Chapter 407: Volume 1, Chapter 407 – Sinful Island (3)

~7 min read 1,328 words

Jiang Zhi, who had lost too much blood, fainted right after hearing his two sentences.

When she woke up, she lay on the hospital bed, an IV drip in the back of her hand; the room was dim, thick curtains covered the window, letting only a trickle of morning light seep through.

She struggled to sit up, dizzy and blurred vision, breathing deeply, and surveyed the unfamiliar surroundings.

The ward door was pushed open from outside; a nurse pushing a treatment cart entered, saw she was awake, smiled, and said, "You're awake."

Jiang Zhi's face was full of vigilance; she huddled defensively at the edge of the bed, staring at her silhouette.

After the nurse changed her medicine, she whispered, "Don't be afraid, this is a hospital."

Jiang Zhi opened her dry mouth and asked, "Who brought me here?"

The nurse replied, "Doctor Xu."

Having said that, she turned and left the ward.

Jiang Zhi opened her watch screen; the system's instructions were gone, leaving only a countdown: thirty days.

One day had already passed, leaving 29 days.

Surviving one day awards 100 points, which can be used to buy food, weapons, and daily necessities at the city mall.

It can also be used to buy medicine to improve one's physique.

For Jiang Zhi, this was undoubtedly good news.

Mainly because this body is too weak; she gets out of breath after just two steps.

She checked the system mission.

The villain column still shows a question mark; it seems the vampire who sucked her blood last night is not the villain.

Right now, the most important thing is to go to the city mall to buy medicine that improves physique.

She pulled out the IV needle from the back of her hand, lifted the blanket, and tiptoed to the front of the ward.

Pushing open the door, she saw doctors and patients coming and going; the hallway's glass walls poured in rows of brilliant sunlight, the spotless white floor smooth with clear grain, and the bustling footsteps fell in her ears.

Everything before her eyes was completely a normal-world hospital.

There was no danger, only harmony and beauty.

Jiang Zhi stared blankly for a moment, then leaned on the wall and walked step by step toward the elevator.

After entering the elevator, she hugged her arms and stood at the very back.

She was on the 19th floor of the inpatient department.

The elevator stopped at each floor; it was somewhat crowded inside, and the air was filled with a medicinal smell.

Jiang Zhi lowered her head.

She was afraid of running into the man who had saved her the previous night.

After a long while, the elevator finally stopped at the first floor.

Just as she was about to leave with the crowd, a familiar tall figure blocked her path.

Jiang Zhi hadn't gotten a clear look at the man's face the previous night; hoping to slip by, she tried to go around him, but he grabbed her wrist.

The man in a white coat had gold-rimmed glasses perched on his nose bridge; his long, slender fingers gripping her wrist were icy cold, his obsidian-like eyes flickering with a faint smile; his appearance was handsome yet aloof, bearing an astonishing personal charm that clashed sharply with his formidable, dangerous aura.

"Where are you going?"

His voice was low and full of allure.

Jiang Zhi stared at his face; the icy cold where his fingers touched her wrist seemed to drain all her warmth, a chill spreading to her spine, she shivered slightly and slowly asked, "You… who are you?"

The man confined her to the elevator corner, his pure white icy fingertips moving to the side of her neck, his brows and eyes lowered, revealing a hint of softness that softened his aloofness.

"You forgot me? I was the one who saved you last night."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Zhi timidly shrank her neck, her gaze dazed, her slightly reddened eyes betraying unavoidable fear; she wanted to retreat and avoid his touch, but the cramped, narrow space left no escape.

Seeing her remain silent, the man looked down at her from above, his handsome face gradually drawing near, his pale lips slightly curling.

"Are you afraid of me?"

The girl in his arms wore a blue-and-white hospital gown that made her skin look even whiter; the neckline had one button undone, revealing a graceful collarbone; her shoulders trembled uncontrollably, and the tear mole at the corner of her eye was the only vivid red spot.

Hearing her trembling voice say, "No… no."

The elevator doors opened, and a wave of people walked in.

The space felt increasingly cramped.

Jiang Zhi thought he was going to suck her blood; trembling, she shrank her neck and whispered, "I have no blood left; can I wait until my blood recovers before you bite me?"

Another bite would turn her into a dried-up person.

Hearing this, the white-coated man narrowed his eyes, his flawless face breaking into a smile that was impossible to look away from.

"When did I say I wanted to suck your blood?"

Jiang Zhi's mind went blank; she instinctively asked, "Then… what do you want me to do?"

The man smiled, took her hand, and said gently, "Your body isn't well yet; you can't leave the hospital now. I'll take you back to your ward."

Jiang Zhi stiffly replied, "Okay."

The elevator arrived at the 19th floor.

She let the man lead her back to the ward.

It was a single room, likely quite expensive.

Without realizing it, she spoke the words in her heart.

After reacting, Jiang Zhi quickly raised her hand to cover her mouth.

The man lowered his gaze, his eyes sweeping over her cheeks now flushed with a faint crimson, her already nervous, agitated eyes wet and red.

His dark eyes held a smile as he said, "Not expensive."

Saying this, he reached out and gently rubbed her head, the motion soft as if carrying endless tenderness.

You're mine, so you don't need to worry about the cost.

The girl seemed bewitched by him, lost in his gentle voice; when she came to, her face grew redder and redder.

Mm… mm.

She avoided his steady gaze, her fingers nervously intertwined, showing she was nervous and shy.

After the person left.

Jiang Zhi's blush quickly faded; she sat up on the hospital bed, propping her chin as she thought.

From the name tag on the man's white coat, we learned he was Xu Hang, a cardiologist at this hospital.

The entire hospital had no sense of danger or tension at night; it had a normal hospital atmosphere, with everyone following the rules and peacefully completing their day.

There were no vampire attacks causing injury or death.

As the mechanical voice said, this Sinful Island is a completely different world between day and night; after night falls, a thick malice gradually envelops the whole island.

This tranquility is merely an illusion.

Jiang Zhi must leave the hospital today.

To avoid running into Xu Hang again, she needs to come up with a foolproof plan.

The nurse coming to change the saline bag knocked and entered.

Jiang Zhi lay on the hospital bed, letting the nurse insert the needle and start the IV.

During this, she curiously asked, "May I ask you a question?"

The nurse was warm and friendly, nodding and saying, "Sure."

Jiang Zhi asked, "Does Doctor Xu Hang also work on this floor?"

The nurse thought she was also a fan of Doctor Xu, smiling and saying, "No, Doctor Xu works in the cardiology department on Liu Lou; if you want to find him, you can go to his office."

Jiang Zhi thanked her, saying, "Thank you."

As the nurse turned to leave, Jiang Zhi grabbed the vase on the bedside table and, summoning all her strength, smashed it into the nurse's neck.

The nurse collapsed to the floor and passed out.
