Chapter 3443

~11 min read 2,020 words

Bruce replied to the phone with a mumble. Pamela sat to the side, rolling her eyes. Harley had a cigarette in her mouth, leaning on the armrest of the sofa, her gaze scanning the dance floor.

After a long while, Bruce slapped the phone onto the table with a *thwack*, leaning back dejectedly, looking as if he had passed out completely from drunkenness.

Harley took out her phone and started taking pictures of Bruce, using her other hand to take the cigarette out of her mouth, exhaling a puff of smoke and saying: "This is first-hand juicy material of Batman getting drunk late at night. If people from other universes saw this, wouldn't their jaws hit the floor?"

Pamela reached out to push Bruce, but Bruce waved his hand and knocked hers away. Pamela leaned forward, stretched her arm over to Harley's side to swipe the cigarette, and lit one for herself, putting it in her mouth.

"I really don't know how long he's going to keep acting crazy." Pamela exhaled a puff of smoke, but it sounded more like a sigh, "I was wrong; I shouldn't have thought that him not being Batman was a good thing. He should learn more from Batman."

"Damn Batman!" Bruce muttered, turning over, arms crossed, and falling asleep toward the other side.

Pamela called the waiter over, ordered another drink, took a sip, and curled her lips from the spiciness.

Harley's elbows were propped on her legs as she played with her phone, rows upon rows of messages scrolling past on the screen; she seemed to be battling with memes in a group chat.

In the dim light, Pamela saw Harley's phone and said: "Is this a new model from Wei En Enterprises?"

"Of course not, this is a phone from another world." Harley shook the phone in her hand and said, "Didn't we go to another world to play a while ago? Everyone bought one. It's a touchscreen, and it's so smooth."

When she said this, Bruce sat bolt upright, then, like a sleepwalker, rushed to Harley's side and snatched the phone from her hand.

"What are you doing?!" Harley was startled by him, her hand hesitating for a moment, but she still didn't snatch her phone back, instead unable to help asking, "Are you so poor that you can't even afford a phone?"

Bruce didn't speak, starting to repeatedly check the system of Harley's phone, debugging the buttons, observing the phone's interface back and forth.

"Do you know that your look right now is exactly like that of a mad scientist?" Harley looked at him, then reached out to Pamela and said, "I'm not talking about you. You're not crazy enough when you're not short on money."

Pamela seemed to finally be unable to stand it anymore; she walked over, grabbed Bruce's shoulders, turned him around, and then hauled him back to his original position.

The drunk Bruce held onto the phone and wouldn't let go, looking left and right, up and down, and only fell asleep again after a while.

But he still held onto that phone tightly; Pamela tried for a long time but couldn't get the phone out of his hands.

Harley waved her hand and said: "It's fine, I have another one here."

After saying that, she pulled another phone out of her coat pocket; it looked even more advanced than the previous one and even had a holographic projection.

Fortunately, Bruce didn't suddenly go crazy this time, slumping on the sofa, looking as if he had completely fallen asleep.

Pamela picked up her wine glass again, glanced at Bruce's profile, and said: "I think we should do something to change his crazy state. Otherwise, this life is impossible to live."

Harley was still playing with her phone nonchalantly and said: "Before changing his state, we have to figure out what he's going crazy about."

Pamela counted on her fingers: "Professor Schiller should have already given up on chasing him for his thesis, ruled out. Cat Getan hasn't had any major malicious incidents recently, ruled out. Thomas and Martha have returned to the main world, they shouldn't be putting any pressure on him, ruled out. Dick and the others haven't had any major life events recently that he needs to worry about, ruled out."

"Then what else could it be? It couldn't be because I had a fight with Talia, could it?"

Harley's eyes widened and she said: "You had a fight with Talia, why?"

Pamela immediately started changing the subject, saying: "That's not important, it definitely has nothing to do with Bruce's current state."

"Then he must have had a fight with Selina." Harley said, "I guess it might be because of some issue like Aisha's education. Probably."

"But haven't they had fights before? It wasn't this serious, was it?" Pamela revealed a look of recollection, then said, "Aisha has been fine lately, she can even put words into sentences; he should be happy about that."

"Could it be Superman?"

"You mean he had a fight with Clark?" Pamela obviously didn't believe it, saying, "Clark would absolutely never fight with him. He has such a good temper, how could he possibly fight with Bruce on purpose?"

"That's hard to say." Harley pouted while calling the waiter over for wine, then said, "According to my observations, the positions of Batman and Superman in our universe are reversed."

"Reversed?"

"Pretty much." Harley nodded and said, "In other universes, Batman is the more firm one, while Superman is always very gentle and prone to insecurity."

Pamela thought for a moment and said: "Looking at it this way, it really seems to be the case. Between Bruce and Clark, Clark is clearly the more firm one; he knows what he wants and what he's doing. And Bruce... perhaps he still gets lost sometimes."

