Chapter 739: Wish

~9 min read 1,648 words

Ai Mulin froze for a moment, instantly recalling the guys from the Rose School and the Demon Clan; he suddenly thought Lei Keton's words made sense, and subconsciously wanted to nod in praise of the Mother Goddess.

He paused, suppressed the impulse inside him, then asked, "Is this why almost all righteous and evil deities oppose the Primeval Moon and the Desire Mother Tree?"

"Because of their existence, once one walks the 'Prisoner' or 'Criminal' path, it's hard to keep oneself, one will gradually fall, indulge desires, unless, like us, one has the Mother Goddess's protection?"

Lei Keton gave a barely expressive nod, then said, "It's not only them, nor only those four paths."

After a dazed pause, Ai Mulin, still bewildered, asked, "What other ones?"

At the far end of the mottled long table, Ke Lai En, manipulating his little alias 'World', cleared his throat lightly and said:

"Do not probe secrets that should remain unknown; once certain hidden dangers are triggered, you won't even have a chance to seek help from Mr. Fool."

Having no chance to ask for help, 'World' means that once you grasp certain secrets, you are silently polluted the instant you know, possibly dying, and the afflicted may not even realize it.

"Justice" Ao Dai Li mentally parsed the warning just given by 'World' Ge Er Man·Si Pa Luo, and decided that once the gathering ended she would give herself a mental suggestion to seal this part, stop thinking about it, stop probing.

Collecting her thoughts, she looked at Lei Keton ahead to the side and, still curious, asked, "Mr. White Tower, besides the four paths just mentioned, which other paths are problematic? Hmm, this should be discussable, right?"

Lei Keton smiled, nodded, and replied, "'Lawyer' and 'Arbitrator'."

"Lawyer?" "Hermit" Jia Deliya paused briefly, then asked with some doubt:

"The extraordinary beings on these two paths don't seem to exhibit overly dangerous traits; they aren't even as risky as the 'Moon' and 'Mother' paths."

She paused, then hesitantly added, "Is it because these two paths have some special..."

'World' Ge Er Man·Si Pa Luo shook his head slightly, his tone low, "No, it's simply because the one at the apex of these two paths doesn't exert influence like the Primeval Moon or the Desire Mother Tree, or the influence is minimal, hard to detect; they remain quiet as if vanished."

Lei Keton laughed and continued, "Not vanished; they are just quietly being a Lamp God."

Lamp God? The Lamp God inside the wishing lamp? Is it an ancient being sealed on Earth? Then didn't it infiltrate Earth long ago, only to be discovered by the then Heavenly Patriarch and sealed?

No wonder this outer god is so quiet, lacking any presence—somewhat tragic. If I were to deal with A Meng, perhaps I could cooperate with it; supporting me to become the Lord of the Mysteries would also be a way of crushing the Heavenly Patriarch's coffin.

As thoughts floated through Ke Lai En's mind, his spiritual intuition was stirred; though not crystal clear, it seemed to indicate that contacting the Lamp God would yield something.

After a brief silence, everyone tacitly ceased discussion of the topic; though curious about the hidden truth, they all remembered Mr. Fool's warning.

"Cough—cough~" "Moon" Ai Mulin cleared his throat twice, drawing everyone's gaze again, then said:

"Everyone, I have another question. I have already obtained the names of the high‑tier demonic elixirs for the 'Sower' and 'Moon' paths, but two of the sequences puzzle me."

"The first sequence of the 'Moon' path is called 'Beauty Goddess', and the second sequence of the 'Sower' path is called 'Desolate Matriarch'; they both seem gender‑specific. Why is that?"

Lei Keton raised an eyebrow, holding back a smile, and said, "Have you ever wondered why the Blood Clan never has princes, only queens, and why the upper echelons of the Earth Church, aside from a few extraordinary warriors of the Warrior path, are almost all female?"

Ai Mulin's complexion turned a bit pale, his lips moved but no words came out. "This must be a test for me," he noted Ai Mulin's expression, and Lei Keton casually explained:

"Don't worry, the Blood Clan's nature is always tense; you are unlikely to become an Angel, and even if you have a chance, you'd only reach the 'Creator' stage."

"I understand."

After two seconds of silence, Ai Mulin gave a faint nod and replied, "Is this really comforting me? Why don't I feel comforted?"

