was allowed to make such a fuss, there would only be two results: either Joker would become the target of public criticism in this building, having friendly and intimate exchanges with his neighbors every day, or the landlord would simply drive him out, and the landlord responsible for managing water and electricity maintenance would be beaten to death, and Joker wouldn't be able to mix in this building either.
Joker had to go over and cover his mouth, tie him up again, and like kidnapping a hostage, stuff his mouth full of towels, seal it with tape, and find a bottle of anesthetic spray to knock him out.
Finally, he got a large box for a washing machine from the warehouse downstairs, successfully stuffed Green Lantern Batman into it, and then got a small cart to push the box out of the building.
Joker decided to go to the base of the Joker Gang.
Joker did have a gang, but most of the time the Joker Gang and Joker didn't act together, and Joker didn't want to pay attention to this group of people at all, unless they could become tools for him and Batman to play games.
Usually, this group of idiots would only have such a use, but this time they were very rarely used for other purposes, which was to help Joker deal with a stupider idiot.
Joker originally wanted to kill this Batman who was more Joker than Joker, but from the moment he saw the cut surface of the finger and that ring, Joker had a guess.
In the New 52, Joker even noticed earlier than Batman that a dark force was constantly eroding various universes. Batman wanted to use this as a breakthrough to find out what Joker had discovered, but finally returned empty-handed.
Joker's investigation into this dark force had been going on for a considerable time. In his office at the base of the Joker Gang, a whole wall of felt boards was covered with various photos.
Among them were Batman and Robin, super-criminals, some ordinary citizens that no one knew or cared about, and various buildings in Cat Getan.
In the case that the Court of Owls was no longer a secret, Joker naturally knew that the god they worshipped behind them was the Source of Darkness. It didn't matter what his name was.
But Green Lantern Batman was an anomaly. He didn't look like he was directly infected by the dark force. It was clear that someone used the Green Lantern ring to set a trap and turned him into what he was now.
When Joker saw the muscles, bones, and blood vessels of Green Lantern Batman showing their appearance, endless anger and killing intent ignited in his heart.
Batman's number one fan was not the Arkham troupe, or rather, it was the Arkham troupe, but specifically the God Joker among the Arkham troupe.
Joker's philosophy had always been that Batman could be down on his luck, could suffer calamities and become crazy or chaotic, or even die, but he absolutely could not become boring.
Batman had always been Joker's big toy. He spent his whole life looking for all sorts of ways to make Batman show more reactions. Persecuting Batman and observing his reactions was the greatest joy of Joker's life, and also his spiritual pillar.
Therefore, no matter what Batman experienced or what kind of reaction he showed, Joker could accept it. The two things he could not accept were: first, Batman not playing with him anymore; and second, Batman not knowing how to play anymore.
Green Lantern Batman clearly belonged to the latter. If you were to say he wasn't Batman at all, that wouldn't be quite right, but if it were really just an ordinary child who grew up to be Bruce Wei En, Joker wouldn't bother with him.
But Green Lantern Batman used the power of the Green Lantern ring to kill the murderer who killed his parents, which proved that he was still trapped by his parents' death; he was still that Batman obsessed with revenge.
Yet he made Batman's spiritual core too flat, erasing the contradictions and conflicts that should have existed in this character, turning him into the simplest kind of person who kills whoever he finds displeasing. This made everything devoid of dramatic tension and story, so how could Joker like it?
If one were to say this was just a coincidence, and that in the vast universe there was always such a "chuunibyou," then Joker could barely accept it. At most, it was a case of "out of sight, out of mind." After all, one could imagine that among countless universes, there were plenty of boring Bruce Waynes, and Joker didn't have the time to waste on such things.
But the problem was that Green Lantern Batman was molded by someone. That is to say, he could have originally become a normal Batman, but someone changed the trajectory of his fate, making him become what he was now.
Joker was like a starving ghost watching someone throw a delicious cake into the trash can. He didn't understand how anyone could be willing to ruin such a great masterpiece as Batman in this way; this was simply unforgivable.
