Chapter 2938: Leisure Time (19)
With a bang, the lights in the interrogation room turned on. Tim was thrown in by Steve by the neck. He dawdled toward the chair behind the table.
Steve took Tim's phone from an agent, lit it up, and found a lock screen password, so he placed it on the table in front of Tim, signaling him to open the phone.
"I really didn't expect you to be such a person." Tim looked up at Steve and said: "They all say Captain America is the brightest and most righteous hero on Earth."
"That depends on how you define brightness and justice." Steve sat down and smiled at him.
Tim cursed "damn blue eyes" in his heart.
Captain America's blue eyes were almost the lightest among all blue eyes, so they looked exceptionally clear, making people feel like they could see the bottom at a glance.
Tim couldn't say he had any prejudice against people with blue eyes, but the fact was, he didn't dare to look at Steve's eyes much.
"You act like an agent head." Tim complained.
"Because I am an agent head, not just now." Steve shook his head lightly, looked at Tim and said: "In the stories you've heard about me, do they portray me as a general fighting bravely on the front line?"
Tim shook his head. He hadn't heard many legends about Captain America, just that he eliminated Hydra.
But Tim was very smart. He thought about it. Hydra wasn't a country, so they didn't have a regular army. Those members who did evil all over the world were actually agents.
Although a regular army wasn't impossible to eliminate agents, in most wars, it was a frontal battlefield against a frontal battlefield. Behind-enemy-lines work was another matter. No one would mobilize an army of hundreds of thousands to fight agents.
And Captain America had always been engaged in behind-enemy-lines work, that is, infiltrating Hydra bases, eliminating Hydra's living forces, or fighting intelligence wars and movement wars with Hydra. In the largest frontal confrontation, there were no artillery and trenches in the frontal battlefield, at most it was street fighting with a unit of a hundred people.
So Captain America actually did the work of an agent head from beginning to end. Tim's question was indeed a bit stupid.
As for those rumors about Captain America, Tim could know the style of these rumors just by listening to them. This was actually government propaganda. They needed a spiritual leader, and Captain America happened to fit everyone's aesthetic, so the government made him a god.
But if he were really a god, he wouldn't have fought Hydra back and forth, and in the end, it could be considered a mutual destruction. He wasn't as strong as the military and government propaganda.
Since he lacked overwhelming power yet could still strike a heavy blow to Hydra, it meant that in aspects other than power, he was on par with Hydra's leaders; he also possessed the professional capabilities a secret agent should have.
Now Tim understood the real reason why Steve taught at the FBI. He didn't change his profession, just returned to his old profession.
"Tim, Jason told me you are very smart, so we don't need to waste time on such small problems. If you tell us what you know as soon as possible, you can leave here as soon as possible. I know you have thousands of plans waiting to be implemented in your brain."
"What do you want to know?" Tim frowned and asked.
"First is the mountain area where you and Schiller were, why did the plant riot happen?"
"I really want to tell you the truth, but the fact is I don't know either." Tim shook his head and said: "Like you, I only know this is Pamela's ability. As for what kind of deal she and Schiller made, I have no idea."
Steve lowered his eyelids and thought for a while, then said: "You want to tell me you have no idea what Schiller is doing? This doesn't quite match Jason's evaluation of you."
Tim gritted his teeth and cursed in his heart, and finally said: "Fine, I once saw him meet with a blind man. I eavesdropped and knew the content of their conversation."
"Blind? What did he call him?"
"Lawyer Ma Te."
Tim told Steve the content of the conversation between Schiller and Ma Te because he knew that since he was caught here, it was impossible not to spit something out. There is gain only if there is giving.
In the dim interrogation room, Steve looked at Tim while taking notes. After he finished recording the conversation between Schiller and Ma Te, he looked at Tim and said: "Just like I said, you could drive the boat to Mexico to avoid being caught, but you still came here."
"Because I want to talk to you." Tim finally sat up straight, placed his hands on the table and said: "How much do you know about the struggle between S. H. I. E. L. D., the FBI, and Hydra?"
Steve's hand on the notebook paused significantly. He said: "This isn't a secret. Anyone can infer the relationship between them, because such things are always happening."
"Yes, then which side are you on?" Tim said with a hint of sarcasm: "Don't say the righteous side. You know there isn't a good pizza on the plate. Without the indulgence of the FBI and S. H. I. E. L. D., there wouldn't be the evil of Hydra's spread. No matter if you represent the FBI or S. H. I. E. L. D., their collective interests require you not to wipe out your old rivals."
"I'm also thinking about this problem." Steve said: "People are always taught to wipe out evil, but the fact isn't that simple. As far as the current situation is concerned, I think S. H. I. E. L. D., which provides the greatest support to the Avengers, has sufficient funding to better maintain world peace."
