Chapter 3119
"Why are you here?"
The feeling of someone who has just fallen asleep in a dream is similar to the feeling of someone who has just woken up in reality; both are muddled, at the critical point between dream and reality, which makes people feel a bit dazed.
"You have to ask them about that," the Dream-Powered Doctor Strange says, pointing behind Schiller.
Schiller turns his head and sees a group of people looking at him with unfriendly gazes. They are the very people who participated in the game during the day, and standing behind them are some who didn't participate but watched.
Schiller helplessly tilts his head and says, "Is it really necessary? Isn't it just losing a game during the day?"
"The one during the day doesn't count," Stark says. "What's fun about those cards? There are too many restrictions. Why don't we play for real!"
Schiller wants to say something, but Stark continues, "I heard from Eddie that this friend of yours can create illusions that are identical to reality, and can create any kind of illusion. Let's play another round right here!"
"Tony, that's enough!" Schiller says with some impatience. "Isn't it just playing a board game? I didn't win your money..."
Stark rolls his eyes and says, "How about this: I'll put up 10 million dollars as a prize, winner takes all. How about that?"
As soon as he finishes speaking, his wrist is grabbed. Schiller drags him toward the crowd and says, "It just so happens I didn't play enough during the day. Let's go."
After they walk over, everyone is discussing. Wanda says with no lack of complaint, "Jarvis and I tried to adjust the balance, but no matter what we did, it didn't work. The restrictions were still too many, so we thought, why don't we just play like this?"
"What do you mean 'just play like this'?" Peter asks with some curiosity.
"Look, this is a dream. It doesn't matter what happens, right? Anyway, we'll forget it when we wake up tomorrow morning..."
Peter nods.
"Then we can fully unleash ourselves here," Wanda says with some excitement. "Fighting here won't affect reality, so we can actually fight for real."
"That won't do," Peter says. "Do you think I'm stupid? I can't beat you."
"No, not that kind of real fight. Wouldn't that just be a drill? What we're playing now is a game. I think we can fully rely on our real-world abilities and use our imagination to play."
Peter seems to understand a little. He says, "You mean we only set one most basic rule, but there are no card stats or skills or anything like that, and we play entirely based on our own imagination?"
"Yes, that's it."
"That's too ridiculous," Eddie interjects. "Can I say I'm the King of the Universe now?"
"That definitely won't work," Wanda says. "First, you can't violate the rules. Second, it can't be too ridiculous. It has to be based on your strength and identity in reality."
"Then who judges whether it works or not?"
"The host, of course." Wanda pulls the Dream-Powered Doctor Strange over and says, "The entire dream is conjured by him, and he understands each of us, so of course he can judge whether it works."
The Dream-Powered Doctor Strange is quite professional. He thinks for a moment, nods, and says, "No problem. As long as it doesn't exceed the upper limit of my conjuring ability and doesn't violate the most basic logic and common sense, it can be counted as passing."
"Then you can present that kind of scene?" Peter asks with some curiosity.
The Dream-Powered Doctor Strange nods and asks, "What kind of game do you want to play?"
"Uh..."
Wanda hasn't thought it through yet, but Schiller has already dragged Stark over. Stark shouts, "Let's play that Hydra Arrival thing from the day! I still don't believe it!"
"You want to fight Hydra Arrival again?" Wanda turns back to ask him.
"That's right, but that's not the main point." Stark looks at Schiller and says, "We want to know who we're fighting, and someone should have a clear idea about that."
Schiller spreads his hands and says, "I don't mind. If you want to fight, I'll accompany you. If it really doesn't work, I can move the Tower of Thought back..."
"That won't be necessary!" Peter hurriedly interrupts. "I think a virtual dream is fine. Doctor, don't trouble yourself with such a grand display."
"Then it's decided," Stark says with a wave of his hand. "Fight Hydra first. I must avenge Pepper! Who wants to participate?"
Those who participated during the day all want to join, and those who watched during the day naturally want to participate as well. After all, the board game didn't have their decks, but playing this kind of imagination-based game doesn't have so many restrictions. Everyone has the same brain; who is worse than whom?
"Alright," the Dream-Powered Doctor Strange nods and says, "Now everyone tell me your identity and abilities. It's best to be accurate and detailed. Tell me all the abilities you want to use in the upcoming battle. Of course, if you haven't thought of them now, you can ask me directly later if you can use them."
Loki, standing at the back of the crowd, reaches out her hand and asks, "Can any ability be used?"
"Yes, as long as you can think of it and it conforms to logic, it's fine."
Loki is lost in thought, but Stark can't wait anymore. To prevent not being comprehensive enough, he asks the Dream-Powered Doctor Strange for a piece of paper and begins to write, clearly intending to write down everything he knows.
Others follow suit and begin to write furiously. Schiller isn't that serious; he writes a few strokes and hands it to the Dream-Powered Doctor Strange.
After everyone hands in their papers, this strange dream finally raises its curtain.
The scene begins to change. First, the air becomes humid and cold. A heavy smell of blood blows from the distance, screams and wails emerge faintly in the ears, and the whispers that can drive people crazy sound from time to time.
