Chapter 79: Spirit Realm Mage
"Boss! Boss! The ring on my body has mutated!" Tu Ba Ge hurriedly hopped onto Lei Kedun's thigh, interrupting his contemplation.
"Mutated?" Lei Kedun looked at Tu Ba Ge with curiosity, waiting for its next words.
"Boss, look quickly, it lost a piece and is now attached to something else; I feel like it's become part of my body," Tu Ba Ge said anxiously and worriedly.
A slightly broken brass-colored ring slowly materialized behind Tu Ba Ge, and at its center was an image of an open book outlined by several twisted lines.
"Hmm? It's the same as mine—does that mean the ring originally came from me? So the other two symbols correspond to the God of Knowledge and the Hidden Sage? Then what does the book image represent?" Lei Kedun guessed uncertainly.
"Boss, am I about to become a mutated rabbit?" Tu Ba Ge asked, still full of worry about its condition.
"You've always been a mutated rabbit!" Lei Kedun reminded his plump rabbit.
"Right! I've always been a mutated rabbit," Tu Ba Ge nodded thoughtfully.
Lei Kedun fell silent for a moment; his own rabbit was not only fat but also a bit stupid.
"Can you use this ring to connect to the library deep within the Spirit Realm?" Lei Kedun asked curiously.
"Library? The place with lots of books? But the books there are all blank, and they consume a lot of spiritual energy," Tu Ba Ge said, shaking its head.
"The books are all blank?" Lei Kedun was taken aback.
He hadn't expected the God of Knowledge to pile so many books in that library, only to find they were all mere facades!
Lei Kedun closed his eyes, attempting to use the ring to link with the library and pour his consciousness into it.
As his consciousness connected with the floating ring behind him, his vision blurred, and Lei Kedun felt his mind traveling through a special channel into the depths of the Spirit Realm.
When his sight cleared, Lei Kedun found himself back in the library deep within the Spirit Realm, only this time he was present here in the form of a spiritual body rather than in an informational state.
"You're here!" Mr. Huang's voice suddenly sounded beside his ear.
Lei Kedun turned back in surprise; by a bookshelf, Mr. Huang seemed to be organizing the books.
"Mr. Huang, how did you get here?" Lei Kedun asked, surprised.
"I'm now the librarian of this library," Mr. Huang said, his voice still warm.
"Librarian? You were assigned a job so quickly?" Lei Kedun hadn't expected Mr. Huang, who had previously claimed to be an external staff member of the Church, to be assigned so fast.
"Because I'm the most suitable—having an angelic stature and power, and being relatively idle; the Knowledge Church has only me," Mr. Huang said, shaking his head, his tone neutral.
He added, "Actually there are three librarian positions; you and the Hidden Sage can also send someone to be a librarian, or come yourself."
"Do I have a share too?" Lei Kedun asked, surprised.
He realized he and the Hidden Sage were still counted separately, and he didn't know what kind of deals and profit divisions lay behind it.
"Of course, will you come to serve as librarian? Or whom do you intend to appoint?" Mr. Huang nodded, then asked again.
"Leave it vacant for now; I only have a rabbit under me, no one to send," Lei Kedun waved his hand.
"The books here aren't cataloged yet; if you're interested, you can compile knowledge into books and upload them here. Others who wish to view them can be charged with items, knowledge, or spiritual energy," Mr. Huang explained the library's function.
"Upload knowledge? Others viewing?" Lei Kedun's eyes lit up; he finally found an opportunity to act as a keeper of knowledge.
"Mr. Huang, do many people come here?" Lei Kedun asked curiously.
Mr. Huang shook his head: "In the future there should be many; for now it only circulates within the Knowledge Church. The Hidden Sage is unlikely at this stage to pass this system to the Morse Ascetic Sect; he has other plans."
He added at the end: "But you yourself can also spread this system outward."
"Understood, can a librarian directly view the books in this library?" Lei Kedun nodded; after all, there were already many people from the Knowledge Church.
"Of course, most of them can," Mr. Huang replied affirmatively.
Lei Kedun breathed a sigh of relief; he now had some privileges and could freely obtain knowledge here.
