Chapter 104: Goodbye, Ke Lai En

~10 min read 1,803 words

"Mr. Huang, can this Messenger now cooperate with me to complete the item retrieval ritual?"

Leike Dun lifted the Messenger book in his hand, which looked as if forged from gold, and simultaneously tucked the divine blood of the Eternal Blazing Sun into his bosom.

"Yes, it's a bit foolish, but education, education can still be used."

Mr. Huang nodded, his tone full of disdain for the Messenger.

Leike Dun fell silent for a moment, wanting to say: Mr. Huang, you weren't like this before; you used to be very friendly toward the book.

The thought flashed briefly in his mind, but Leike Dun dared not let it take shape in his heart.

"Mr. Huang, can you shatter a Sequence Seven attribute and then have it gradually aggregate into three new attributes?"

Thinking of his small animal cultivation plan, Leike Dun asked again.

Mr. Huang gave Leike Dun a strange look:

"Why would you have such an idea? Even if an extraordinary attribute is shattered, it won't gradually aggregate."

"Uh," Leike Dun hesitated, then described the Unlit Cross ability once.

"This belongs to the Unlit's purification ability; I can indeed do it."

Mr. Huang gave a slight nod but did not give a direct agreement. Leike Dun waited quietly for the conditions Mr. Huang would propose.

"How is your mission progressing?"

Mr. Huang offered no conditions, merely asked about the mission's progress.

Leike Dun was stunned for a moment, wanting to say that lately he had either been taking exams or preparing for them, and in his spare time he caused trouble at sea, fought, and vented his anger on the not-innocent pirates.

"The Primal Moon and the Rose School have a certain connection, but it's most likely because the Rose School possesses a Sequence One Beautiful God attribute."

"The Primal Moon itself has nothing to do with the Bound God or the Desire Mother Tree worshiped by the Rose School; it should be another evil god. Their relationship is complex, possibly both antagonistic and cooperative."

Leike Dun finally selected a portion of the information he knew and spoke it out.

"Not bad, fairly acceptable."

Mr. Huang nodded, then added:

"In a couple of days, use the ritual again to obtain the attributes. Gradually extracting extraordinary attributes takes a considerable amount of time, and the item you threw in that contains the Harvest Priest attribute is the same."

"Alright."

Although he didn't understand the significance of Mr. Huang's question—being an angel under the True God's throne, he couldn't possibly be unaware of this information—Leike Dun quickly nodded in response.

After staying in the library for a while, browsing the supplemental books, his own spirituality began to waver; only then did Leike Dun set the books aside and let his spirit body return to his physical body.

Leike Dun reached into his bosom, pulled out a dark glass bottle containing a single drop of divine blood that shone like a miniature sun.

"I don't know how Mr. Huang did it. Clearly, only my spirit body went to the library, yet this bottle of divine blood came back with me."

Leike Dun pondered for a while, roughly guessing the principle, but couldn't figure out exactly how it was done.

Sunlight through the curtains had dimmed, and Tu Ba Ge, lying on the desk, was still asleep. Leike Dun also swayed his body, lay back on the bed, and began meditating to replenish his spent spirituality.

When his spirituality recovered, the sky outside had become completely dark.

Leike Dun ignored the rabbit still sleeping on the desk, left the room, and ordered the inn's waiter to bring a dinner and drinks, specifically asking for some fruit to be prepared for him.

After finishing the dinner the waiter brought, he left some fruit for Tu Ba Ge beside him, and Leike Dun lay on the bed and fell into a deep sleep.

In his dream, Leike Dun saw a room filled with blood‑colored, viscous, hairy liquid, with a graying human head suspended in mid‑air.

From the forehead and cheek of the skull sprouted a pair of eyes—cold, without eyelashes.

A piano nearby played by itself.

Three indistinct figures stared at the suspended graying head.

Leike Dun jolted upright, breathing rapidly.

"Damn! Is the Hidden Sage bored lately? Even a nap gives me a prophecy, and such a terrifying scene." Leike Dun muttered discontentedly.

Relying on his own premonition, Leike Dun understood the meaning of the scene: Old Neil of the Night Watch Squad in Tinggen City had lost control and collapsed after drawing unbearable knowledge from the Hidden Sage.

"Why tell me this? He's already out of control!"

Leike Dun couldn't quite grasp the Hidden Sage's purpose.

Though helpless, Leike Dun got up from the bed; sunlight streamed through the curtains, bathing the room, and it was now a bright morning.

"Boss!"

Tu Ba Ge sat on the desk beside him, gnawing on the fruit the waiter had delivered last night.

"Alright, let's go out for breakfast, then follow me somewhere."

Leike Dun put on the coat from the coat rack while saying.

"Going out! I won't, I don't want spiritual realm traversal!"

Tu Ba Ge reflexively shook his head at the word 'going out.'

