Chapter 3551: Edge of Tomorrow (8)
The car drove to Schiller's own house. As soon as he arrived, Martian Manhunter J'onn J'onzz arrived. Before he could ask, Schiller transmitted all the information in his brain.
"Damn it!" J'onn cursed, "This group of damn bastards, they really dare to do this?!"
"I should have thought of it earlier," Schiller said, "Trouble you to live here for a while, protect Barry's family well. I still have some other things to do." 【3551-4
"Don't worry, leave it to me." J'onn nodded and said, "If there are others who need protection, you can send them all over; I guarantee they will be fine."
"That would be perfect." Shiler also nodded and said.
He had gotten blood on himself while killing earlier. Shiler went back to wash up, changed into a new set of clothes, and then said to Victor, who was waiting at the door, "We need to go to Wei En Manor."
"They dare to lay a hand on people from Wei En Manor?"
"Why wouldn't they dare? Selina and Aisha look like the easiest targets to bully. Although I think they can solve the trouble themselves, they clearly lack experience in disposing of bodies. We have to go help them."
When the car drove to the gate of Wei En Manor, from a long distance away, Shiler could hear Selina's cursing.
Alfred opened the manor gate and, without asking anything, led them to the back garden. Sure enough, two male corpses were lying on the soil of the back garden.
"Those two sons of bitches, they actually dared to..." Selina had just said this when her keen hearing made her notice Shiler's arrival. She turned around and let out a sigh of relief the moment she saw Shiler.
"You came just in time, Professor. Someone tried to attack us on the way I was taking Aisha home, and I killed them. But I don't know what to do with this stuff—this isn't the East End." Selina looked at the corpses on the ground with some worry.
Shiler walked over, first flipped the two over, checked their teeth and fingers, and then said, "Drug addicts and thugs."
"It should be the people they hired." Victor said.
"Who do you think it is?"
"Isn't it that group from Diamond Street?"
"It could also be Brainiac." Shiler stood up, narrowed his eyes, and said, "He is best at creating a motive for others first, then fishing in troubled waters, taking the opportunity to escalate the situation."
"Let's not talk about this for now." Shiler continued, "Alfred, find two plastic sheets to wrap them up and put them in the trunk of my car. I'll handle it. Where is Aisha?"
"She went upstairs to do her homework. I know what you want to ask; she won't be scared by such a small matter."
Shiler nodded, took the plastic sheet for the rain canopy from Alfred's hand, wrapped the two corpses up, tied them with rope, and put them in the trunk.
After getting in the car, Victor looked at the direction he was driving and said, "Are you going to your original manor?"
"Yes. There might be a lot of things to deal with recently, I need to go back to get a potted plant."
"That will pass by the street where the Allen family lives; it's very likely that the incident has been discovered by now, and the Cat Getan Police Department will definitely set up checkpoints on that street."
"It's not a big problem."
Under the illumination of police car lights, the reflection of the blockade line looked like a bright galaxy. The lights from the front and back of the cars connected into one, and after each car was inspected, it slowly drove past the group of police like a decrepit old man.
When it was the turn of a Bentley, the trunk didn't open immediately. The officer walked over and knocked on the window, and the window rolled down.
The young policeman took a light breath and reached out to touch the holster at his waist. But the old policeman who had gone to check the trunk and had already seen the license plate walked over and pressed his hand down.
"Good evening, Professor Shiler."
"Good evening. Can you let me pass?"
"Of course." The old policeman nodded, lit the guide light in his hand, and waved them through. As the car started moving, he smiled at Shiler and said, "Your glasses are a bit dirty, Professor."
"Understood, thank you."
While driving, Shiler took off his glasses, handed them to Victor in the passenger seat, and said, "Help me wipe them."
Victor took a tissue from the side, and just as he covered the lens, he saw a tiny bit of blood red seeping through from the back of the tissue. He flipped the tissue over and sure enough, saw the bloodstain stuck to the lens.
"No wonder that policeman wanted to draw his gun just now." Victor said while wiping the glasses, "Can't you clean up more carefully?"
"If I didn't leave this trace, who would know I killed someone?"
"Are you thinking Gordon is too idle?"
"On the contrary, he might be very busy next, so I left some clues to tell him it was me, so he doesn't waste his energy on this aspect."
"Why make the scene so bloody?" Victor couldn't help but ask.
"Brainiac won't be afraid, but humans will. Especially those speculators who sit in offices and trade all year round; they haven't seen such a bloody scene. After it's reported by the media, it should be enough to give them some deterrence."
"I'm afraid it won't be that easy to let it go." Victor sighed and said, "Greed makes people crazy. Brainiac has indeed accurately grasped the weaknesses of humans; I'm afraid they are going to lose their footing this time."
"Barry didn't show up, but he didn't go home either. What do you think he went to do?"
Victor frowned slightly. Shiler continued: "Although the Justice League is off duty, it doesn't mean they don't have a backup plan. Brainiac won't succeed."
