Chapter 380: Leaving Baiyam

~7 min read 1,366 words

Leiketon felt his perception of knowledge had changed; no longer the previously casual attitude—whether acquiring or spreading knowledge, there should be a process, requiring both gain and effort.

My former approach was more like a hidden sage, instinctively wanting to disseminate knowledge and directly gather knowledge I had not yet mastered.

While pondering, the layered light and shadow around receded, and Leiketon's view turned into the dim interior of a warehouse.

A sudden cold wind blew outside the warehouse, passing through the ventilated window above the wall and bringing a faint chill inside.

A slight coolness and emptiness made Leiketon instinctively lower his head, and he saw that aside from the "Sage's robe" there was no other fabric on him; feeling uneasy, he tugged at the black robe draped over his body.

"The casualty rate of my clothes is a bit high; I can't just keep forging magical items to wear, can I?"

After a sigh, he casually reached forward, plucked an illusory hat from the void, and placed it on his head.

His figure vanished along with all traces.

"I'll leave first; you should return to the Golden Dream as well."

As a somewhat wavering voice fell, the prophet's duplicate could no longer sense anyone else nearby.

"Duplicates and the like are indeed the most handy tools."

He let out a somewhat speechless sigh, then summoned several invisible giant hands to clean up the lingering remnants of the ritual.

After cleaning the warehouse, he looked around, then pressed an empty space in midair, slightly turned his wrist, and as a faint blue light swirled, a "door" connecting to the spirit realm opened.

He curled his lip, stepped through, and a wave of pale blue rippled like water, restoring calm to the warehouse.

On Monday morning, in the spirit realm region corresponding to Baiyam, Leiketon's figure lingered there.

After a night of recuperation, he had readjusted his condition and returned to Baiyam.

Since arriving here, his intuition has been vaguely foreboding that as soon as he leaves the spirit realm and descends to the real Baiyam, he will suffer a powerful blow.

Staring at the real world beyond the spirit realm, his eyes suddenly deepened, like the sea before a storm, losing focus into a vague expanse.

Using his prophetic ability, he saw the events he might face after leaving the spirit realm for Baiyam: a darkness that compels one to fall into a deep sleep and silver‑white lightning that envelops everything.

The Storm Church possesses seals like Arodes that can directly lock onto me within a certain range? With a slight sigh, Leiketon decided to alter and conceal his appearance and aura.

His gaze casually swept, and through the spirit realm he spotted an inconspicuous folk herbal shop, seeing a plump owl and a plump beast‑tamer.

Dakeweir? He seemed not in great shape, but showed no signs of fate being disturbed—has he not yet obtained that probability die? It should be soon, though.

As the thought surfaced, a strong sense of danger rang out instantly.

Leiketon, without thinking, reached into the void before him, grasped an invisible layer that covered him, turning himself into a non‑existent state; with his other hand he produced an illusory hat, hiding his form.

As soon as he finished, he saw a jet‑black crow fly over the area he had just watched; around the crow's right eye was a ring of white eye shadow.

A Meng's duplicates truly are everywhere—suddenly appearing on the Rosted Archipelago, did they sense something or foresee something? "Those who wield fate domain abilities are troublesome; any abnormal shift, they always detect the problem instantly."

Muttering a self‑deprecating remark, he casually produced a sheet of paper, used powder he carried in place of ink, and, via a spell, left a line of writing on it.

He conjured specks of starlight, wrapped the paper in them, and sent it toward another region of the spirit realm, then slipped back into reality.

Inside an inn in the Baiyam dock district.

Daniz lay in a recliner with a look of utter despondency, muttering:

"When will I finally get back to the Golden Dream?"

"Many ships to and from Baiyam have been halted these past two days; if this continues, I'll truly become that German Sparo fellow's personal attendant."

Tu Ba Ge lounged on the sofa beside him, leisurely eating fruit; having learned from Claire about Leiketon's rescue, it deliberately bragged, muttering toward Daniz in a voice just audible to him:

"Ah, a rabbit life without worries is truly wonderful!"

"Damn fat rabbit! When I get back to the Golden Dream, I'll have the whole ship join me for a rabbit feast."

Daniz clenched his eyes in fury, fearing that the sight of Tu Ba Ge's swagger would make him want to set the rabbit's fur on fire.

His inspiration was suddenly sparked; before he could open his eyes, a pale yellow sheet had already stuck to his face.

"What… what is this?"

Startled, he jerked his torso and sprang up from the recliner.

Tu Ba Ge also noticed the shift, his curious gaze looking over to see a familiar pale yellow paper drifting onto Daniz's face.

"Boss's letter!" it cried, leapt straight from the sofa onto Daniz, who stumbled and slammed into the glass window, producing a loud bang.

Daniz stepped back two paces, one hand pulling off the paper from his face, the other rubbing his nose.

"Damn rabbit, if it weren't for the hunter's demonic elixir's body‑control, I'd have been knocked by it, shattering the glass and falling out the window."

He clenched his teeth, still unable to hold back his urge to scold Tu Ba Ge; before he could speak, the paper in his hand was snatched away by Tu Ba Ge, who then leapt off him back onto the sofa.

It spread the paper before it, a paw rubbing its chin,

"This damned fat rabbit, loves studying so much—just take it to the Golden Dream and put it through daily morning drills," Daniz sneered, his eyes still glowering at Tu Ba Ge.

A moment later, Tu Ba Ge handed the paper to Daniz, saying, "Boss told you to buy a ticket at will; once you leave the waters near Baiyam, he'll reappear and escort you back to the Golden Dream."

"Why not come directly?" Daniz repeated subconsciously.

"I don't know; the boss didn't say, but he told you to bring me aboard."

Tu Ba Ge grinned at Daniz, pulling out a grin that showed two large front teeth.

Daniz paused as he reached for the paper; the good mood he had about returning to the Golden Dream was instantly ruined.

Afternoon, at a dock in Baiyam.

Daniz, carrying a large and a small suitcase, queued to board a passenger ship—the earliest departure that afternoon, bound for the westernmost Teyatiwa Island of the Rosted Archipelago.

"These damn bitches all chose cheap cabins and moved so fast! It forced me to buy first class; I just wanted to stay on the ship for a while!"

Daniz felt his heart bleed; this vacation yielded nothing, and because of German Sparo he lost a lot of money.

The only gain was my bounty increasing a lot on these shitty days; luckily I'm about to return to the Golden Dream, never seeing that mad guy again. Also, that damned fat rabbit—why is it so heavy? Is its flesh poured with molten iron?

Daniz expressionlessly swapped the positions of the two suitcases in his hands, then stretched his slightly sore right hand.

As the crowded crowd pushed forward, he finally boarded the passenger ship, and under the attendant's guidance found his assigned room.

He eagerly pushed open the door, set the two suitcases down, then turned and shut the door.

"Get me out quickly, it's suffocating in here."

Tu Ba Ge's voice came from the slightly larger suitcase.

Daniz pursed his lips, deliberately slowed his movements, and only after Tu Ba Ge angrily patted the suitcase several times did he open it.

As soon as the suitcase was opened, a gray silhouette shot out, kicked off Daniz's body, then leapt onto the single sofa placed against the wall.