Matt is not a blind man in the dream, but his senses in this regard are still sharp. He frowns deeply.
The ground under their feet begins to become muddy. As soon as Wanda lifts her foot, she finds her boots stained with sticky gray mud. When she tries to lift the other foot, she finds it is already about to sink into the swamp.
"Retreat! Retreat quickly!" the experienced Captain America shouts immediately. "Those who can fly, fly up quickly! Then drag the others out!"
Wanda only then realizes that the game has started. She is the Scarlet Witch and can naturally fly, but this is a dream after all, and she isn't quite sure if her abilities are handy.
She just follows her usual method, using the Scarlet Power to try to fly out, but she can't fly at all.
"Doctor Strange! What's going on?!"
"I'm not a tapeworm in your stomach. You need to tell me in advance what you want to do," the Dream-Powered Doctor Strange says.
"I want to fly! Use Scarlet Power to fly!"
After speaking, Wanda immediately flies up. She breathes a sigh of relief and hurriedly drags the people around her out, but just carrying them like this isn't a solution.
Stark immediately understands how to play this game. He shouts, "Mech Armor!"
*Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh! * Countless mech fragments fly over from the distance and arm themselves onto his body. Stark looks down—Justice Execution!
He immediately laughs loudly and says, "Summon Armed Flight Platform!"
Another pile of parts combines in a strange way to summon a platform. Stark looks at this platform with some disdain and says, "This isn't my Armed Flight Platform either. This design makes it impossible to fly..."
The next second, the newly assembled flight platform crashes into the swamp.
The Scarlet Witch, who had just landed on it, falls flat on her face. She yells at Stark, "Can you shut up!"
Stark says with some embarrassment, "Fine, fine, fine, I won't say anything. Just make me another armed platform. I'll pretend it can fly."
Another armed platform is assembled. This time Stark learns his lesson; although he is still a bit disdainful, he doesn't say anything more. The Scarlet Witch fishes out everyone below who can't fly, and everyone stands on the flight platform together.
The swamp is continuously spreading. Around them, there is no longer the white mist of a normal dream space, but it is filled with faint cold air and rising gray fog.
Suddenly, bubbles begin to rise constantly in the muddy swamp. Peter lies next to the platform's railing and looks down, seeing a skull slowly rising.
"Ah!!!"
That skull is almost completely rotten, which gives Peter a big fright. Stark still thinks he is making a fuss, but he leans over to look and also gets a fright.
This is no longer the kind of comic drawn on a card, but a truly terrifying scene that is several times more realistic than reality. Not only is the visual very terrifying, but the stench of decay is also very obvious.
And what is even more terrifying is that on this endless swamp, countless rotten skulls are floating up. The skulls of humans, birds, reptiles, and many terrifying monsters whose species cannot be identified at all just float up from the swamp quietly.
Suddenly, it becomes bright.
The light piercing through the clouds does not come from the sun, but from a bright moonlight. When the moonlight is too bright, it inevitably produces a strange aura. Everyone only sees a giant, looming eye behind the thick clouds.
Feelings of panic and unease spread uncontrollably. Everyone keeps hypnotizing themselves in their hearts that this is a dream, but the scene is too realistic, making it hard for them to deceive themselves.
Peter swallows and says, "Are we really going to fight this thing?"
"Of course!" Stark has always been the most stubborn dead duck. He knocks on the railing, attracts everyone's attention, and says, "It's fake anyway, and we all have our own abilities, so what are we afraid of? Beat him up!"
"It's not certain who is beating whom," Loki says, standing on the platform with her arms crossed, staring at the giant figure in the distance. She says, "What we want to do has to be said out loud, but the opponent doesn't have to. This means our reaction time is much shorter than the opponent's. Are you sure you can beat him?"
"If you want to desert, suit yourself!" Stark says irritably, and then he roars toward the air, "Activate armor! I want to punch these skulls first!"
Loki looks at Stark's back, lost in thought.
She turns back to look at Schiller and finds Schiller leaning on the railing looking down, seemingly very interested in the floating skulls as well.
The moon in the real world is also hanging alone in the sky, casting silver light that illuminates the flat but slightly weathered stone roof of the Stone House.
A furry paw pushes open the door to the rooftop. Rocket Raccoon, sitting on the eaves, turns his head and sees Lylla's head poking out from the rooftop. Soon, the whole otter jumps onto the roof, walks over, and sits down beside Rocket Raccoon.
"What are you thinking about, Rocket?"
"Nothing. If I have to say, it's probably about the Andromeda Galaxy. I always feel that the one called the High Evolutionary isn't that simple."
"Is that so? I actually think he's an interesting human."
"You must still have something you haven't told us, right?"
"I suppose so, but actually, many things don't need to be known so clearly. This has nothing to do with you, does it?"
"No, although I don't think of myself as a raccoon, I feel close to Earth not because this might be my hometown, but because my friends are here, and I like them very much."
"But that is the Andromeda Galaxy."
"I just don't want them to worry about the Andromeda Galaxy."
"I don't see them having any worries; they played cards all day today."
Rocket Raccoon is speechless.
