Chapter 78: The God of Knowledge and Wisdom

~8 min read 1,454 words

"Alright, let's stop here for today, you all go back first!" Mr. Huang ignored Lei Kedun's hesitation, waved his hand to signal departure.

Lei Kedun only felt the scene before his eyes suddenly blur, turning into a vividly colored oil painting, the surrounding scenery rapidly receding, and by the time he came to his senses, he was already standing in his bedroom.

"Boss! We're back!" Tu Ba Ge felt strangely magical as he hopped around.

"Hmm, go lie down in your little nest." After saying that, Lei Kedun stopped paying attention to the energetic rabbit.

Lei Kedun leaned back in the chair beside him, lost in thought: "Should I pray to the God of Knowledge?"

After hesitating for a while, Lei Kedun decided to first pray to the Hidden Sage, asking for his opinion.

Lei Kedun thought that if He were willing, He could easily establish a foothold in the Spirit Realm himself; given the proxy situation, the Hidden Sage's power and stature should be virtually indistinguishable from a true god.

After using a Spiritual Wall to isolate himself and his bedroom, Lei Kedun began to pray to the Hidden Sage:

"Sage who perceives the world, eyes that probe truth, embodiment of endless knowledge and spiritual numbers!"

After finishing the prayer, he also recounted what had just happened, seeking the Hidden Sage's counsel.

The Hidden Sage's response was swift, a brief sentence appearing directly in Lei Kedun's mind: "You may pray."

The Hidden Sage's reply was as Lei Kedun expected; he had already formed some conjecture about the relationship between the Hidden Sage and the God of Knowledge.

After receiving the affirmative answer, Lei Kedun did not hesitate and immediately proceeded to pray to the God of Knowledge and Wisdom.

"Power of knowledge, power of reason, God of wisdom."

Lei Kedun had just finished uttering the reverent name of the prayer when he received a response from the God of Knowledge.

"That response was way too fast? Truly the treatment of a divine favored one!" Lei Kedun thought to himself.

After sensing his prayer answered, Lei Kedun hadn't even had time to voice his request when his vision began to soar infinitely; in a split second, he felt his consciousness seemingly arrive in the Star Realm.

An illusory tower, each layer made of thick books, appeared in Lei Kedun's view; the tower stretched into the sky, as if it enclosed the entire world within itself.

Lei Kedun swallowed, noting that he hadn't lost control; the God of Knowledge and Wisdom must have provided some concealment.

An elderly man wearing a hood, his mouth, wrinkles, and white beard exposed, holding an open book, silently appeared before Lei Kedun.

Lei Kedun hadn't had time to react when control over his body vanished instantly. He felt his body beginning to digitize, transforming from a flesh creature into an information being.

A grand yet selfless consciousness awoke within Lei Kedun's body.

"Newborn sage!" the elder before him murmured.

Lei Kedun wanted to say something, but having lost control of his body, he couldn't even open his mouth.

"I understand your request, I grant it!" After saying this, the elder's figure vanished on the spot, as if he had never appeared.

The tower before him, built from countless accumulated books, seemed like a phantom as it fell downward; Lei Kedun's vision also kept descending until it appeared in the depths of the Spirit Realm.

Lei Kedun's spiritual sense trembled; at that moment, he felt a dozen gazes projected toward him—some hidden, some open, some curious, some indifferent, some malicious—but each gaze was terrifying.

The cluster of data that constituted Lei Kedun's avatar quietly fell into "secrecy" at that moment, while three strands of "secrecy" aura also infused his avatar's data.

The presence of "secrecy" rendered everything silent; those gazes did not notice the inconspicuous Lei Kedun. Except for a gaze bearing a tranquil meaning, which seemed to linger on Lei Kedun for a moment.

In the next instant, the tower of countless books collapsed with a thunderous crash, books scattering. The surrounding Spirit Realm also changed, rows of bookshelves sprang up from all directions, and the scattered books began automatically sorting themselves onto the shelves.