"By the way, the three librarian permissions each require a corresponding title; the other two have theirs, only yours is missing," Mr. Huang seemed to recall and reminded him again.
"Title? What are the other two?" Lei Kedun asked curiously.
"The portion I oversee is the All-Seeing Eye; the Hidden Sage's permission is the Guardian of Truth," Mr. Huang replied.
"Guardian of Truth? I thought it would be the Mystic Eye! After all, the symbols are all eyes," Lei Kedun said, half in awe, half curious.
"Perhaps this title has another meaning!" Mr. Huang said, his words deep.
Lei Kedun remained silent; the title clearly pointed toward the Knowledge Wilderness, though he didn't know what the Knowledge Wilderness intended.
"Then I'll call my permission Great Sage!" Lei Kedun added a 'Great' before his sage attribute, making it a new title.
As soon as Lei Kedun finished speaking, he felt his sage attribute stir, as if influenced and showing signs of merging into his body.
"Not bad, it seems you've made a choice; I thought you'd pick the Intelligent Angel!" Mr. Huang said with a sigh.
"Huh?" Lei Kedun was taken aback, then realized the title choice wasn't something he could just say casually; he had been careless.
"What do you intend to call this new system?" Mr. Huang asked without further explanation, changing the subject.
"Based on the Spirit Realm's spellcasting system, I'll call it Spirit Realm Mage! With a distinctive ring behind me, perhaps Ring Mage as well," Lei Kedun this time didn't give a casual reply but thought for a while before offering the answer he felt fit.
"Fine!" Mr. Huang nodded lightly, not specifying whether the first or second name was acceptable.
Lei Kedun had originally wanted to ask about the meaning of the open-book symbol and the earlier title, but the next moment his spiritual energy could no longer sustain his stay, forcing him to reluctantly end this Spirit Realm journey.
Lei Kedun's spiritual entity quickly dissipated, returning along the path he came from back into his own body.
When Lei Kedun opened his eyes, he saw a rabbit face posted in front of him; Tu Ba Ge was propping himself up, looking at him with a worried expression.
"Boss, you're finally back!" Tu Ba Ge sighed in relief, crawling back onto Lei Kedun's leg.
"Could you see that I was gone for a while?" Lei Kedun asked curiously; logically, the extraordinary one of the Farmer's Path shouldn't have such high spiritual perception.
"I can't see, but I can feel that you, boss, weren't here just now—no, your mind wasn't here, no, only your body is here," Tu Ba Ge stammered.
"My spiritual entity left this place and entered the depths of the Spirit Realm," Lei Kedun said wordlessly, smoothing the rabbit's words.
Lei Kedun always felt that after this rabbit underwent the Hidden Sage's knowledge infusion, it still wasn't any smarter.
"Exactly! That's how it is," Tu Ba Ge quickly nodded, echoing Lei Kedun's words.
"Alright, it's fine now; you go back to your little nest and lie down, I need to rest too," Lei Kedun waved his hand, letting Tu Ba Ge get down from his leg.
After Tu Ba Ge hopped back to his little nest, Lei Kedun turned off the gas wall lamp on the wall and lay down on the bed to rest.
Lying on the bed, Lei Kedun kept recalling Mr. Huang's words, "I thought you'd choose the Intelligent Angel!"
Lei Kedun always felt this sentence was very profound; he seemed to have made a crucial decision, but he couldn't figure out what it was.
"One Sequence Two of the Hermit Pathway, one Sequence Two of the White Tower Pathway—could it be that I'm supposed to choose my future promotion direction?" Lei Kedun muttered to himself.
The reason he didn't choose the title "Wisdom Angel" was entirely because the God of Knowledge had once been a Wisdom Angel under the Ancient Sun God, so Lei Kedun subconsciously avoided it.
But in the end, Mr. Huang's reaction seemed to be rather hopeful that he would choose the title "Wisdom Angel".
"Ah, why think so much? You've already chosen, go to sleep! Sleep!" Lei Kedun sighed in his heart.
Afterward, he cleared his mind and entered deep sleep through meditation.
