Chapter 2841: The Great Battle of the Lego Minifigures! (Part 6)
They slowly walked up the mountain road until the main universe Batman, who had already taken over Wei En Manor, couldn't stand it anymore and sent a car to pick them all up.
Upon seeing Alfred, even if it was a Lego version, Tim still couldn't help but show his affection. He followed the old butler's heels into the kitchen, intending to see if the oven in this manor was big enough to squeeze in some cookies while baking the staple bread.
Unfortunately, no matter which universe's Alfred it was, he had absolute control over snacks and sweets. Tim walked back with a look of disappointment, clearly having failed his intended goal of using pouting to exchange for an extra share of sweets.
The remaining three people studied intelligence in the living room. The main universe Batman had smoothly taken over everything in Wei En Manor, and Alfred was noncommittal about it. The main universe Batman thought this was the most urgent problem that needed to be solved, so he looked at Shiler.
He deliberated and asked, "I lied. If there is only one person in this world who can definitely recognize that I am an impostor, then it wouldn't be the Joker, but Alfred. He is the person who knows me best."
"But he didn't make things difficult for you," Shiler said. "He even tacitly allowed you to do this, and perhaps in some way, he even helped you."
"Yes, because I would never have guessed in my life that the password for the Wei En Manor computer's main control system would be 'I need more cookies'."
Shiler laughed and then said, "You should have sent a car earlier. That way, you could have heard the conversation between Tim and me through the surveillance system."
The main universe Batman frowned. No matter which Shiler it was, he could always grasp the point that made him uncomfortable. Some information he didn't hear was very important, which made him feel like he had a fishbone stuck in his throat.
But he could still handle such scenes well. He gave a light "Oh" and said, "I regret missing your profound insights, Doctor. However, we have plenty of time now. If you could pick out some more important things to say..."
"I am certainly happy to oblige, but picking out 'important' things is probably impossible, because this is a very complete set of logic."
"I won't pay by the hour."
"Then let's make a long story short."
Deadpool choked on his soda. After finally recovering, he rolled his eyes, looked at Shiler, and said, "Spider-Man's astonishing comment about you is really not wrong at all."
"Alright, no more jokes." Shiler sat down on a chair, nodded to Alfred who was serving him tea, and then said, "Batman doesn't want to be Batman. Although he acts like he wants to very much, and even seems like he can't live without this job, he actually doesn't want to."
This logic sounds contradictory at first, similar to 'the more water, the less water' and the like, but the main universe Batman knew that such situations are very common in psychology. Essentially, it is because humans cannot fully understand their own state of mind. Even thoughts for a moment might not come from their original intention, and after putting them into action, they often cause regret.
"Let's assume a person's destiny moves along a track. This track was laid out long ago and cannot be changed no matter what. Whether passing through the ocean or the grassland, the track always extends forward."
"The person sitting in the car cannot decide the direction of the track, so he just keeps moving forward with the car. Because he can only sit in the car and move forward along the established track, he comforts himself by saying the scenery outside the window is not bad."
"Then if the window is closed one day, do you think he can accept it? Of course he can't, because he is sitting in the car and cannot control the steering wheel. With nothing to do but look at the scenery, the scenery outside the window is his only sustenance."
"So if the window is closed, he will feel fear, sadness, and even want to waste time and give up on himself."
"But because he has always relied on looking at the scenery to support his life, in the days without scenery, he will feel that all his discomfort is because the window is closed, and he will never think that essentially it is because he is sitting in the car and the track cannot be changed."
Batman was just about to open his mouth to say something, but Shiler interrupted him as if he had predicted it: "He is different from you. That track leading to a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood was laid by yourself. The process of moving forward in the car is, for you, meeting difficulties head-on and bravely climbing the peak."
"Although the hellish scenery outside the window makes you feel painful, you are not without hands. In a situation where you can choose to close the window and escape, you still do nothing. This is what you chose yourself, great hero."
Batman had nothing to say. He felt he should have chosen to pay by the hour. That way, perhaps the other party would add some modifiers to soften the tone, instead of sounding so sarcastic.
"In such a world without death and injury, there shouldn't have been an established track," Shiler said. "Nor should it have raised a person who only knows how to sit in the car and look at the scenery. But unfortunately, due to some force majeure..."
Deadpool just wanted to open his mouth to express some high-sounding words, but was blocked by Shiler with bread, and received a warning look. Deadpool looked at the slightly suspicious main universe Batman next to him, and finally took a bite of the bread without saying anything.
"In this situation, we came and kicked him out of the car. This might make him feel brief pain because he can no longer move forward, but is instead placed in a wilderness with no tracks, no car, and no windows. This makes him feel at a loss."
"But it's not because he doesn't like this wilderness, it's just that he has never experienced the beauty of being in it. But soon he will discover that this is what he deserves, and what is truly suitable for him."
"You are not him, how can you be so sure?" The main universe Batman raised his own question.
"Ah, I know what you want to say, something like 'You are not a fish, how do you know the joy of a fish?' But get this straight, I am not a philosopher, I am a psychologist."
