Chapter 2840: Lego Minifigure Battle! (Part 5)

~11 min read 2,002 words

Batman walked into the gate of Wei En Manor.

This world's Wei En Manor was very strange, built on a towering isolated island. Except for the Wei En Manor located at the very top and a large pile of winding mountain roads, there was nothing on the whole island.

When Schiller was walking up along the road, he said, "I guess Batman must be very confused now."

"Confused about what?"

"How could the Batman who confuses this universe place his home in such a place? Just how much confidence does he have in the continental shelf beneath this island to be so sure that no matter what disaster occurs, Wei En Manor won't turn into a second Atlantis?"

"

"That is the problem. No Batman would want to live in a paradise," Shiler said. "Next, my occupational disease is going to flare up; you had better bear with it."

Deadpool handed him a soda and said, "I've heard of your great name from the mouth of the Spider-Man in our universe. He expressed some even more astonishing views on your astonishing consultation fees; for Spider-Man, that was almost equivalent to a complaint."

"My pleasure," Shiler said with a smile.

"Actually, I don't think that if a person wishes to live in seclusion, it is necessarily escaping reality. The scope of reality is too vast; it is very likely that it still contains many things they are attached to, but their dislike for certain things outweighs their attachment to these things, which is why they wish to escape."

"Then what do you think this Batman is attached to? And what is he escaping from?" Tim asked thoughtfully.

"Many people cannot think this problem through clearly, and I guess Batman is the same. He may have found countless excuses for choosing to build his home here, such as safety..."

"But in reality, it's not safe at all," Tim spread his hands and said. "Anyone with an IQ above 80 knows that the price to pay for clearing out and destroying an isolated island in the sea is too small; the ocean will bear all the consequences."

"Or, for example, the beautiful scenery..."

"It doesn't make up for a three-hour daily commute," Deadpool said. "Although I haven't had much contact with Batman, I guess if he could step out the door and be at the Cat Getan Police Department, he wouldn't want to spend half an hour on a plane."

"Or, for example, the quiet atmosphere..."

Shiler refuted himself, saying, "For Batman, there has never been a quiet atmosphere. He is busy to death all day long; just the phone ringtones and the flashing Bat-Signal alone are enough to destroy any tranquil atmosphere."

"Then what is the real reason that even he himself hasn't thought of?"

"Have you noticed the biggest difference in this universe?"

"What?" Tim looked at Shiler with some confusion.

"In this universe, there are only LEGO figures. They don't bleed, they don't get hurt, and even if they are scattered into parts, you can just piece them together and they'll be fine. You can even use parts that aren't your own," Shiler said, looking down at his hands.

Tim seemed to sense something, but he still hadn't grasped the key. This was a very novel thought process for him; he was not the type of detective skilled at mind-reading, but rather one who emphasized finding evidence and speaking with facts, which is why he always appeared at crime scenes rather than interrogation rooms.

He knew this was also one of his weaknesses. He lacked experience in dealing with people, but the Bruce from his universe said that everyone goes through this, and it would be fine when he grew up.

Tim also didn't know how old he had to be to be like Batman, to understand the human heart as easily as reaching into a bag, to always be able to face everyone with the most appropriate posture, and to become the most terrifying nightmare for criminals and the kindest father for children.

Perhaps that day would never come, because Batman is just Batman, and his Robins are all different. They never live to grow into Batman; they worship him, but it is the kind of worship for a father, not the prostration and worship for a god.

But Tim was a very curious person. He felt that exploring another side of the world's scenery wasn't a bad thing, so he listened quietly to what Shiler said.

"What would a world without the existence of death be like? Perhaps to us, this is inconceivable, but for everyone in this LEGO world, death simply does not exist."

"And it's not just death; even those painful bleeding and injuries don't actually exist. Even though it's made of plastic, this is a true paradise."

"Then what exactly is Batman saving?"

Tim suddenly felt a sense of empathy. He felt a void erupting from his chest. He shook his head and said, "But even if there is no chaos caused by hurting or being hurt by others, at least it delayed traffic..."

"Do you think Batman wants to be a traffic cop?"

Tim shook his head again. Shiler casually plucked a flower from the flower bed beside the mountain road, began to study the LEGO construction, and then said, "Although the effort and reward for every Batman are disproportionate, the positive feedback received by the Batman of this universe is particularly insufficient."

"You must be thinking that if he is a true hero, then seeing a world without bleeding and death would surely make him happy. But we must stand from the perspective of the Batman in this universe; from the moment he was born, the world has been like this."

