Chapter 3085: Romantic

~11 min read 2,135 words

The weather today is quite nice. There is a thin layer of clouds in the sky, which reduces the intensity of the ultraviolet rays and makes the weather less hot. However, the distant sky remains clear, unlike the gloomy, overcast clouds of a rainy day. All in all, it is a great time for outdoor activities.

In the backyard of the Stone House, Peter is warming up by the trampoline. After finishing his warm-up exercises, he steps onto the edge of the trampoline and jumps hard toward the center.

"Woo-hoo!!!"

Peter lets out a cheer, and Pikachu, Rocket Raccoon, and Helen all cheer enthusiastically.

After the fabric was modified, it became softer and more elastic, capable of bouncing even light objects very high. After jumping twice, Peter starts doing tricks, spinning in the air, which draws cheers from the ladies as well.

Having worked up a sweat, Peter slowly comes to a stop and jumps off the trampoline. Helen walks over and asks curiously, "Have you really recovered your Spider-Man abilities? An ordinary person couldn't jump that high."

"Only partially recovered," Peter shakes his head and says, "It's nowhere near as strong as when I was Spider-Man. It just feels a bit more powerful. I don't know if it's true, but maybe I could recover fully if I got bitten by a spider again."

Helen gasps and says, "You're actually planning to get bitten by a spider again? That would be very painful, wouldn't it?"

Peter grimaces, nods vigorously, and says, "Especially painful. After I got back, my wound hurt for at least two months. I even thought about asking Harry to compensate me for my medical expenses."

Helen shudders. It's hard to imagine how she, a Doomsday with a copper head and iron bones, could relate to the pain of a spider bite.

Eddie is dragged to the side of the trampoline by Venom again.

He stretches out both hands, gripping the pole of the umbrella in the middle of the table tightly. Unfortunately, he isn't dragged for long before being pulled over. Venom mimics Peter's warm-up routine a few times, then walks onto the trampoline, swaying with Eddie in tow.

Then comes a series of alternating screams.

Stark watches Eddie bouncing from afar. His fancy moves are even more numerous than Peter's. At most, Peter can spin 270 degrees when jumping into mid-air, but Eddie is different—he doesn't come down without spinning three or four times, looking just like a spinning top.

But one has to admit, it is indeed astonishing. Hearing the bursts of cheers from below, Stark curls his lip in disdain and says, "Isn't he just relying on having a symbiote..."

Eddie was already terrified, and upon hearing this, he roars toward Stark, "Venom! Drag him over to bounce together!"

A black tentacle shoots out with a 'whoosh', sticks to Stark's back, and then with another 'swish', hauls him over.

Now, there are two people screaming.

Shiler sits by the dining table, watching the fun. He says, "Doesn't Iron Man often fly in the sky? What is he screaming about?"

Not every driver with a license dares to go mountain biking; these are two completely different things. Matt and Elektra are picking out golf clubs on the grass nearby.

Little Jack and Little Morgan are being taken by Wanda to sunbathe on the grass nearby. Little Jack can barely run, while Little Morgan is still crawling all over the place. Wanda hugs one and kisses the other, discussing the possibility of having two more children with Jarvis.

Mostly, it is Jarvis trying to persuade Wanda to give up this idea. Although there is no danger for the Scarlet Witch to give birth, having too many children is truly too noisy. Jarvis, a robot, has had his programs scrambled by their noise.

If Wanda still wants children, by the time the new ones are born, the Billy twins might just be two or three years old. With the babbling on one side and the wailing on the other, Jarvis's CPU would be fried.

Peter goes to change his clothes. When he comes out, he says to Shiler, "Doctor, is that little car from before still here? I want to go to the airport to pick up Harry and the others."

Shiler stands up immediately and asks, "Harry has already arrived?"

"Yes, he came with Mary. Don't worry, they just reconciled and are in their honeymoon phase now; they won't fight."

Shiler shakes his head helplessly. Over the years, Harry and Mary have been on and off; it would be big news if they didn't break up two or three times a year.

Shiler leads Peter toward the garage. As they walk, Peter says, "Old Mr. Osborn hasn't been in good health these past few years. He's been unable to handle the company's various businesses. Harry has taken over most of the work and has gained more freedom. Perhaps it won't be long before he and Mary can finally tie the knot."

"You're very optimistic," is all Shiler can say.

Peter catches the hidden meaning in Shiler's words, but he doesn't refute it, because he clearly knows that the problems between Harry and Mary are far from being as simple as Old Osborn's opposition.

Peter always felt that the moment Harry didn't stand up for her during Old Osborn's first objection, their relationship was destined to fail.

But Peter also understands his brother. The choice between choosing one's father or one's girlfriend shouldn't exist in the first place. However, Old Osborn and Mary are both very strong-willed people who cannot tolerate even a grain of sand in their eyes, while Harry is not that assertive. He is like a roly-poly toy being pushed back and forth, destined to be caught in the middle, troubled on both sides.

They soon arrive at the garage door. The little car isn't parked inside. Shiler sits directly in the driver's seat, takes the key, and starts the ignition, telling Peter to sit in the back.

"Old Osborn's health is poor? Didn't he develop the special medicine for the symbiote factor?"

"Oh, no, his poor health isn't due to his hereditary disease," Peter says. "He's just old, and his liver has developed some problems."

