Chapter 3120: Romantic
"If you are truly uneasy, the two of us can make a trip."
"What?!" Rocket Raccoon looked at Lila in shock and said, "Come on, you just finished poisoning them, are you trying to walk right into a trap?"
"I said that wasn't poisoning." Lila shook her head and said, "Do you think I didn't inquire about the situation in the Andromeda Galaxy before taking the mission? Or do you think I wouldn't recognize Professor X?"
Rocket Raccoon was stunned. Of course, he didn't think Lila was such a reckless person. In fact, for an otter to survive so well in the universe, it was entirely due to her caution and thorough preparation for everything before taking action.
Since that was the case, she must have known there was a telepathic mutant in the Andromeda Galaxy. This meant that if the facts were as she said, she wouldn't be afraid of being discovered by mutants at all, because once they read her mind, they would know she wasn't lying.
Moreover, she must have known that Professor X was not the type to kill a thousand innocent people rather than let one guilty person go. He was relatively gentle; even toward aliens, as long as the other party still had some value, he wouldn't kill the innocent indiscriminately.
Perhaps Lila stayed in the Andromeda Galaxy on purpose. After all, with her skills, even if she had to enter the central area of the Andromeda Galaxy to poison them, she could still escape. Why did she have to find a planet to fake her death and then wait for someone to save her? She would be found sooner or later this way.
"Originally, I would have been discovered by them there, and they would have known the secrets in my mind," Lila said. "But now that you've brought me to Earth, the plan has been interrupted. I have to go back."
"I don't understand what good this does you. The High Evolutionary won't give you extra pay for this, will he?"
"Of course not. In fact, I did this to avoid revealing information about my employer." Lila then stated her true purpose. She said, "It's one thing for me to tell you voluntarily, but it's another thing entirely for mutants to capture me and read my mind, unfortunately leaking the news."
"But what good does doing this..." Rocket Raccoon said halfway before realizing. Of course, Lila doing this had its benefits.
She had said before that she wanted to destroy the political achievements of the enemies who had ruined the Half-World Asylum, and now all the results of the Life Fusion Project had fallen into the hands of the Shi'ar Empire.
She couldn't fight such a large empire by herself, so of course, she had to think of other ways, and the most effective method was to borrow a knife to kill.
Once the mutants knew of the existence of this project, they would certainly not let it go easily. The destructive power of this group of mutants was much greater than that of a tiny otter like Lila.
Lila continued, "When I took this mission, I told the High Evolutionary that mutants are not to be trifled with, and that there might be one of the strongest telepaths in the universe among them. I wasn't sure I could escape unscathed, which meant he clearly knew the consequences of me being captured."
"I understand, so he really didn't intend to poison the mutants." Rocket Raccoon nodded and said.
"That's right," Lila said. "He isn't afraid of mutants coming to his door to cause trouble because he has a clear conscience. That kind of virus couldn't kill mutants at all. As long as the mutants find any laboratory of the three major empires to test it, they will know that this virus was clearly specially modified to produce antibodies, not some poison."
"Then why on earth did he make this thing? Could it be that he wants the mutants to owe him a favor?"
"That might be one reason, but on the other hand..."
Lila dragged out a long tone, making Rocket Raccoon scratch his ears and cheeks in anxiety. But at this moment, Lila suddenly looked to her other side and said, "Professor, how much longer do you intend to listen?"
After a moment of silence, a gentle voice sounded in Rocket's ear, "Sorry, I didn't intend to eavesdrop on your conversation, but I have some matters to discuss with this Ms. Lila now. Can we talk?"
Rocket Raccoon's fur stood on end.
Professor X!!!
The deterrent power of the strongest telepath in the universe lies in this: you never know when or in what way he has invaded your mind, leaving you completely unaware and without any defense.
"Please don't worry, little one. My children and the members of the Guardians of the Galaxy are good friends. Polaris has always wanted to go find you to play, but she has been busy with work lately and couldn't get away. I have no malice toward you either. We have already found out the truth about the virus."
After the initial horror, Rocket gradually calmed down. In fact, he had dealt with such people many times, and the Guardians of the Galaxy had also taken missions within the Andromeda Galaxy. Mutants were not all bombs that would go off at the slightest touch.
He thought that Reed seemed to have said last night that the results were out. Professor X had telepathy, so he must have known at that time. Looking at his attitude, what Lila said should be true.
But why on earth did the High Evolutionary do this?
Lila stood up and said, "It's not convenient to talk here. Let's make a trip to the Andromeda Galaxy. Can you open a portal for us?"
"My pleasure, ma'am."
A few seconds later, a pitch-black wormhole appeared behind them, and Rocket Raccoon was shocked again.
When he looked closely, he realized that this thing wasn't a portal at all; this damn thing was a black hole!
What kind of decent person uses a black hole as a portal!
Magneto could.
But clearly, this extremely small black hole was controllable, otherwise, they wouldn't dare to open this thing on Earth. This might not be his home base, but it was definitely the home base of the mutants. No one would blow up their own home base.
"Let's go," Lila said. "I heard you've always been hanging out with someone called Star-Lord. I'd like to go see them..."