"Judging from my professional knowledge, the probability of a person having psychological problems while sitting in a car all day looking at the scenery outside the window and doing nothing is much higher than getting out of the car and having fun. I am not responsible for empathy, I am only responsible for curing diseases."
"I know you are going to ask again how the conclusion that the latter is better than the former was reached. Perhaps some people like sitting in the car? I can only tell you that human society has evolved to this point, and the psychological laws followed are traceable. Most people are like this because humans are indeed suitable for this; otherwise, human civilization would not have survived until now."
"If you are the small minority who cannot adapt, then I am not responsible for letting you find your true self, but responsible for teaching you how to disguise yourself as the majority. That is how a psychologist's work operates."
Batman was indeed speechless. He discovered the difference between this Shiler and Dr. Shiler. He does not explore the truth of the human spirit, but only pursues practicality, striving to restore people to normal as quickly as possible so that he can take his consultation fees with peace of mind.
But this does not mean Batman cannot retaliate. He said, "Next, I want to introduce you to something. You will definitely be very happy when you see it."
Shiler leaned over, and Batman took a box from under the table. After opening it, it was full of green banknotes—made of Lego.
Shiler first gasped, then let out a sigh, "If you look at it by scale, this thing isn't even a finger joint long. No universe would recognize this kind of banknote."
"But you..." Shiler clearly had designs on the main universe Batman's property.
"You are not giving me psychological treatment." The main universe Batman slammed the box shut and said, "Take it or leave it."
Shiler eventually took the box away. Lego banknotes were still quite precious; even if they couldn't be spent, they could be collected.
Then Shiler gave his conclusion. He said, "Alfred also wants Batman to see the world outside the car, instead of just following the established track and fighting crimes that don't need to be fought at all. That's why he didn't stop you."
"Does being kidnapped by the Joker count as the world outside the car window?"
"I think you have too many stereotypes about the Joker," Shiler said with some dissatisfaction. "The Joker in this universe is so simple, and you, a demon skilled in mental manipulation, shamelessly deceived the Joker into doing such things, and you still have the nerve to say he kidnapped others?"
"Forget it." Batman was very good at saying such evasive vocabulary that diverted the topic as if it were an order.
But this order was indeed useful. He said forget it, so it was forgotten. No one could argue with him. Shiler was a doctor, so whatever the patient said went. Tim was a junior, so he didn't dare to provoke this Batman too much. And Deadpool, he had already discovered that he was being watched by Batman, so it was better to speak less to prevent dying too ugly.
This is the main reason why Batman is invincible in the Justice League. When he brings up a topic, people feel he must have something important. When he gives up a topic, people feel there must be some hidden story that he is unwilling to mention.
This is also the benefit of speaking less, Batman thought to himself. If he were like the Batman of this universe, who could talk even more than the Joker, then this smokescreen would not be easy to use.
When Alfred brought the afternoon tea, they finally returned to the main topic—discussing whether Tim could eat a third cookie.
Batman stood on the opposing side. He said, "I hope you restrain yourself, not because I am abusing you, but because if you maintain such habits in real life, you will let out a scream in the middle of the night one day, waking up everyone in the manor, and when we are fully equipped and ready to fight the invasion, you will lie on the bed holding your face and saying you have a toothache."
"My God, the me in that universe wouldn't have done that, right?" Tim's attention was indeed attracted. He said, "It's hard to imagine what a hellish and embarrassing scene that is."
Then he secretly glanced at this Batman's expression, feeling that if his life was so colorful, perhaps he might not be just a cold and cruel judge as he thought. At least he wouldn't kill a Tim with a toothache, right?
Shiler naturally saw what Tim was thinking. He just muttered in his heart that this Batman's life was much more colorful than you thought—thanks to you guys from another universe.
"I think you can eat one more." Deadpool stood on the affirmative side. He said, "I think you must know that this is a Lego world, so eating one more doesn't matter, and in the real world you will have a toothache, because this is something a three-year-old can think through."
"So, you can eat sweets here until you vomit, which can satisfy your long-suppressed desires. Maybe you won't want to eat them so much when you go out."
Tim's eyes lit up. He reached out and high-fived Deadpool, made a gesture to him, and said, "I knew you were also a psychology expert!"
Now the two votes were tied, and everyone looked at Shiler. Shiler glanced at the Lego cookies, recalling the scene where Alfred held a sugar jar the size of a head and poured a lethal amount of sugar into the ingredients. He couldn't control himself and showed an expression of disgust.
"Woohoo!" Tim stuffed the cookie into his mouth and said while chewing, "Since you don't want to eat it, then I'll eat it!"
And Batman just shook his head and handed him the coffee he hadn't touched in front of him. Tim happened to be choked, picked up the cup and finished the whole cup of coffee, letting out a long sigh of relief.
Then, he made a move that shocked everyone—Tim threw himself directly into Batman's arms and gave him a hug, "Thank you! Love you the most, Dad!"
With a 'whoosh', Batman appeared five meters away, tightly wrapped in his long cape, and the expression on his face could probably be described as "this world is mostly crazy." ===== CHAPTER 2842 =====
