Chapter 4601
The reason Wei En recognized this wine glass was not merely because of the pattern Kang Sitanding had drawn, but because of the glass's shape and the height Kang Sitanding had just gestured with his hand.
Generally speaking, even a short-stemmed goblet should be about as tall as an adult's hand; only the stem would be shorter, while the bowl itself would remain the same size to hold the same amount of wine.
However, the Soviet Union had a very specific type of goblet, rumored to have been invented by Stalin, designed as a "civilized glass" to control alcohol intake. These glasses reduced the height of the bowl by about half, making the upper portion look more like a bowl, so that even when filled to the brim, it could hold less than two hundred milliliters of liquid.
Two hundred milliliters sounds like a decent amount, but one must remember that when Slavs go on a drinking binge, they usually drink vodka straight from the bottle. One could hardly expect them to gather in a pantry for a proper Darjeeling tea break like the British lords in Buckingham Palace. In certain places, the Kremlin's "tea pantry" was more accurately a "liquor pantry." "I'm going to the restroom" sometimes actually meant "I need to sneak off for a drink."
Clearly, the leaders of the Politburo understood that blocking was less effective than diverting. If they didn't let them drink, they would just hide vodka in their briefcases and drink to their hearts' content in their offices. It was better to produce a batch of special glasses—one glass at a time, just enough to avoid getting drunk, which could minimize the risk of mistakes caused by intoxication.
The glass shape Kang Sitanding drew and the height he gestured clearly indicated this type of glass. That was why Wei En was certain the glass must have been swiped from the Kremlin's pantry.
As for why A Na Tuo Li would swipe such a thing, there was no way to verify it now. Perhaps it was to express his dissatisfaction with its capacity, or perhaps he didn't visit the Kremlin often and felt he had to take a souvenir since he was already there. Regardless, he had given this item to Luxi Fa, and Luxi Fa had smashed it.
Furthermore, after smashing it, he hadn't picked up all the shards, leaving one small piece behind which Kang Sitanding had found. This meant he couldn't fix it even if he wanted to.
Perhaps God had made Luxi Fa Chen Xing too perfect, leaving his subsequent life filled with moments that could never be made whole again—like feathers that could never be reattached, or a smashed wine glass with missing shards.
Wei En began to believe more and more that A Na Tuo Li would not have chosen to hide his return merely to manufacture another tragedy in Luxi Fa's life. He must have had some other purpose.
A pendant could usually repel low-level angels because they feared Satan's wrath. But if a High Angel arrived in person, the pendant would likely be ineffective and might even pique their interest. Kang Sitanding shook his head and said, "If he sends subordinates, like half-angels or low-level angels, the pendant is more than enough. But I'm afraid if he comes himself..."
"Do you have any other methods?" Wei En asked.
"I usually don't deal with angels and demons in person," Kang Sitanding said. "I find ways to make them fight each other. If we are dealing with a High Angel, the best way is to borrow Satan's power."
"Can you contact him?"
Kang Sitanding shook his head. "Contacting him directly like this isn't a good idea. Because things that interest a High Angel will surely interest Satan as well. Even if they might fight each other because of it, if the angels retreat and Satan stays behind, that obviously won't lead to a good outcome."
Wei En nodded. Even though Kang Sitanding didn't seem to know that Luxi Fa had already returned to Heaven, his reasoning was sound. Even if Luxi Fa had returned and become the true Archangel, he was still the cynical Luxi Fa Chen Xing at his core. Expecting him to follow the rules like the other Archangels was wishful thinking. If Mi Jia Le wanted to do something, Luxi Fa would not be Luxi Fa if he didn't try his best to sabotage it.
Essentially, he was in opposition to all the Archangels. He had old grudges with Mi Jia Le, looked down on the petty Jia Bai Lie, disliked the overly serious Wu Lie Er, and even felt that the well-liked La Fei Er was hypocritical. If he could have gotten along with any of them, he wouldn't have fallen from Heaven in the first place. But Luxi Fa's concept of time was different from a mortal's. Bu Lu Si had been hanging on the wall for a hundred years, and Luxi Fa probably just thought he had gone on a two-week vacation; he wouldn't even think of looking for him.
And for Wei En, his goal was to goad A Na Tuo Li into finding Luxi Fa, rather than having Luxi Fa find A Na Tuo Li. There was a fundamental difference between the two.
Trying to cause trouble for A Na Tuo Li to force him to find Luxi Fa would reveal how reluctant he was, and might even clarify why he wouldn't seek Luxi Fa out.
But if Luxi Fa discovered A Na Tuo Li had returned, he would kill his way there immediately. At that point, no matter what plans A Na Tuo Li had, he would never expose them again.