"Yes, because you represent the interests of the Avengers, and the interests of the Avengers are tied to the interests of S. H. I. E. L. D." Tim said: "And your teaching in the FBI is also under Nick's instruction, showing S. H. I. E. L. D.'s weakness to paralyze the FBI."
"If it weren't for this, how could they dare to self-direct and self-act the big drama of assassinating the congressman? Nothing more than feeling that with you, even if something goes wrong, for the sake of Captain America's reputation, you can't stand by and watch. You make them feel you will wipe their butts, so they dare to take risks and make mistakes, leading to loopholes."
"Radicalism is always easier to make mistakes than conservatism. Nick feeding you as a sedative to the FBI is just to let them take risks and make mistakes, so he can grab their pigtails and give them a punch."
"You are very smart, Tim." Steve said from the heart.
"But I don't understand." Tim looked up at him and said: "From the situation of your Earth, the three parties shouldn't be like this. There must be some external force I don't know controlling all this."
"When it comes to party strife, people will think it's politicians scheming and wasting time, but in fact, it's not. Factional struggle sometimes is an upward force, just like multi-party systems did achieve mutual supervision and checks and balances at the beginning."
"But the premise is that party strife cannot be infinitely expanded, otherwise it will cause disaster. And judging from the situation of this Earth, your party strife is controlled within a reasonable range, indeed showing a state where benefits outweigh the harm."
"How do you say that?" Steve seemed interested and leaned forward.
Tim's fingertips tapped circles on the table and said: "Law enforcement agencies and terrorist organizations are not quite the same as party strife in Congress. You are fighting organizations, to be precise, tools to maintain the basic stability of human society."
"Tools will rust if not sharpened, especially on the eve of the interstellar exploration era. You need more and better agents to maintain order and open up the road during interstellar colonization."
"So, the party strife between these three is essentially training soldiers. The mutual harm between the FBI, S. H. I. E. L. D., and Hydra itself has no meaning, but the process of your mutual struggle is actually screening out the most elite agent talents in the United States."
"Whether it's people from the FBI or S. H. I. E. L. D., or even Hydra, doesn't matter. Aren't they humans? Don't they have feelings for any planet other than Earth?"
"They don't. Their race is their position. Although these three parties are fighting endlessly on Earth, once they need to perform tasks outside of Earth, their overall interests are still unified. Even if it's Hydra, they just want to conquer Earth. If Earth is destroyed, it's no good for anyone."
"In this case, their mutual struggle, pursuit, and coming and going are actually improving the strength of human agents, which is beneficial to humanity as a whole."
Steve nodded, looking at Tim with appreciative eyes. He could infer to this step, proving that his overall situation view had been cultivated.
This is actually a talent. A good strategist needs to have the experience of jumping in as an insider, and also needs to have a transcendent perspective to overlook everything.
Steve knew that the universe Tim was in hadn't developed to the interstellar exploration era. If it weren't for his outstanding talent, his thinking would always revolve around the details of the struggle on Earth or even within a country, and he wouldn't be able to jump out to see the different significance of this struggle to all of humanity.
But since he could do it, it proved that Jason's words were true. Tim was the Robin most like Batman, and he was naturally gifted in reasoning.
"But things aren't that simple." Tim opened his mouth again: "Once party strife starts, it won't be transferred by one or two people's will. Expansion is an inevitable trend, and it will definitely become more and more extreme."
"At first, it might just be small fights for funding, but the losing side will always want to find the place back and take it back with interest, so the snowball naturally rolls bigger and bigger, and then it will deviate from the original intention. In the end, everyone is helpless and cannot look back."
"Judging from the situation of your universe, the FBI, S. H. I. E. L. D., and Hydra have coexisted for so long, the struggle should have expanded to an uncontrollable level long ago, and disaster should have come long ago."
"At that time, normal ways can no longer stop this train with broken brakes. Only by dismantling the most important parts can it be stopped. One side will inevitably be completely destroyed."
"But what makes me feel strange is that it seems no such thing has happened. The struggle between the three parties is magically contained within a range that can train soldiers but is not out of line."
"This means that the three parties or even four parties, including your Avengers, have a force above them that can completely crush you, because only in this way can such a perfect balance be achieved."
Tim sighed lightly and said: "Actually, I used to assume this, but later I felt it was impossible. People have selfishness, and organizations are the same. Even if this organization above everything is completely rational, it has no way to gain insight into the thoughts of everyone under it and cannot precisely control their actions, so there will always be trouble."
"And once one link is out of control, it will be like dominoes, destroying everything into a mess, and even this organization high above will be dragged into the water, making it impossible to clean up." ===== CHAPTER 2939 =====