"I don't think he's lost, he just needs more emotion." Harley took the ice bucket to add more ice to her wine, then said, "In other universes, compared to Batman who is more like a god, Superman is more like an ordinary person and has higher emotional needs. But in our universe, it's reversed; Clark is like a god, and Bruce is more like an ordinary person."

"And humans and gods are destined to be unable to coexist peacefully." Pamela continued, "Either one kills the other, but what's worse is another situation: they become friends, and one wants to love the other."

"Sounds like human history." Harley said, "They built their entire society in this cycle. But this cycle isn't like a vortex in a sink, but rather a storm, or a waterwheel turning until it's about to break, looking both fierce and heavy."

"So Bruce is going crazy."

"Then what about you and Talia? Are you guys like that too?"

"We are clearly the former." Pamela said, "And unfortunately, the role I play in this game is the god that is to be killed. But fortunately, I am more skilled."

Harley rolled her eyes and said: "That's the Green of the Earth being more skilled. I guess when he finds out you used his power to solve the trouble left by your one-night stand, he'll want to kill you too."

"Then you underestimate him; I even used his power for that one-night stand. I'm still living just fine." Pamela exhaled a puff of smoke indifferently.

"To borrow a phrase from a doctor in another world—when you have no shame, no one can beat you."

"Seriously, if the fact that Batman gets drunk for Superman were known by them in other universes, God's phone would be blown up." Pamela continued, "They must have a reason. I mean, weren't they just teaming up in the Battleworld?"

"Maybe the problem is right here." Harley said, "Perhaps they don't have enough tacit understanding. Bruce feels he's too weak and is holding him back?"

"Absolutely impossible." Pamela denied it flatly, "Tacit understanding is one thing, but they were playing a restricted dungeon; in this kind of dungeon, Bruce should be the stronger one."

"Then it's that Clark feels he's too weak and doesn't want to team up with him anymore, and then Bruce got sad."

Pamela was still frowning, obviously not agreeing with this statement; she bit the glass with her canine teeth, making a *click-clack* sound, thinking while saying: "If you compare Batman in other universes to a cat and Superman to a dog, it's very reasonable for the cat to often feel the dog is annoying. But in our universe, Superman is the cat and Batman is the dog. If the cat feels the dog is annoying, then it must be Superman feeling Batman is annoying, but Superman wouldn't feel others are annoying, and even less likely to feel Bruce is annoying."

"That's right, didn't you hear him on the phone just now? Clark even took the initiative to invite him to a couple's night. He didn't even invite us!"

"We aren't a couple." Pamela said, "Of course, although I think we could be..."

Harley immediately stretched out a hand and said: "Stop. Before discussing this topic, solve the problem between you and that female assassin first."

"It's solved, didn't I solve her?"

"Does physical resolution count as resolution? And you haven't completely solved her physically yet. Alright, aren't we talking about Bruce?"

"I think the problem isn't with Clark." Pamela said decisively, "Either Bruce is crazy, or..."

"Or what?"

"Or the two of us are crazy, accompanying Bruce Wei En to a bar, he gets drunk, and the two of us have to figure out how to carry him back later."

"What's hard about that? You just use vines to roll him up..."

"Carrying him away is of course not hard, what's hard is how to dodge all kinds of tabloid reporters. You don't want to be one of his peach-blossom news items, do you?"

"I don't really care." Harley took a sip of wine and said, "If the two of us ended up in the news together, I'd go to Wei En Tower to ask for money; he'd at least have to give me a few million to seal my mouth."

Pamela rolled her eyes, her peripheral vision glancing at Bruce again. Bruce was sleeping soundly; he was like a madman when drinking and dancing, but like a dead person when asleep.

A vine crawled out from under the sofa; Pamela walked over, pretending to carry Bruce, but actually relying entirely on the vine to support him, while Harley supported him on the other side, and the three of them stumbled out of the bar.

Then they saw Clark Kent.

"Now this peach-blossom news is going to spread to Metropolis." Harley smiled and said, "Without giving me ten million, it absolutely won't be sealed."

Clark frowned at Bruce, who was as drunk as mud, but still took him from Pamela's hands.

"His car is over there." Pamela pointed to the intersection on the right and said, "The most flashy one is his, that's right, that bright purple Porsche 911."

Clark looked back; the car was very conspicuous, almost becoming a landmark of the bar street, but even more conspicuous were the long guns and short cannons ambushed beside the car; he even saw familiar faces from the *Daily Planet* there.

If he just supported Bruce over there now, the peach-blossom news of the world's richest man and a Metropolis reporter would spread all over the world tomorrow, and the current Bruce obviously couldn't afford a sky-high hush money fee.

Seeing Clark in a dilemma, Harley snapped her fingers and said: "If you're willing to lend me Krypto to play with for a few days, I'll lead them away. How about it?"

"Forget it." Clark said, "You'd definitely feed him junk food, and he can't get any fatter."

"Then what are you going to..." Harley said while looking up, watching Clark grab Bruce and ascend like a rocket, slowly disappearing into the night of Cat Getan.

"What did I tell you, the Superman and Batman in our universe are both abnormal." Pamela shrugged and said.