While pondering, he saw the Magician lady glance nervously toward the 'Fool' at the head of the table, raised a hand and said:

"Mr. Fool, the Abraham family has matters they'd like to seek your assistance with; they have asked me to solicit your opinion. Would you be willing to spend some time listening to their prayers?"

"Along with this letter, detailed information on two Level‑0 sealed artifacts was sent: the Star Staff and the Divine Scroll, both derived from the traits of a Wanderer Mage."

"Magician" Fo Er Si gave a detailed description of the extraordinary abilities and side effects of the Star Staff and the Divine Scroll, then, a bit nervous, asked, "Mr. Fool, what is your opinion on these two sealed artifacts?" What is my opinion? I can only say that, as befits a former Angel clan, even though they have long declined, they can still casually produce two Level‑0 sealed artifacts; even the righteous deity churches wouldn't have many such items. As thoughts drifted, Ke Lai En leaned back slightly, and calmly said:

"Let them fulfill one wish—the entire Abraham family's wish—and let Mr. Gate cover the remaining compensation."

"As for those two sealed artifacts, have them entrust them to you for a period of time."

"Huh? Me?" Fo Er Si was stunned for a moment, then, a bit at a loss, said, "But I lack the ability to control a Level‑0 sealed artifact."

Those are Level‑0 sealed artifacts, two of them; even a slight mishap could have the negative effects kill me—well, that's the best-case scenario. If the problem were worse, the seals might fail and an entire city could vanish overnight, cast into the sea floor, a volcano, or even a abyss.

Fo Er Si kept muttering to herself in her mind, but dared not voice the words.

"World will come to you," Ke Lai En explained briefly, then fell silent.

"Magician" Fo Er Si pursed her lips, nodded with some doubt, and said, "Alright, I will pass the information to my teacher."

As Magician Fo Er Si's topic concluded, the Tarot Meeting fell silent again until the Sun raised the issue of Silver City's development in the outside world, prompting everyone to resume a lively discussion.

A few minutes later, today's Tarot Meeting drew to a close; as everyone rose and bowed, streaks of deep crimson light surged, dissolving the silhouettes of the participants within.

Glancing around the suddenly emptier palace, Ke Lai En made his manifested 'World' vanish, then looked at Azk on the left side of the mottled long table and asked aloud:

"Mr. Azk, do you have any wish you need fulfilled?"

"A wish," Azk murmured softly, seeming to contemplate what wish Ke Lai En could actually grant and what he truly needed.

After a moment of silence, he gently nodded, "I wish to see again the relatives of my former identities, even if only as projections from history."

Ke Lai En nodded, his tone gentle, "I understand. I need some medium—not a physical object—just something you have seen, touched, and still recall its appearance."

Then, with his help, Azk manifested the items that would serve as the medium.

It was a wooden knight's straight sword, well preserved; its color alone showed it had existed for a long time, and its former owner seemed to have cherished it.

Besides the wooden sword, there was a classical music box and a somewhat aged wooden comb.

Gazing at the manifested items, Azk gave a slightly absent-minded smile and said, "These are the things I remember most vividly. This is the wooden sword I carved myself for my first child; he loved it, practiced swordsmanship with it daily, and used it to challenge me."

"That music box was a birthday gift I gave to a daughter I once had; it was her most treasured present, but that was eight hundred years ago. Time has blurred many memories; only this music box remains clear, as does that wooden comb."

Azk's voice gradually deepened, acquiring a nasal tone.

Ke Lai En and Lei Keton listened quietly beside him; after Azk finished speaking, Ke Lai En took the items and, through the esoteric link between the objects and their owners, repeatedly attempted to draw projections from the cracks of history.

The time span was too great, and he had virtually no connection with the owners of these items, making it difficult to pull historical projections.

After more than a dozen attempts, he finally succeeded once.

He drew from the historical fissure a little girl in a white dress with lace trim; she seemed about fifteen or sixteen, with gentle features, and her brows and eyes bore a slight resemblance to Mr. Azk.

At the moment this historical projection emerged, Ke Lai En again received feedback from fulfilling another's wish, and this time the feedback was strong—stronger than the combined feedback he got when he saw Seven Light previously.

Indeed, the feedback from helping others fulfill wishes depends not only on the wish's difficulty but also on the intensity of one's own will.

Hmm, looking at it this way, Seven Light's desire to see me then wasn't that strong. Also, they have always been in the spirit realm; as long as I enter the spirit realm, I always have a chance to meet them, and I've already dealt with two of them.
