Chapter 737: Ice Cream

~8 min read 1,587 words

Kelei En remained silent, nodded, skipped the topic, and asked, "What is the chance for you to digest the Miracle Master's elixir?"

Lei Kedun nodded, his tone calm, and said, "A miracle of death and rebirth."

Kelei En was somewhat astonished, yet not entirely shocked; when he saw the crystal sphere, he had already made a guess.

He thought quietly for two seconds before speaking:

"This belongs to the Miracle Master's ability; the miracle of death and rebirth is essentially a deep utilization of past power. Mr. Men is not the angel of this path, nor does he hold historical authority. Even if I wanted to draw a miracle for him, I couldn't."

"Just tell me your idea. Since you came to see me, you must have already thought it through."

Lei Kedun lightly nodded, leaned back in his chair, and smiled, "It's not impossible. To cheat fate and mock history, you three paths are experts."

"Cheat fate? Mock history?" Kelei En repeated the two phrases, a flash of insight flickering in his mind but never taking shape.

Seeing Kelei En deep in thought, Lei Kedun smiled, curled his finger and tapped the right armrest of the high‑backed chair, and explained simply:

"You can rely on Mr. Men's residual traits, extract one of his projections from history, a projection from before his uniqueness, even before he became an angel; at that time he was likely still untainted."

"I can strip the spiritual imprint Mr. Men left behind, stitch it together with his historical projection, fill the gaps with false information, extend the projection's duration, and awaken a fragment of himself."

"If Mr. Men has already fallen, this historical projection can be equivalent to him; in that state he can incorporate a Diviner's path trait, and finally you can draw a miracle for him."

After hearing Lei Kedun's description, Kelei En frowned, "Historical projections do not die; they merely return to historical gaps after their spirit is exhausted."

"I will sustain his existence with appropriate knowledge and information, granting abstract knowledge concrete power to disguise him as a normal being rather than a projection. Of course, this requires some rule‑level coordination."

Lei Kedun detailed the solution he had conceived.

Frowning, pondering briefly, Kelei En took out a gold coin for divination, then nodded, "We can give it a try."

"We can try."

"But a dead person probably can't send a wish back."

Lei Kedun smiled and replied offhand,

"It is the wish of the entire Abraham family, and to some extent my wish as well, though far less important than unveiling the Western Continent's seal."

"It's possible, but they must wish first."

Kelei En nodded, not opposed to the attempt; after all, failure would cost him nothing, and if successful, he could not only digest the elixir but also gain an ally against A Meng, and more importantly, perhaps find a chance for his own god‑ascension ritual.

Heh, what am I thinking? I'm only at Sequence 2, still one sequence away from godhood, and for a god‑ascension ritual that requires fooling time, history, or fate once, this attempt might be a bit simpler.

Gathering his thoughts, Kelei En and Lei Kedun continued to discuss details until the attempt to revive Mr. Men was fully settled.

Then he lowered his head to the book wrapped in black shadows on the nearby table; boundless gray mist surged again, an invisible force continuously washing over the tome.

As time passed, the black shadows crumbling into flakes revealed the brass‑colored cover beneath.

Deprived of the order‑shadow's suppression, the Telunsost Brass Book began to turn on its own, swiftly flipping past the immutable gray‑black first half; on the blank pages of the latter half, silver‑white words spontaneously appeared.

These words manifested simultaneously on the first line of the first page and the last line of the last page; halfway through, the silver words halted, as if stuck.

A moment later, at the top of the blank page, a line of tiny silver text appeared: "The following rules are invalid."

The silver words vanished one by one, then reappeared, repeating the previous scene.

Seeing his graft take effect, causing the uniquely evolved Telunsost Brass Book to fall into a looping bug, Kelei En smiled faintly and intensified the gray mist's wash over the tome.

Time slipped by bit by bit; Kelei En noticed the Telunsost Brass Book's resistance to the gray mist weakening, as if it were beginning to acclimate—or rather, to become infused.

Sure enough, the best way to cure contamination is to infect it with another contaminant, replacing it, and Source Fortress happens to have that ability. As for the new contamination, that's not my concern; I've already fulfilled the Great Emperor's wish, and he can deal with the rest himself.

