Chapter 105: Lun Na De's Hush Money (Please Vote for Monthly Ticket!!!)

~9 min read 1,779 words

Under Tu Ba Ge's careful handling, a bottle of green, oily magical elixir with dense bubbles constantly rising and falling was concocted.

"Boss! Did it succeed?"

Tu Ba Ge asked cautiously. It thought this bottle, which looked a bit like poison, the magical elixir, must have failed.

Lei Kedun slightly furrowed his brows, pulled a gold coin from his pocket, flicked it into the air, and caught it with his hand.

"Success!"

After finishing the divination, Lei Kedun nodded.

"Really?"

Tu Ba Ge still couldn't fully believe it; the green, oily elixir looked even more like poison.

"Yes, really—drink it quickly!"

Lei Kedun urged him.

Tu Ba Ge stared at the green, oily elixir in his hand, hesitated repeatedly, but trusted the boss's words and drank it.

As the elixir entered his mouth, Tu Ba Ge felt his whole rabbit body swell.

In Lei Kedun's eyes, Tu Ba Ge's fur seemed to come alive, curling and fluttering abnormally in the air. The entire rabbit instantly turned into a massive ball of hair.

The process didn't last long—after a minute or two, the gray fur contracted, revealing Tu Ba Ge's original form. However, his little jacket was torn by the fur, and the bow tie on his neck fell to the ground.

"How is it?" Lei Kedun asked aloud.

Tu Ba Ge looked down at his hands and found he could move each finger flexibly, and his hind legs had become a bit sturdier. The difference from ordinary rabbits grew larger.

"Boss, I can move my fingers flexibly now!"

Tu Ba Ge stretched out his two paws excitedly.

Lei Kedun slightly furrowed his brows; ordinary animals shouldn't undergo such changes after taking the elixir.

Feeling uneasy, Lei Kedun flicked out a gold coin, performed a simple divination, confirmed that Tu Ba Ge had no issues, and then relaxed.

"It seems the prior mutation made him differ from ordinary rabbits; as he consumes more elixir, the differences become increasingly evident," Lei Kedun speculated internally.

"Boss? What's wrong?"

Seeing Lei Kedun flick the coin, Tu Ba Ge asked anxiously.

"Nothing, I did a small divination—what ability did the seventh-sequence elixir grant you?" Lei Kedun asked curiously.

Talking about the extraordinary ability made Tu Ba Ge excited again; he stood on the table, waving his two paws and said:

"I have a savage growth ability that can catalyze the growth and reproduction of living things, can be used in combat, and also lets me discern different plants and their effects. There's also a blessing called 'Abundance' that can bring a bountiful harvest!"

"Abundance? Perhaps that's the key to your role."

Lei Kedun said thoughtfully.

"Your jacket needs a tailor to mend; for now, wear that hooded cloak, and also calm the restless spirit within you. I'll go make a talisman."

Saying that, Lei Kedun sent Tu Ba Ge off to the side.

He then took from a metal box a glass bottle containing Eternal Blazing Sun Divine Blood and the corresponding ritual materials, lit a candle, drew occult symbols representing the Sun and the Hidden Sage on the ground with a silver ritual pen, and placed a small piece of gold and some extraordinary materials on them.

Lei Kedun performed a ritual pointing to the Hidden Sage to seek a response for making the talisman.

Wanting to try different talismans, Lei Kedun swapped some of the materials and prayed to the Hidden Sage in advance, giving explanations, hoping to receive its aid.

In fact, praying to the God of Knowledge is also possible, but Lei Kedun personally feels the Hidden Sage, who helps him cheat, is more intimate than the Knowledge God who tests him.

After the ritual was ready, Lei Kedun dropped a drop of "Sun" essential oil onto the lit candle and ignited powder of kumquat and rosemary.

Then, in Draconic, he recited the incantation:

"Eternal Blazing Sun's Blood"

"You are the undying light, embodiment of order, god of contracts, guardian of commerce."

"I pray to you, beseeching you to grant me the power of the Sun!"

As the chant finished, the Eternal Blazing Sun Divine Blood in the dark glass bottle emitted a dazzling light, illuminating the inn's room as if bathed in noon sunlight.

The symbol Lei Kedun drew for the Hidden Sage began to gather the sunlight; the small gold piece and ritual materials placed on it melted, and finally the eerie light fused with them, forming a golden talisman with intricate patterns on both sides.

Lei Kedun bent down, took the talisman into his hand, closed his eyes, and carefully sensed its power.

The "Purification" talisman deals massive damage to evil spirits and vengeful souls, and can also be affixed to weapons.

"It's somewhat like the Sun Priest's Purification Slash; the strength should be comparable."

Lei Kedun whispered a word, placed the talisman into his clothing pocket, then began tidying up the ritual items on the floor, restoring the room.

"Since I'm idle anyway, I might as well go give Lun Na De a hush payment, and also chat with the old man, building a relationship in advance; I may need his help later."

Lei Kedun thought for a moment and quickly made a decision.