Wei En knew very well that every one of A Na Tuo Li's plans was loud and boisterous, making him look like a brute, but in reality, he was more shrewd and patient than anyone. Once the timing was missed, he would rather pause everything and wait silently than risk acting at an inappropriate time.
That was not what Wei En wanted to see.
Therefore, although making a phone call to Luxi Fa now to tell him about A Na Tuo Li and asking him to help solve the "skewer" of people on the Origin Wall would be the fastest solution, Wei En could not do that.
In fact, compared to that skewer of people, A Na Tuo Li's abnormality was far more important. After all, hanging on the Origin Wall, while immobile, wasn't exactly dangerous. If anything, releasing Bu Lu Si would be more dangerous for the multiverse.
Wei En expressed his agreement with Kang Sitanding: one shouldn't invite a tiger in just to drive away a wolf, especially when one had no gun in hand. "I don't know much about this. If we don't contact him directly, is there any other way to borrow his power?"
"There are actually many ways. Satan isn't exactly a careless person, but he has been active in the human world for many years. Many of the items he has left behind are very powerful; for instance, the pendant made from the shards of Satan's wine glass can repel lower-level angels. Certain items have a deep connection to Satan, and he might sense the situation here through them. The High Angels might choose to give up to avoid being caught by him."
From Kang Sitanding's perspective, this was indeed a good method; and from Wei En's perspective, it was also good. Because clearly, more of Luxi Fa's items could reveal more of his past with A Na Tuo Li. A Na Tuo Li was obviously not indifferent to this, and perhaps, this would shake him.
"How should we find them?" Wei En asked. "Do you have any leads?"
"We need to find the universe Satan visits most often," Kang Sitanding suggested.
"Unfortunately, the universe he visits most often is currently hanging on the wall, and none of us can get in," Wei En negated that possibility.
"I mean, the universe we can enter that he visits most often," Kang Sitanding explained.
"That would be this universe," Wei En said. He could be absolutely certain that, aside from the universe of Ao Man, Luxi Fa definitely visited the main universe most often. Not to mention that the main universe was the most important, Luxi Fa had roles here, appearing in the Kang Sitanding series and the Dark Justice League series.
Of course, there was also the TV universe where Luxi Fa was the protagonist. But the problem was, that universe hadn't registered in the Battleworld, and they couldn't find it now. Finding it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack; it was better to look in the main universe directly.
"Alright, then we need to take the next step," Kang Sitanding said. "Tracking Satan's footsteps isn't that simple. We need to investigate his identity in the human world first."
"He might have a bar," Wei En said, though he wasn't very certain. Even though Luxi Fa loved opening bars everywhere, whether he had opened one in the main universe, and where it was, no one knew.
Wait, that wasn't entirely true. Wei En said, "We have to find this universe's Kang Sitanding."
Kang Sitanding nodded. "That's what I was thinking too. He might even have some of Satan's things in his possession—certainly not obtained through any normal channels, but they might be useful."
Wei En called the main universe's Wonder Woman, but she didn't answer. The Justice League was probably busy looking for Bu Lu Si; it wouldn't be long before they gathered near the Origin Wall.
"Robin," Wei En said. "Before this universe's Kang Sitanding caused a huge disaster, Bu Lu Si wouldn't have let him go. The Robins might know where Bu Lu Si put him."
Speaking of which, Wei En felt a headache coming on. If he remembered correctly, before coming here, Aquaman had said there was some friction between the Robins. Great, this world was just a long-running soap opera, one episode after another, never ending.
"How is your relationship with your family?" Wei En looked at Kang Sitanding.
Kang Sitanding's hand holding the cigarette paused slightly. He frowned slightly, seemingly offended. Wei En continued, "Robins aren't always sons, but they are definitely brothers and sisters. If you grew up in a big family, perhaps you'd have more experience with this."
"Clearly, I'm not." Kang Sitanding said. "But I won't get involved in their family conflicts just to get a lead. That has nothing to do with me."
"If we don't get them to calm down, I'm afraid they won't tell us anything."
"There are many ways to get people to calm down," Kang Sitanding said. "If you don't want to, then I will. After all, exorcists work for money, charging by the job; I'm not in the habit of wasting time."
"It seems your exorcism experiences are quite spectacular." Wei En looked at Kang Sitanding and picked up his case, adding, "Demons are the least important part, right?"
Kang Sitanding smiled at him. Even his smile carried a trace of melancholic coldness. He was indeed different from almost all other Kang Sitandings, the whole person like a forgotten Gothic cathedral, with towering domes, flickering candlelight, and absurd death aesthetics flowing through his veins.
Constantine smiled at him. Even the smile carried a trace of melancholy cold color. He is indeed different from almost all Constantines, the whole person is like a forgotten Gothic cathedral, with towering domes, flickering candlelight, and absurd death aesthetics flowing in his blood.