As thoughts fluttered, Kelei En shaped the gray mist into a hand, seized the Telunsost Brass Book, and casually tossed it toward an illusory star above the endless mist.

Using the link forged with the illusory star and the black 'curtain' draped over him, he completed a graft, delivering the Telunsost Brass Book to the captain's cabin of the Dawn Vessel, into the hands of Roselle's projection there.

In that instant, Kelei En felt something inside him quietly shatter, fully merging with his being; the Miracle Master's elixir on him was instantly digested in large part. No wonder the Sequence‑0 Black Emperor can digest so much elixir from any wish's feedback. He wishes to find a few true gods and have them grant him wishes.

While pondering, his gaze fell again on Lei Kedun.

Sensing Kelei En's stare, Lei Kesa shrugged and said evenly,

"I've already offered one chance to fulfill a wish. You can go to Black Night, or Seven Light, or Mr. Azke; those mercury snakes that love ice cream always have wishes within your reach."

Kelei En gave a gentle nod; he already had some ideas in mind.

Beikeland, Dr. Kris's house.

Will Onsetin, sitting in a stroller, rolled his eyes at the ice cream Kelei En handed him and said dryly, "So this is your excuse for giving me fake ice cream?"

Kelei En, feeling a bit guilty, lifted his hand to his nose and explained,

"It isn't fake; during the fifteen minutes the extraordinary ability is active, it is real ice cream, and once that time ends it vanishes directly from your stomach, letting you enjoy the taste without harming the baby's health."

Will Onsetin wore an expression hard to describe and said to Kelei En,

"Then why not just give me all fake ice cream and hide it among real ones? Are you sure you're not just feeling guilty?"

"I must tell you, cheating me isn't cheating fate, unless I become the Wheel of Fate; only then would it be part of destiny."

"Besides, this tiny amount of ice cream won't affect a mercury snake's health."

Kelei En, not too disappointed, nodded, took the few ice creams retrieved from the historical gap, handed the remaining real ice cream to Will, saying, "Alright, the rest will be my atonement."

"That's about right."

Will Onsetin, sitting in the stroller like a little adult, took the ice cream Kelei En gave him and began eating.

Seeing Will engrossed in the ice cream and no longer fussing over the fake one, Kelei En seized the chance to ask, "Do you know where one can find opportunities to grant wishes?"

"There is one right now."

Will Onsetin replied casually, then continued to savor the ice cream, even licking his mouth corner after finishing.

Kelei En watched the satisfied Will, and the wish‑fulfillment feedback resurfaced, the Miracle Master's elixir inside him digesting more.

Looking up at the still‑somewhat bewildered Kelei En, Will Onsetin licked his lips and said,

"Because I've eaten too much ice cream lately, my father worries about my health and won't let me have any this week; luckily you showed up now."

Kelei En silently nodded; he even doubted that his idea to give Will ice cream to satisfy a wish arose solely under the other's influence.

After fulfilling a mercury snake's wish to eat ice cream, Kelei En turned and headed to St. Samuel Cathedral in the West District.

In the prayer hall, he offered a prayer to the Black Night Goddess, expressing his desire to help others realize wishes.

He originally thought the goddess would let him fetch the water of the "Eternal Dark River", but the goddess simply did not respond to his prayer.

Not long after the Divine War ended, the goddess should still be digesting its gains, having no time to pay attention to too many prayers.

In the midst of his thoughts, he saw Leonard walk out from the back of the Prayer Hall; the other also saw him, and both were visibly startled.

Klein withdrew his gaze, turned and left the Prayer Hall, and at the edge of the square where the crowds had returned, he fed the white doves that had flown back from somewhere after the war ended.

Not long after, Leonard appeared beside him and casually asked, "Just now, were you praying to the goddess?"

Klein nodded silently, paused, and seeing Leonard not ask anything else, he changed the subject: "Do you have any wishes lately? Or does that Parles Soroyasde have any wishes?"

"A wish?" Leonard was startled, somewhat uncertainly saying, "Does digesting the Nightwatcher magic potion count?"

Klein nodded and said, "Yes, I will create some suitable environment for digesting the magic potion."