Tiny brass-colored glimmers darted about, tracing one mysterious symbol after another; walls, floors, and ornaments rapidly materialized. A magnificent library thus appeared in Lei Kedun's view, as if it had become part of the Spirit Realm.

The aura of "secrecy" began to permeate the interior of the library, isolating all sight.

The spirituality on Lei Kedun's body spontaneously began to overflow outward; wave after wave of massive information, in an illusory form, surged from his consciousness, wandering every corner of the library, coating its interior with a faint, colorless glow.

This information eventually coalesced into a tangible object at the library's center: a ring constructed of countless gears and machinery, with sparks and smoke continuously rising from it.

The ring, barely formed, immediately began to split, ultimately yielding three incomplete rings. The three rings resembled a fate triangle—independent yet partially overlapping.

An all‑knowing eye suddenly appeared at the center of the leftmost ring.

An eyelash‑less eye composed of discontinuous twisted lines emerged at the center of the top ring.

An image of an open book page, woven and outlined by several twisted lines, appeared at the center of the right ring.

Once all three rings were fully formed, the library ceased changing, the scene solidified in the depths of the Spirit Realm, leaving only the three incomplete rings in the library's center slowly rotating.

Lei Kedun's consciousness began to descend again, the sensation of weightlessness lasting a breath. When he regained his senses, he was back in his bedroom, his body still perched on the chair.

"Phew—what a scare! Those beings capable of casting a gaze must have all taken a look!" Lei Kedun murmured softly.

The earlier commotion was far larger than Lei Kedun had expected, especially in the depths of the Spirit Realm; the instant he felt those gazes, his avatar's information cluster seemed about to explode. Though most gazes were curious or indifferent, many were malicious.

"No wonder I was told to pray to the God of Knowledge and Wisdom; if the Hidden Sage handled this, it might truly be impossible," Lei Kedun murmured.

"But the God of Knowledge and Wisdom also has it rough; there were quite a few malicious gazes just now—likely the Hanged Man, A Meng, Storm, Eternal Blazing Sun, and even those Outer Gods—each one scheming, yet none willing to be the first to act." Lei Kedun tallied them and realized there weren't even enough hands to count.

The God of Knowledge is no better off than the Hidden Sage; however, as one of the Seven Great True Gods, his stature and status are more convenient, and crucially he is not a solitary figure like the Hidden Sage.

"But what exactly did the God of Knowledge do then? Did he project his divine realm onto the Spirit Realm? What does the ring splitting into three mean? Were permissions divided into three parts? Or did the corresponding authority fragment? Moreover, just now the 'secrecy' imposed on me was a bit excessive!" Lei Kedun closed his eyes, recalling the scene.

The matter was temporarily put to rest, but Lei Kedun's questions remained numerous; it seemed the Hidden Sage or the Knowledge Wilderness had secret dealings with some deities.

Lei Kedun rubbed his irritated head, temporarily suppressing the high‑level information, and turned to examine what new changes the ring might have.

Closing his eyes to meditate, Lei Kedun visualized the ring's shape in his mind, and his spirituality began to vibrate along with it.

A slightly damaged brass-colored ring slowly materialized behind Lei Kedun; its center was no longer empty, now containing an image of an open book formed by several twisted lines.

Lei Kedun's consciousness sensed a deeper connection with the Spirit Realm, even without using spiritual sight he could glimpse parts of its vista. Something else lingered in the depths of the Spirit Realm, resonating remotely with the ring on his body.

"It reduces the drain on his own spirituality, and allows easier borrowing of the Spirit Realm's power for casting, while granting high resistance to the Realm's information pollution," Lei Kedun muttered to himself about the ring's change.

"Most importantly, the grand library in the Spirit Realm now appears to have become a central processor, constructing a local network for this system; no wonder Mr. Huang said it would have to handle a massive information flow—He had already foreseen and refined my idea!" Lei Kedun, upon thinking this, felt something was off, always sensing that Mr. Huang didn't seem like an ordinary wise angel.