"That is to say, he has no idea that there is such a thing as bleeding and death in this world. He doesn't know that there is another world where people are made of flesh and blood, and they would let out desperate screams if they were slightly cut or squeezed."

Tim shivered, and he subconsciously moved a little further away from Shiler. Although that was what was said, and the logic was sound, hearing it from his mouth always gave people the feeling that he had very rich experience in cutting or squeezing.

It reminded Tim of the dental treatment process his dentist described when advising them not to eat too many cookies; that was the most terrifying story he had ever heard.

"So in this Batman's worldview, what he does is spend half his life honing himself into an unparalleled master, and in the end, the problems he solves are tidying up scattered LEGO bricks and solving traffic jams," Shiler said.

Tim sighed softly and said, "There are many cruel things in this world, but if I had to name one that I fear the most, it might be displacement."

Shiler looked at him with an inquisitive gaze. Tim shook his head and said, "I have never told Batman these things because I'm afraid he will worry about me, but in fact, I always feel that the relationship between him and me shouldn't be like this. It shouldn't be like this between us and him."

"What kind of relationship?"

"Harmonious and happy," Tim found a word and continued, "Because I discovered that if Batman had that kind of past and that kind of experience, then it is almost impossible for him to become the way I see him. This doesn't conform to certain laws."

"Psychological laws?"

"Perhaps. I don't understand it very well either; it's just my own opinion," Tim said. "I feel like something made him act like that, and also made us act like this, so everything became the way it is now, but in reality, things are not that simple."

"The Batman of this universe gives me the same feeling. Could it be that in the first 40 years of his life, he never discovered that saving such a world doesn't actually require him to pay so much? Of course not; he is not such a fool."

"But he still did it, going all in, catching up, swearing to be a great hero who transcends evil, but only after reaching the finish line did he realize there was no one in front. This is obviously very abnormal."

"What's abnormal about that?" Deadpool said. "Someone wrote a story, set up a character, and then shoved this character into every universe without considering whether the environment of this universe could actually produce such a character. Essentially, someone was just being lazy."

"What is the Cat Getan like in the universe you are from?" Shiler looked at Tim and asked.

"Dark, chaotic, with madmen and criminals emerging one after another," Tim sighed and said. "I know most Gothams are like this; the me from other universes told me."

"It was also until then that I was sure something was abnormal, because I always felt that only the Batman described by other Tims could deal with such a Cat Getan, and my adoptive father... I don't know where his optimism comes from. Perhaps he is gifted."

"Don't think too much," Shiler smiled and said. "You can very well believe that in other places where he doesn't face you, he is just as cold as other Batmen. He is gentle to you only because he has given all his tenderness to you."

Deadpool glanced at Shiler, but in the end, he didn't say anything. Watching Tim's face regain its radiance, he could only secretly say "silly kid" in his heart.

"I think so too," Tim smiled and said. "The atmosphere in the Bat-family is always very good because Batman set a good example for us, not just by treating us gently, but by letting us feel that he truly exists by our side."

"He will set all kinds of assessments for us, but in the end, he gets teased by Cassandra, gets a failing grade himself, and feels frustrated because of it. He will compare himself with others, and when he forgets to bring desserts to our party, he will hire an ice cream truck at a high price, just to win this 'who is the best elder' competition."

"He always feels that Alfred restricts him too much, yet he inherited the nagging personality from the old butler. It's not that his cooking is bad, but he is too good at multitasking and never remembers the principle of not leaving the stove unattended, which led us to change the stove 26 times in one year."

"There are many such things, but I have never heard of them from other versions of me. I always feel that we are heading toward two extremes; the Batman in their universe has no details of life, while the Batman in our universe has no great ambitions."

"Afterward, I was also thinking that it would be great if these two could be merged. But as you said, if the Batman of our universe wasn't facing us, perhaps he wouldn't be like this. If the Batman of other universes were facing us, perhaps he would also become real and cute, just like our father."

"Things in this world are always like this," Deadpool said, carrying a long sword on his shoulder and resting his hands on both sides of the blade. "Only when a person meets the world do they become the person they are now, and only when the world meets a person does it become the world it is now."

"It's as if you feel the current good life is stolen," Shiler looked at Tim and said. "You feel that the more miserable circumstances of others are what you should have deserved, you think you are the anomaly, and that is why you are anxious and full of fear regarding displacement."

"Are you talking about this Batman?" Tim looked away and said, "I think that makes a lot of sense. You really are a good doctor."

"My pleasure."
