Chapter 2612: Arresting Wen Simao

~7 min read 1,333 words

Located at the foot of Wuling Mountain in Miyun New City, Beijing, about 132 kilometers from Beijing. Because this is a mountainous area, adjacent to the Forest Park and reservoir, the temperature is several degrees lower than in the city. Therefore, it can be described as uniquely endowed by nature, with a pleasant geographical environment and fresh air, making it a summer resort.

And located at the foot of Wuling Mountain, by the side of the Yaoqiaoyu Reservoir, surrounded by green mountains, lush and green, with towering pines and cypresses standing among them, evergreen throughout the four seasons. At this time, it was early autumn, and the maple trees all over the mountains had quietly been dyed with a blush. The charm of autumn was beginning to show, like poetry and painting, beautiful and breathtaking.

Especially last night, the temperature dropped, and the entire Wuling Mountain was submerged in heavy fog. When the first ray of morning sun shone on the earth, everything was looming in the vast white fog, like a fairyland.

At this time, two people walked out of the mountain villa, holding fishing gear and small stools in their hands. The two chatted and laughed as they came to the lakeside, then chose a spot and sat down.

Just as they were chatting and fishing, a Buick business car stopped at the gate of the mountain villa, and five people got out of the car. One of the middle-aged men saw someone fishing not far away and said with a smile.

"There's actually someone fishing; I'll go over and take a look. You guys go handle the check-in procedures."

A young man teased: "Old Wang, no matter where you go, you can't move your feet when you see someone fishing. We've been colleagues for so many years, and I've never eaten a fish you caught."

Old Wang snorted: "The fish I catch, only my wife is qualified to eat. If you want to eat, go to the market and buy some."

"Old Wang, stop bragging. I don't know you, but I know you, right?" Another middle-

Old Wang glared, then swung his arm and turned to leave: "You're just spreading rumors. I can't be bothered to argue with people like you who don't understand."

The other four burst into laughter and stepped through the door.

Old Wang walked with his hands behind his back and a measured gait until he reached the two anglers: "Gentlemen, are they biting this early in the morning?"

The two anglers turned around, and when they saw Old Wang, they immediately smiled. One of them said: "Wen Simao is in room 4019, but Hong Jinyan is there too."

"Hong Jinyan is there too?" Old Wang frowned: "If we arrest Wen Simao in front of Hong Jinyan, I'm afraid we'll face significant resistance. Plus, if word gets out, the pressure on the station chief will be immense."

The other angler said: "Every morning at seven, Hong Jinyan leaves the room on time to have breakfast at the restaurant. She leaves at seven-thirty, while Wen Simao sleeps until noon before getting up."

Upon hearing this, Old Wang's furrowed brow relaxed: "You two keep fishing here; I'm going to discuss how to make the arrest with them."

Meanwhile, inside room 4019, Wen Simao was drenched in sweat, lying on the bed panting: "Your husband has been back for three days. You come to keep me company every night; aren't you afraid he'll get angry?"

Hong Jinyan rolled over and sat up, propped the pillow against her lower back, leaned against the headboard, and lit a cigarette. She then sneered: "A loser. Everything he has now, I gave him. I'm even supporting his mother, his father, and his sister's whole family. Does he have the guts to get angry with me?"

"I just love how bossy you are." Wen Simao tilted his head and kissed Hong Jinyan on the face: "Find a chance to go to your place, right in your bed—that would definitely be exciting."

Hong Jinyan grinned widely, leaned over onto Wen Simao's chest, and said: "Alright, he's on duty tomorrow night. I'll come pick you up."

Wen Simao nodded vigorously in excitement: "Yes, yes, yes, I'm really looking forward to it."

"Alright, I have to go." Hong Jinyan got out of bed to get dressed: "For this period, I have to keep an eye on things at the factory. I can't let any problems arise that Zhou Andong could grab onto and use as an excuse to make trouble."

"Go on then!" Wen Simao yawned and stubbed out his half-smoked cigarette in the ashtray: "I'm going to sleep a little longer."

"Sleep if you want!" Hong Jinyan finished dressing, washed up in the bathroom, grabbed her small bag, and left the room. She walked to the elevator and pressed the button; she was going to the second-floor restaurant to eat.

"Ding!"

The elevator doors opened, and five men stepped out. The two parties brushed past each other. After the elevator doors slowly closed, the five men all turned to look at the elevator, then exchanged glances.

A young man said: "Old Wang, Hong Jinyan has left. When are we going to launch the arrest?"

Old Wang waved a hand: "Hong Jinyan went to the restaurant to eat; she won't leave until seven-thirty. The commotion of arresting Wen Simao won't be small, so we'll wait until she leaves before we move."

As he spoke, Old Wang looked at the young man: "To prevent Wen Simao from having any accomplices, Zhang Hao, you and Xiao Liu go to the rest area over there. If anything unexpected happens, provide support immediately. We're heading to the room; we act at eight."

"Understood!" Zhang Hao and Xiao Liu replied in hushed tones and turned toward the nearby rest area, which had a clear view of the elevator and stairwell.

Old Wang led his men to 4018, right across from Wen Simao's room. They didn't close the door, pulled out a deck of cards, and started playing on the bed. The person sitting at the foot of the bed would glance at 4019 across the hall from time to time.

At seven-thirty, Hong Jinyan's car drove out of the villa gate right on schedule. No one noticed that a window on the third floor was open, and a man in his forties was standing in front of it. He stared fixedly at Hong Jinyan's car, his eyes filled with humiliation and rage.

Not until Hong Jinyan's car disappeared from sight did the man look away, but his tightly clenched fists and teeth grinding together proved that the resentment in his heart had not diminished; instead, it had grown even more intense.

At eight o'clock, Old Wang nodded at the young man sitting at the foot of the bed: "Go to the front desk and call a staff member."

"Got it!" The young man stood up and left.

Old Wang and the other two checked their pistols; Wen Simao definitely had a gun on him, so they had to be careful.

The young man arrived at the front desk, flashed his ID, and said: "I'm a police officer on duty. I need your cooperation."

The staff member hurriedly said: "Comrade, whatever you need, just tell me."

"Open room 4019 for me." The young man whispered: "Keep it confidential."

The staff member was shocked; she knew exactly who was staying in 4019.

The young man's gaze sharpened, and his voice deepened: "Is there a problem?"

"No... no problem!" The staff member nodded hurriedly, found the spare key for room 4019, and followed the young man into the elevator, her heart pounding rapidly the entire time.

When she saw three more men standing at the door of 4019, each holding a gun, her rapidly beating heart seemed to stop for a moment, and her eyes were filled with panic. After all, Wen Simao was the one staying in that room, and she was truly terrified.