"I hope so." Victor said, "It's a good thing we don't have any superheroes in our family, otherwise I'd have to clear out the warehouse at home to store those living ice sculptures."
The car stopped in front of the manor. There was no one in the manor at this time; Shiler entered the back garden, picked up the potted plant of the little devil Six-Horn, and put it in the trunk of the car as well.
The two of them returned to Cat Getan University. Shiler found a place in the nearby woods, let Six-Horn have a midnight snack, and then moved him to his office.
After a busy session, Shiler finally managed to sit down and rest for a while. Not even two minutes later, Sivana's call came through.
"A friend asked me to ask you if you know Bruce's whereabouts, after all, you are his doctoral supervisor. Of course, if you don't know, it's fine, I was just asking."
"Tell him to come and ask me in person."
"Better not." Sivana said hurriedly, "The people at the FBI, they are quite short-handed recently, I'm afraid they don't have time to make a trip."
"Then don't let them investigate this matter anymore, otherwise they will be even shorter-handed."
After hanging up the phone, Harley's call came in.
"Recently, people keep asking me where this person went, where that person went, I'm annoyed to death! Is the Justice League really not planning to show up?"
"They probably have some other plans." Shiler didn't hide it from Harley either, he said, "No matter how they treat Brainiac now, it counts as falling into his trap. They won't be so stupid as to jump into it knowing there's a trap ahead."
"They might choose to solve the problem from another level. But I don't know the specifics, and it has nothing to do with us."
"Alright." Harley said, "I'm planning to renovate a mansion on the east bank of the Cat Getan River into our base, when are you coming over to take a look?"
"Tomorrow."
"I knew it." Harley was a bit helpless, but she still hung up the phone.
Shiler sat in front of the computer thinking, but soon opened the computer and started reading emails. After reading a few papers, he felt it was better to think about a plan to deal with Brainiac.
Just as this thought occurred to him, a green icon suddenly popped up at the bottom of the computer screen, as if someone had sent him a message.
But none of the communication software Shiler usually used was green. He thought it was a virus and didn't click it, but the icon enlarged itself. Only then did Shiler see clearly that the circular icon had a green bald head printed on it.
"Hello, Brainiac Intelligent Butler System is dedicated to serving you. Professor, is there anything I can help you with?"
Shiler was speechless looking at the jumping pixel icon on the screen, and then he said: "Even installing software should look a bit more realistic. How do you know I'm a professor?"
"This is not difficult for a super artificial intelligence, Professor. Your information is public on the internet, anyone can look it up, this doesn't count as an invasion of privacy."
Shiler originally wanted to pull the power plug directly, but he glanced to the side and happened to see the 2000+ unread emails in his mailbox, and a flash of inspiration suddenly struck him.
"Alright, my computer butler, I need you to do me a favor now." Shiler said.
"Please speak, Professor. Very happy to serve you."
"Help me process the emails in my mailbox. For greetings, just reply with a casual greeting; for the papers sent, annotate the entire text after reading; find errors in the papers, and for each error, reply with no less than 150 words of revision suggestions; compare the repetition rate across the entire network, and for paragraphs with too high a repetition rate, provide separate revision suggestions, then give follow-up writing ideas and overall revision suggestions."
"Okay, Professor. Should I process them now?"
"Hmm, you go ahead and process them, I'm going to sleep."
Shiler wasn't joking; he really went to sleep. Because he hadn't slept much the night before, he urgently needed to catch up on sleep.
Waking up, it was already 6 AM. Just as he got out of bed, he heard his computer shouting in the office:
"All emails have been processed, Professor. Would you like to come and take a look?"
Shiler washed up simply and walked out to sit in front of the computer. Just at this moment, his phone screen lit up; Victor had sent him a message.
It was a website link. Shiler clicked in and found it was a software review interface, and the software happened to be the green bald head he had just seen.
"It's simply amazing! This is the best office software I've ever used, it helped me finish all my work! I finally have a complete weekend to relax!"
"The shopping suggestions it gave perfectly solved my problem, the diaper size was chosen just right, the material is also very good, and there's a courier delivering to the door, I heard the courier also used this software's navigation..."
"I really don't know how to describe it, it helped me finish two weeks of art homework, and it was drawn quite well, my art teacher gave a very high evaluation. I thought artificial intelligence wasn't that good at art..."
"It helped me adjust the panel settings that I couldn't adjust for a long time, it's simply great!"
Shiler looked at the comments carefully and found that these weren't paid reviews, but real comments from many people who had used the software, with a positive rating as high as 99%, and the remaining 1% was due to hardware incompatibility.
Soon, Victor sent him another message:
"I swear, I didn't agree to let it help me debug the cryo-chamber data, but I woke up and it was all done. Now Nora and I can finally take Billy hiking."
Shiler looked up at the computer, and the green bald head showed an eight-toothed smile and gave him a thumbs up.
Very well, this guy discovered that force wouldn't work and is preparing to use soft tactics.
