Chapter 14: The Chuunibyou Bloodline Girl

~9 min read 1,674 words

Lei Kedun, led by the red‑haired girl, walked to the sink at the stair corner, turned on the faucet and rinsed the flowing nosebleed, and found that the nosebleed had indeed stopped.

"Are you a doctor at this hospital?" Lei asked curiously.

"Do I look like one?" the red‑haired girl said bluntly.

"Anyway, you look even less like a patient." Lei Kedun shrugged.

"I'm certainly not a patient." The red‑haired girl's anger, just calmed, was reignited by Lei Kedun.

Lei Kedun watched the other person, clearly angry yet trying hard to maintain her image, and felt like laughing, but held it back, because he had basically guessed the red‑haired girl's identity.

"Hey! What rude thoughts are you having! Your expression looks perverted, you know!" the girl shouted angrily, the kind of anger that wants to hit someone.

"I really didn't call you 'hey', I was thinking that if I were a provocateur of the Hunter Path, I could quickly digest the demon pill in front of you!" Lei Kedun's face showed a playful smile.

"You! What do you mean? Whether I call you 'hey' or not! What provocateur, but you are indeed good at provoking." The girl looked flustered for a moment, then pretended to be calm and said.

"Is that so? What a pity, the Hunter Path isn't good at defense, otherwise I'd like to choose the Hunter Path." Lei Kedun said with a regretful expression.

"Ha! Cowardly, fear‑of‑death people!" the girl mocked bluntly.

Lei Kedun shrugged indifferently and said, "After all, a competent hunter knows how to draw hatred; if you can't take a beating, how can you survive, right? You, the death‑defying vampire?"

"I'm a bloodline!" the girl's eyes, crimson as blood, stared at Lei Kedun.

"Hmm, you're a bloodline." Lei Kedun quickly nodded in acknowledgment.

The girl then realized she had been set up, "You!" "You set me up! Evil, dirty, despicable human!"

"Hey hey hey! That's over the line, that's clearly wit; you don't need to use so many adjectives at once." Lei Kedun shifted his body slightly and stepped back two steps toward the stairs, somewhat worried that the bloodline girl's psychological tolerance might snap and she would lose control.

"I didn't call you 'hey'!" the bloodline girl said, her anger, previously suppressed, flaring again as she watched him step back two steps.

"Then what's your name?" Lei Kedun asked.

The bloodline girl stared at Lei Kedun for a while, then proudly lifted her chin, hands on hips, and boasted, "Is this the purpose of you despicable human? Hmph! It's not that I can't fulfill your rude request. Listen carefully, I am Yi Li Sha, the caretaker of the Great Ancestor, who will lead the bloodline toward a glorious future as Blood Moon Queen II!"

"Just giving a name, why all the theatrics?" Lei Kedun said, indicating he didn't quite understand the bloodline's chuunibyou.

"Mind your own business! Hey! What are you called?" Yi Li Sha said arrogantly.

"Me? Joshua, Joshua Lai Bo, um… sharing names makes us friends, right? You can't just hit someone because you're angry!" Lei Kedun casually fabricated a name and said.

"I had already suppressed my anger, but after you said that I want to hit you again." Yi Li Sha said viciously.

"It's fine, think whatever you like, I'm magnanimous; just don't lay a hand on me." Lei Kedun said in a nonchalant tone.

Yi Li Sha gave Lei Kedun a huge eye roll with her crimson eyes.

"Are you a member of the Knowledge Church sent to investigate this incident? Has the Knowledge Church run out of people? Sending someone this weak, and you just go back and forth, I haven't even caught that damned thief a single clue, and you are even less capable." Yi Li Sha stared at Lei Kedun for a few careful looks before speaking bluntly.

"Why would you think I'm from the Knowledge Church?" Lei Kedun asked curiously, feeling that he shouldn't have any obvious gestures or traits indicating that.

Yi Li Sha stared at Lei Kedun with a look as if he were a fool and said, "Besides members of your Knowledge Church, who else would wander into a hospital carrying a book on them!"

"A book?" Lei Kedun was stunned for a moment before realizing. He seemed to have lost the book he carried.

"Don't look, you dropped it at the main entrance and never picked it up." Yi Li Sha said.

"I just didn't recall that I was still carrying a book." Lei Kedun frowned, his spiritual intuition hinting that the matter might not be that simple.

"Tch! I thought members of your Knowledge Church loved books so much, yet you didn't even notice the one in your hand had been missing for so long." Yi Li Sha said disdainfully.