"Hasn't he applied to the Anquan Bureau for a therapeutic symbiote?"

"He doesn't trust that thing," Peter sighs helplessly. "He doesn't allow anything with autonomous thought to enter his body. He even wanted to persuade Nick to stop this project."

Shiler also shakes his head. People always become more stubborn as they age. Old Osborn was never enlightened to begin with—far worse than Howard. He is that very common type of patriarch with a strong desire for control. Now that he's older, once he gets stubborn, no one can talk him out of it.

The project of using symbiotes to treat illnesses was implemented about two or three years ago, mainly for treating organ damage-related diseases, such as tumors, cirrhosis, pulmonary fibrosis, organ damage, etc.

Symbiotes can perfectly devour cancer cells and can also convert their own symbiote factors into cells that humans can use to repair organs. It can be considered the most advanced means of treating cancer currently mastered by humanity.

The number of symbiotes is actually quite large, and they can continue to divide. However, considering safety, Nick does not allow them to over-reproduce. Currently, there are about 200 symbiotes participating in the treatment plan.

But these 200 symbiotes are not general practitioners; they each have their own strengths. Some symbiotes are good at devouring, while others can create cells, much like different medical instruments.

For those humans who have made outstanding contributions to human civilization, they can apply to the Anquan Bureau for this type of treatment plan. The treatment cycle is usually about half a year, and the current cure rate is 100%.

The biggest advantage of this treatment method is that the patient does not suffer pain. The symbiotes can block pain nerves, and the treatment process is usually completed in their sleep. The patient only needs to stay at the Anquan Bureau for half a year, and the cancer will disappear completely, and their lifespan will be extended.

Although it sounds perfect, many problems have been encountered in actual execution. The most common one is that these people do not trust the Anquan Bureau or alien life forms.

Most of those who can use this type of treatment plan are not ordinary people; they are either financial titans who have created business empires, outstanding leaders who lead a country, or genius scientists.

These people have many secrets in their minds that they intend to take to their graves. Some secrets are even more important than their lives, so many of them are unwilling to participate even if they know about this plan.

Wealthy people and politicians don't trust the Anquan Bureau, and scientists don't trust alien life. Combining these two perfectly hits the sensitive spots of this group of people, so not many people are currently receiving treatment.

Nick has thought about making this technology accessible so that ordinary people's cancer can also be treated, but he doesn't fully trust the symbiotes either. Popularization means difficulty in supervision.

This thing is like a cockroach in the house; once one symbiote is out of sight, there will be ten thousand. At that time, it would instead bring disaster to ordinary people.

Shiler calculates in his mind. Old Osborn is indeed no longer young. He suffered from a hereditary disease when he was young, so his health was never very good. He often socialized while building his career. It is estimated that he will report to God in a few years.

It is actually a good thing that he can calmly accept death, because after all, the Green Goblin was created back then because he was unwilling to accept death. But Shiler still feels a bit of regret; another morning star from the previous era is about to fall.

The car soon drives to the airport. Before long, a flying shuttle stops at the platform. Harry Osborn, dressed in a suit, walks out holding the glamorous Mary Jane.

Harry and Peter hug, and Mary also greets him with a smile, and they walk toward the outside of the airport together.

However, upon seeing the little golf course car, Harry looks a bit hesitant. Mary wants to walk forward, but he stops her.

"What's wrong? Harry, is there a problem with the car?" Peter turns his head and asks.

"Ah, no, it's a great golf cart, but, I mean, is there anything with a bit more comfort..."

"Come on, what's wrong with you? You won't find your high-end sports cars here," Peter says, half-jokingly.

Shiler's gaze, however, falls on Mary. Mary smiles sweetly at Peter and says, "Don't blame him, Peter, he's just worried about me."

"Worried about you? How are you... Oh, God, no way? Tell me this isn't true." Peter stares at Harry with bright eyes. He looks at Mary's lower abdomen and says, "Could it be that I'm going to have a nephew?"

"Yes! Buddy! And you'll be his godfather!" Harry finally can't help it, rushes up, and hugs Peter.

"When did this happen?" Peter pushes him away, takes Mary's hand, and walks down from the edge of the lawn, letting her stand on more stable ground.

"We only found out last week; it's only been a month."

"My God, I really can't believe it. You actually have a child; how can this be true?!" Peter looks incredulous and says, "I still feel like we're in college!"

"I had the same expression when I first found out, but yes, God always plays such jokes."

"Are you two planning to..." Peter's gaze starts to scan back and forth between the two. He is obviously referring to Old Osborn's opposition.

Peter has worked at the Osborn Group for so long, so of course, he knows that while a child is not enough to make Old Osborn completely relent, his current health condition is poor. Such an old-fashioned person naturally hopes to see his son build a family and raise offspring; otherwise, it would always be a regret.

So he thought Harry and Mary were planning to have a child so that Old Osborn would have to agree whether he wanted to or not.

Mary shakes her head and says, "We met again after a long time that day, and we both drank. We don't remember what happened..."

Harry has the same helpless expression. He really didn't have the guts to present his father with a fait accompli, but such is the unpredictability of life.

"It seems this child is truly a gift from God," Shiler says. "You wait a moment, I'll call Loki over." ===== CHAPTER 3086 =====