The fur on Rocket Raccoon's tail immediately stiffened. If Star-Lord were really here now, he would definitely be able to tell that this little raccoon was shy.
Passing through the wormhole, Rocket Raccoon and Lila arrived in a spacious and bright office, where an old man with a shaved head sitting in a wheelchair looked at them with a smile.
Fortunately, the guy who opened the wormhole wasn't there. Rocket Raccoon breathed a sigh of relief. No one mixing in the universe didn't know that Magneto was not to be trifled with.
"Good morning, ma'am, and this gentleman."
Rocket Raccoon shivered and said, "Don't, don't be so polite. I'd rather you call me a little bastard like your daughter..."
Professor X's eyebrows furrowed slightly. He said in a rather apologetic tone, "Polaris has a bit of a quick temper sometimes. Don't take it to heart. And she is not my daughter, but Erik's."
"Alright, enough with the pleasantries, let's get to the point." Rocket Raccoon also had a pile of questions in his heart. He said, "You must have seen everything in Lila's mind. What are your thoughts?"
"I hope I can have a chance to explain. I don't look at things in other people's minds at will." Professor X remained very gentle.
"Then please take a look now," Lila spoke up. "This story is too long, and I really don't want to tell it again."
"Regardless of whether it's true or not, seeing it now, but anyway," Professor X paused, then said, "So that's how it is. I didn't expect such past events. I express my regrets for what you and your friends have encountered."
"No need," Lila waved her hand and said, "Regarding that Life Fusion Project, what are your thoughts?"
"We will try to investigate," Professor X continued. "However, the situation in the Andromeda Galaxy is giving us a headache right now. I think we have to solve this matter first."
"Then let's not beat around the bush. You go and solve the Life Fusion Project, and I will tell you how to find the High Evolutionary."
"Ma'am, I'm afraid we don't need you to..."
"If you could really find the High Evolutionary without me, you would have found him long ago," Lila said. "Although this guy also came from Earth, he is clearly no longer a creature of the same level as you. He's not that easy to find. Right now, I'm afraid only I know the way to find him."
Professor X paused to ponder.
"Actually, we don't have to find him," Professor X said. "According to our investigation, the virus he dropped really doesn't have much harm. Except for causing a little chaos, it didn't cause any casualties. We can choose not to hold him accountable."
"You can, but some people can't, right?" Lila said.
Professor X was silent again. Soon he smiled and said, "It seems you know mutants very well, ma'am. I do have a friend with a quick temper, but I'm curious, if you betray the High Evolutionary and cause him to clash with Magneto, how will you protect yourself?"
"That's not something you should worry about," Lila shook her head and said. "I'm not the type to force a sale either. Perhaps you can drag it out a bit longer to see if you can find him on your own. If you can't, come back to me."
After thinking for a while, Professor X said, "Every decision I make determines the future of mutants, so I must be cautious enough. I hope you can understand me, ma'am."
"I will, Professor. The fact that we still have free thought and the ability to act right now proves that you are a truly good person."
Although Lila's attitude was not very polite from beginning to end, this sentence was somewhat heartfelt.
Professor X smiled and said, "The scenery on the capital planet is still quite good. The two of you can go around. Once there is news, we will notify you immediately."
Lila didn't say anything either, pulling Rocket Raccoon to walk out. When she reached the door, she suddenly turned back and said, "That's best to be quick, you don't have much time left."
Watching the backs of the two small animals disappear, Professor X slowly furrowed his brows. A dagger trembled in the air. Professor X looked toward that direction and said, "Alright, Erik, the material of otter skin is not soft, and I don't need a new scarf."
Magneto's pitch-black figure appeared in the room. Professor X spoke to himself, "I think you also understand the content of this deal. Ms. Otter hopes we can help her terminate the Life Fusion Project, while she leads us to find the High Evolutionary to figure out what's going on, especially to figure out what the impending disaster she mentioned is."
"But what she doesn't know is that even without the High Evolutionary matter, we must figure out what this Life Fusion Project is about, because this is something in the hands of the Shi'ar Empire nobles after all. The Queen has tolerated them for a long time."
"Are you going to agree to her?" Magneto asked.
After a moment of thought, Professor X said, "Schiller called to talk about this the other day. He was hinting at something. I think I should ask for his advice... What time is it in America now?"
"Midnight."
"This matter cannot be delayed. I'll make a trip into his dream."
Professor X slowly closed his eyes. Magneto didn't disturb him, just turning the exquisite dagger in mid-air over and over.
Suddenly, Professor X opened his eyes wide. Magneto saw shock in his eyes.
"What's wrong?"
Professor X muttered to himself.
"No, it's nothing... They seem to have run into big trouble."
"Big trouble? What big trouble?"
"I'm not quite sure, but I see the Goddess of Radiance, the Iron Demon God, the Scarlet Witch, and several mysterious and powerful Spider-Men fighting the enemy together."
Professor X suddenly looked up at Magneto and said.
"More importantly, Schiller is also on the battlefield!"
Magneto's expression immediately became serious. ===== CHAPTER 3121 =====
