Chapter 393: Chase
Central Sunia Sea, inside an empty inn room on Toscat Island.
Specks of dazzling starlight suddenly surged from the spirit realm, quickly converging, and within the fragments of starlight formed the figure of Rekton as he originally appeared.
He glanced casually around the room; his spiritual intuition was not triggered. Rekton let out a long sigh, walked straight to the round table by the window, pulled out a wooden chair with a cushion and sat down, unable to help but exclaim aloud:
"I've circled the Luosi De Archipelago so widely that I've also interfered with the spirit realm's relevant data; A Meng should no longer be able to track me."
"Are you talking about me?"
"Then you may be disappointed; I've been watching you all along."
A Meng's voice suddenly rang out, as if whispered next to the ear, making one's hair stand on end.
Rekton's eyes darkened slightly, his gaze falling on the seat opposite the round table; his vision flickered, and a familiar figure was seated there.
A Meng lounged on the wooden chair, his right hand continually tossing a piece of transparent amber sealed within black mist.
Rekton froze for a moment, as some forgotten memories began to surface in his mind.
"It seems you've almost remembered, so I don't need to return the corresponding memories and thoughts to you."
"Don't toss things around casually, especially those that belong to a part of your power."
"Otherwise, I'll find them!"
A Meng's mouth always held a hint of a smile as he playfully handed the transparent amber to Rekton, saying:
"How annoying, why didn't the Lord of the Storm strike that guy down just now!" Rekton, expressionless, glanced at A Meng opposite him; his eyes suddenly deepened, surrounded by a deep‑blue radiance.
Under his gaze, the transparent amber in A Meng's hand instantly shattered into specks of dazzling starlight, vanishing in an instant, leaving only a black‑mist‑like substance in A Meng's hand.
A Meng chuckled indifferently, flicked his fingers casually, and as if performing a magic trick, concealed the black mist and produced a slightly cracked single‑lens glass.
A Meng's voice, full of delight, said, "Although I lost a batch of clones, the Sea Wave Church was truly stolen by me; that was thanks to your mysterious reappearance."
"I'm in a good mood today; as a reward, I intend to tell you some truly effective secrets. I think no secret‑seeker would dislike this kind of occult knowledge."
A Meng's mouth gradually curved into a smile, completely ignoring Rekton's rejecting expression, and he lightly laughed as he spoke:
"Do you know the Redemption Rose?"
"It seems you know; it certainly wasn't the betraying dragon Herabogen that told you. They only vilely conceal the true history."
The radiance in Rekton's eyes grew brighter, his thoughts becoming increasingly calm, preventing any superfluous thoughts or emotions from arising.
A Meng gave him a casual glance, smiled indifferently, and continued:
"This is an organization summoned by Night and Sasilier to assassinate my father; among them are the current Seven Gods, the former Angel King who served my father, and some of their minions. They conspired together in the Giant King's Court and killed my father."
"What magic do you derive from this story, what is it called, and what effect does it have?"
Rekton, expressionless, looked at A Meng and said in an even tone:
"Do you think I would use this mysterious reappearance?"
A Meng's face showed no extra expression; he slightly raised an eyebrow and said:
"Why not use it? Don't you think applying this mysterious reappearance to them directly would be more interesting?"
Rekton fell silent for a moment, and subconsciously visualized the Lord of the Storm's trident thrust toward himself.
In an instant, he composed his emotions and cleared the sudden thoughts from his mind.
"So that's the effect; it fits those traitors perfectly."
A Meng's deep voice said, and the slightly tear‑stained single‑lens glass in their hand had turned into a black mist at some point.
"When? Have I had the relevant thought stolen again?" Rekton, just as he was about to disperse, heard A Meng's voice:
"Am I the type of thief who frequently steals others' things? I only performed a little fraud."
Rekton restrained his urge to retort, shifted his gaze away from the apostle of desire in A Meng's hand, and casually asked, "Can your fraud turn nonexistent things into real existence?"
"I'm just fraud, I can't just imagine." A Meng chuckled, shook his head, and continued, "Shall I tell you some secret stories about Steam? Guaranteed secret, guaranteed true."
Rekton, as if he hadn't heard their words, said, "Can you, by means of fraud rules, even fraud the world, make people treat events from their dreams as reality, and have some of that feedback manifest physically on them?"
A Meng reached out, pinched the single‑lens glass at his right eye, slowly curled his lips, like a child who found a favorite toy, and said with a hint of anticipation:
"Interesting idea; once I become an error, I will definitely try it. This is truly fun!"
"Now I can easily cheat the rules, but cheating the world still presents some difficulties."
"It's only difficult, not impossible," Rekton's gaze swept over A Meng, unable to read any reaction on their face.
"When Steam first became a true god, it hadn't yet assimilated its Level‑One elixir; it was forced by the pressure of the Morse Ascetic Society."
Thump~ Thump~ Rekton rhythmically tapped his fingers on the table, interrupting A Meng's words.
The next moment, a lone deep‑blue‑purple eye emerged from the surroundings, surfacing from shadows, cracks, and every dark corner.
It flickered with pure light, yet remained cold and emotionless, without warmth.
In each eye's pupil, layers of illusory symbols constructed by doors appeared, each linking to different realms of the spirit world.
A Meng squinted, his voice carrying a barely perceptible emotion as he said:
"Do you want to play hide‑and‑seek with me?"
"Interesting, how about we raise the stakes a bit?"
As A Meng's words finished, Rekton's figure became suddenly transparent, turning into a statue formed from countless gathered starlight.
The statue shattered at once, dazzling starlight rippled and scattered, flowing into each surrounding eye.
As the starlight surged, the surrounding eyes began to flicker intermittently, as if constantly vanishing and reappearing.
A Meng slowly curled his lips, his right hand gripping the black mist tightly, as illusory, viscous black liquid continuously poured from his hand, surging to cover the surrounding starlight.
These black liquids, condensed from various emotions and desires, the moment they appeared caused each surrounding cold, indifferent eye to be stained with frantic emotion, its flickering speed suddenly accelerating.
"Heh, such completely random spirit‑realm coordinates can indeed shake me off to a large extent, but do you really dare to step into them?"
A Meng's voice, dim and indistinct, echoed through the room, stirring layer upon layer of agitation.
The surrounding eyes suddenly burst, turning into clusters of dazzling starlight that directly covered the surrounding viscous darkness, concealing A Meng's figure.
Rekton's figure reassembled among the starlight fragments; his right index and middle fingers pinched a white‑jade game piece, gently pressing it before him.
A Meng's hand, moving to pinch the monocle at his eye position, suddenly slowed in speed, as if the flow of time on his body had been reduced.
It lasted only an instant, and A Meng's action returned to normal.
"Interesting!" He let out a soft sigh, and the starlight that had filled the surroundings vanished instantly, as if it had never appeared.
Lei Kedun was not surprised that A Meng could resolve the situation he had created so quickly; he took a slight step back, and a 'door' instantly formed behind him.
This 'door' had no fixed connection point; stepping into it could cause one to appear anywhere in the Spirit Realm.
With the motion of stepping back, Lei Kedun's figure instantly vanished into the 'door'.
He gave A Meng a faint smile, watching the distance between them disappear, and entered the 'door' together with himself.
The surroundings instantly turned into thickly layered blocks of rich color, like entering a constantly twisting passage, continually shifting direction as they receded.
A Meng's voice echoed unimpeded in Lei Kedun's ear:
"This kind of randomness can't shake me off; I can easily modify where I appear."