Tu Ba Ge had already swapped into a hooded small cloak, paired with a tall top hat and a red wooden melodica in his hand, giving him more of a magician's aura than the little vest.

Watching this rabbit striking poses in front of the mirror, Lei Kedun inexplicably felt that the apprentice or diviner path suited him best.

"Come on, let's step out."

Lei Kedun called out to the Tu Ba Ge still in front of the mirror.

Tu Ba Ge, hearing the call, took off his top hat, gave a proper bow to the mirror, then leapt swiftly onto Lei Kedun's shoulder.

Lei Kedun felt his shoulder dip, his body tilting backward uncontrollably. He hurriedly grabbed the windowsill, preventing Tu Ba Ge from toppling him.

"Why did you become heavier after drinking the elixir? You can't perch on my shoulder anymore; I can't bear the weight."

Lei Kedun grinned, showing his teeth, and said.

"Ah!"

Tu Ba Ge fell off the shoulder, looking dejected.

Lei Kedun straightened up, reached to rub his slightly sore shoulder, feeling helpless.

Whether reader or seeker, neither path relies on physical prowess; this rabbit now exceeds the weight his small body can bear.

"Hold onto my pant leg."

Lei Kedun reminded Tu Ba Ge.

While Tu Ba Ge hadn't reacted yet, Lei Kedun directly used Spirit Realm traversal to leave the inn's room.

While traversing the Spirit Realm and divining Lun Na De's location, Lei Kedun arrived at an asylum.

Just after exiting the Spirit Realm, Tu Ba Ge released his grip on Lei Kedun's trouser leg and collapsed clumsily onto the ground.

Lun Na De, who was monitoring the asylum, saw two silhouettes—one large, one small—suddenly appear before him and instinctively stepped back and drew his gun.

"Tsk! That was a quick reaction!" Lei Kedun said, teasing the other.

After seeing the person clearly, Lun Na De's expression grew even sicker:

"Can't you use the front entrance? Always appearing and disappearing so suddenly—are you playing a ghost?"

"I'm not some exotic path, I don't need to play that role."

Lei Kedun replied. Without waiting for Lun Na De's reaction, he pulled two talismans from his clothing pocket and tossed them to the other:

"Here's your hush money: one purification talisman, one sun talisman."

Fumbling, he set his gun down and took the talismans Lei Kedun had thrown. Curious, Lun Na De examined them for a moment and found the material resembled gold, etched with similar yet distinct mysterious symbols.

"What are they for? And since they look so alike, how am I supposed to tell them apart?"

Lun Na De said in a tone that wasn't very friendly.

"Roughly equivalent to a Sequence Seven-level power talisman; its activation chant is 'Sun'. Just speak the language that can lever natural forces. For specifics and how to distinguish them, ask your old grandpa."

Lei Kedun didn't go into too much detail.

Hearing the other mention the old grandpa inside his body, Lun Na De's complexion darkened further.

"After I helped you steal a drop of divine blood last time, he fell back into slumber."

Lun Na De hesitated briefly but still relayed the news that Pa Lie Si had fallen asleep again.

Lei Kedun stared at Lun Na De for a while, puzzled—just stealing a drop of divine blood, does it really consume that much?

But aside from Lun Na De's increasingly sullen face, he saw nothing else.

"Alright, the one on the left is a purification talisman; it can unleash a single strike against evil spirits and resentful souls, or be affixed to a weapon. The one on the right is a sun talisman; within a twenty‑meter radius it effectively boosts allies' courage and purifies the aberrant forces in their bodies. You can keep them in separate pockets for easy identification."

Lei Kedun still gave a detailed explanation of the two talismans' functions.

"Why do the names and effects sound exactly opposite?"

Lun Na De asked, his face full of doubt.

"I named them arbitrarily; if you don't like it, you can call them the opposite—doesn't matter."

Lei Kedun shrugged and said it didn't matter.

Pa Lie Si's old grandpa fell into slumber, so Lei Kedun's plan to chat with the grandpa and build rapport was forced to cancel, leaving him with nothing to do for now.

"Do you know any good food nearby? Or perhaps your local specialties would do."

Lei Kedun felt that after going out with such effort, he couldn't just leave after handing over a talisman.

"I don't know; it's just a small town—what could possibly attract someone like you?"

Lun Na De didn't want to engage with Lei Kedun. But having just received two talismans as hush money, it was hard to refuse.

"Someone like me? Do you know me?"

Lei Kedun wondered whether his sea‑borne wanted list had somehow made its way here.

"I don't know you, but you're clearly not an ordinary Sequence Six-level extraordinary."

Lun Na De recounted some information the old man had told him last time.

"Let me update your outdated info: I'm already at Sequence Five now."

Lei Kedun corrected his statement.

Lun Na De glared at Lei Kedun, feeling the other was here to show off.

The other seemed a year or two younger; Lun Na De suddenly thought he should step up, since Ke Lai En had advanced to Sequence Eight yesterday, and at this rate they'd surpass him.