"The point is I didn't think about my book at all, nor noticed it; does that seem reasonable to you?" Lei Kedun said.

"What's unreasonable about that? Reading makes you dense!" Yi Li Sha said casually.

Lei Kedun was speechless, realizing he might have overestimated the bloodline chuunibyou girl's intellect, and explained, "If something in your hand gets knocked off, you should at least feel it, right? I didn't have any related thoughts at all; I can only say there was a thief nearby who could steal people's thoughts."

"A thief who can steal people's thoughts? You aren't trying to regain some lost face, are you?" Yi Li Sha said with a rather doubtful tone.

"Sequence Five: Dream Thief. Extraordinary beings of this sequence can take away others' ideals and dreams, steal memories, even snatch the thoughts someone is about to act on. You don't even know any of that yet you dare to go after the thief alone?" Lei Kedun hadn't expected this chuunibyou bloodline girl to be so reckless.

"How could I have known a crazy prankster would have such a high sequence!" Yi Li Sha felt a bit aggrieved: "Wait! Since your church already knows this information, why send a weakling who just took a demon pill and hasn't mastered his traits and abilities yet?"

The weakling was speechless for a moment, sighed, and said, "So clearly I'm not here to investigate the incident! I'm just here to watch and gain experience. Moreover, I judged the opponent to be a Sequence Five extraordinary based on what just happened to me; I didn't know that before coming, otherwise I wouldn't have come!"

"Coward! You gave up so quickly." Yi Li Sha felt she might die of anger at this guy, having never seen such an annoying Knowledge Church person.

"The opponent is likely a Sequence Five, or at least a Sequence Seven or Six who has mastered the corresponding sealing artifact; none of those are someone like me, just a freshly minted Sequence Eight who hasn't even mastered my own extraordinary ability, let alone handle them. Moreover, my path hasn't given any combat boost yet." Lei Kedun was also helpless, having not anticipated the opponent might be a strong Sequence Five before arriving.

"Since you're already here, come, let's go find that guy together." Yi Li Sha, regardless of Lei Kedun's emphasis on the opponent's strength, persisted in wanting to catch him.

Lei Kedun glanced at her and said, "So you're the hospital doctor whose collection was stolen?"

"Not me; the one whose figurine was stolen is my brother." Yi Li Sha said.

"Your bloodline's hobby is rather peculiar; what else was stolen from you?" Lei Kedun could only remark on the bloodline's obsession with figurines.

"What do you mean 'our bloodline'? Only my brother, okay? That damned thief stole my Pass; it was so small, so cute!" Yi Li Sha's expression grew angry as she talked about her stolen Pass, her cold‑white skin taking on a hint of blood.

"Your brother is called Ai Mulin?" Lei Kedun asked curiously; he recalled that the bloodline who loves collecting figurines was from Beikeland.

"What Ai Mulin?" Yi Li Sha asked puzzled.

"Never mind, let's go, and check other parts of the hospital. Given the thief's twisted taste, after all this effort they'll surely pick a good spot to watch this drama." Lei Kedun shook his head and beckoned Yi Li Sha to head to other floors of the hospital.

"You seem to know a lot about this kind of thing? You aren't one of them, are you?" Yi Li Sha asked.

"Of course not; it's just analyzing a person's psychology and behavior to predict their next move. By the way, do you have any magical items? Anything I could borrow for self‑defense?" Lei Kedun explained, then, realizing that as a rookie hunting a high‑sequence strongman hidden here was risky, he also asked Yi Li Sha, a bloodline, if she had anything she could use for self‑defense.

"You have no magical items?" Yi Li Sha said incredulously, then added apologetically, "I only have one magical item, but I can't give it to you—not because I'm stingy, but because non‑bloodline beings suffer severe negative effects from using it."

"Hmm, perfect. The Thief Path has a special sense for treasures; having too many magical items would just be handing equipment to the opponent." Lei Kedun didn't think much of it; rather, he thought it was fine—whether they catch the thief or not didn't matter, since the captain said the matter would be handed over to the Mother Earth Church, and sending a wave of equipment from his side would be a hassle.

Boom! ~Boom Boom! ~ Ah!

Yi Li Sha was about to say something when a sudden explosion upstairs erupted, accompanied by people's screams.

"Don't rush, move slowly, watch the people around you and their expressions; that thief could be hidden nearby. When something happens, think it over several times, keep more thoughts in mind; that way even if the thief tries to steal our ideas, he'll need to steal them multiple times, giving us some reaction time." Lei Kedun grabbed the bloodline girl who was about to sprint upward and reminded her.