Many people would wonder, since Bruce Wei En was a brilliant scientist, why did the Joker corresponding to him seem to have no scientific research ability?
But in reality, Joker was capable of conducting research, but his research methods were usually not very scientific, and were overly cruel, more like a completely insane mental patient wantonly persecuting and abusing life.
But if one could look at it from another perspective, his behavior had logic. For example, now, tying Green Lantern Batman to the experimental table, using a knife to cut open the skin on his hand and exploring deeper, it looked like he was torturing Green Lantern Batman, but in reality, Joker was just looking for the source of the dark power within him in the most straightforward way.
And precisely because Joker actually didn't understand scientific research at all, the method he could think of was also the simplest. There were only a few things on this hand wearing the ring: bones, muscles, blood, fascia—just take them out one by one and look at them.
That finger that had been cut off and was most severely contaminated was the top priority, but Joker didn't understand any scientific analysis methods, so he simply threw this thing into the fire.
The ring was not burned, but the entire finger was burned to a crisp. What was even stranger was that after the flames ignited by the paper scraps went out, a pool of dark red traces remained on the ground.
After Joker threw other parts stripped from Green Lantern Batman into the fire, such traces would remain on the ground, and so Joker understood that this thing must be very important.
Next, Joker burned more. Green Lantern Batman lost half of his palm, from the ring finger to the base of the palm. Finally, Joker obtained a small jar of dark red blood.
This thing was definitely blood, Joker speculated. However, he didn't know whose blood it was, so he thought of the simplest and most convenient method, which was to put this thing into the mailbox of Wei En Manor.
Batman also received this bottle of blood, but he didn't think it was created by Joker, because his subconscious mind believed that Joker shouldn't possess the ability for chemical analysis and extraction. Even if he had such knowledge, he didn't have the equipment. Batman thought this might be a warning to him from the mastermind behind the scenes.
But who was Batman? He wouldn't be afraid of such a threat. He turned around and threw the blood into the analysis container. Although he did so, he didn't hold any hope of being able to analyze a result, because the portion of mysterious blood he had previously obtained from Batwoman hadn't yielded any results either.
However, after handing the blood over to Batman, Joker had new progress on his side, which originated from an accident.
After feeling that Green Lantern Batman no longer had any utility value, Joker prepared to ruthlessly abandon him. But with Joker's level of cruelty, abandoning him certainly wouldn't mean sending him back to where he came from; Joker intended to kill him directly.
The process was also as simple as could be. Joker didn't intend to arrange any method of death for him; he was just going to walk over and slit his throat with a knife.
Because he was too bored with this kind of meaningless execution, Joker acted like every worker before they made a huge mess, acting entirely on instinct without using his brain at all. At that time, one of his arms was gripping Green Lantern Batman's neck, and the other hand was preparing to swing the knife.
Who would have thought that Green Lantern Batman, having inhaled a large amount of anesthetic, could still break free from his grip, and then bit down on his arm.
Joker let out a cry of pain and wanted to pull his arm back, but Green Lantern Batman bit down hard and wouldn't let go, until he bit a chunk of flesh off Joker's arm.
Joker, while clutching his arm that was bleeding profusely, looked at Green Lantern Batman with the gaze one would use for a dead person. His blood was poisonous; ordinary people would become very crazy after receiving Joker's blood, and a large injection could potentially make them the next Joker. No matter how firm one's willpower was, they couldn't resist this kind of physical contamination, and Batman was especially allergic to it.
But who would have thought that Green Lantern Batman would be like nothing had happened. Joker was certain that this guy had drunk at least two big mouthfuls of his blood, and not only did he not go crazy, he even became clearer-headed than before. The anesthetic didn't even work on him anymore.
This made Joker immediately associate it with that bottle of blood. If Green Lantern Batman was completely immune to the contamination of Joker's blood, was it possible that his blood had already been contaminated by the same virus long ago?
That is to say, Green Lantern Batman's body had long been flowing with the Joker virus, and that mysterious blood was a mixture of Batman's and Joker's blood.