"Don't worry, we won't do spiritual realm traversal; this place isn't large, we can just walk over." Leike Dun reassured the rabbit, who had a psychological aversion to the traversal.

Hearing Leike Dun's explanation, Tu Ba Ge finally relaxed and continued bobbing his head while gnawing the fruit.

After washing up in the bathroom, Leike Dun took the still‑gnawing Tu Ba Ge outside.

Tossing Tu Ba Ge's toy staff in his hand, Leike Dun navigated between crowds and carriages, guided by his spirituality.

Just before reaching the destination, he ate breakfast on the way.

When they arrived near Old Neil's house with Tu Ba Ge, Leike Dun stopped; though still some distance away, he could already sense the uncontrolled, bloody aura emanating from the house ahead.

Still hesitating how to handle the matter, Leike Dun felt someone approaching. He slipped into a nearby shadow, gestured in the air a symbol of decay, then pulled, and the surrounding shadows solidified, covering both him and Tu Ba Ge.

Leike Dun saw a middle‑aged man wearing black gloves, a staff in one hand, and a simple ornament in the other made of many intertwined deep‑black long hairs, dressed in a black trench coat, his hairline slightly high.

Behind him were a young man and woman; Leike Dun easily recognized the man wearing a half‑high silk hat, a white shirt, black vest, and dark trousers.

"First time—no, second time meeting, good morning! Mr. Fool," Leike Dun murmured softly.

The spirit sense of Ke Lai En, who followed Captain Deng En, was triggered again; he turned his head toward Leike Dun's direction, but saw nothing.

"What's the matter?" Deng En said without turning, his voice steady.

"Ah, it's nothing, just feels like someone muttered a line at me."

Ke Lai En didn't take it to heart, just thought it was a hallucination caused by his own nervousness.

"Your spiritual intuition is a bit high! Is this the bonus from Gray Mist? It does feel indeed more advanced than the Knowledge Wilderness," Lei Ke Dun muttered to himself.

Because Ke Lai En's spiritual intuition was so high, Lei Ke Dun didn't pay attention to what was happening inside the house, only sensed the two gunshots that rang inside and the fluctuations of spirit.

Lei Ke Dun no longer followed the subsequent developments; he could know what would happen without watching. Silently he stepped out of the shadows and left.

If it had been one or two months earlier, there might have been a way to resolve Lao Ni Er's loss of control, but now it's too late.

Lei Ke Dun still hadn't figured out the purpose of the prophecy the Hidden Sage showed him; it couldn't be to have him boost the favor that had already dropped into the negatives!

"Boss, what are we supposed to do?"

Tu Ba Ge, perched on his shoulder, asked curiously.

"We're not doing anything, and we don't know what to do, so for now just be a spectator," Lei Ke Dun replied.

In this city there's a high chance that A Meng and the goddess are watching, making it unsuitable for us to do anything; even contact with Ke Lai En must be avoided as much as possible. Being spotted by the goddess isn't a big deal, but being noticed by A Meng would be trouble.

"The title 'Keeper of Knowledge' is a bit dazzling, but I can't let it go."

In response, Lei Ke Dun could only temporarily lower his presence.

"In the next two days, get your condition right; once you obtain the trait, you can ascend to a Sequence‑Seven Harvest Priest," Lei Ke Dun said, bringing Tu Ba Ge back to the inn.

In the following days, Lei Ke Dun rarely left the house unless necessary; he didn't want to be too active in this city, as more movement increased the chance of being inadvertently seen by A Meng.

Each day Lei Ke Dun used the Divine Blood of Eternal Blazing Sun to craft a talisman, then went to the deep library of the Spirit Realm to read, preparing to develop his own secret technique for processing demon pills.

Until the third day, Mr. Huang told Lei Ke Dun that the two extraordinary traits of Sequence Seven had been progressively extracted and divided into traits of different sequences.

Lei Ke Dun immediately performed the ritual to retrieve the separated traits from the library.

Lei Ke Dun looked at the six light clusters of varying sizes on the table, somewhat surprised.

"Mr. Huang also extracted the Harvest Priest's trait for me! I don't need it, but I can sell it for some cash; the materials for making scrolls have cost me too much money before."

Lei Ke Dun took out the five iron cigarette cases he had asked the waiter for, and neatly stored all the traits except the Harvest Priest's.

"I'll supervise from the side; you try mixing the demon pills yourself."

Lei Ke Dun said to the chubby rabbit salivating beside him as it watched the traits.

"Me myself!"

Tu Ba Ge looked at the boss in disbelief, then glanced down at his own paws.

"Give it a try; you can hold a staff with your paws, wear a hat, so mixing demon pills should be possible too," Lei Ke Dun said.

In the end, Tu Ba Ge, persuaded by Lei Ke Dun, attempted to concoct his own demon pills.

Lei Ke Dun watched as it carefully handled the ingredients, repeatedly double‑checking the amounts with itself, then finally placed the materials into a glass bottle.
