Chapter 412: Volume 1 Chapter 412 Sinful Island (10)
In Li Wu's eyes, the girl was like a light that could dispel all darkness, bit by bit illuminating this dark, cold place.
On Sinful Island, slaughter never stops; vampires, while hunting humans, kill their own kind to compete for prey.
On this island, there are no ordinary people—only criminals whose hands are stained with blood.
Li Wu likes this atmosphere; compared to a strictly controlled country bound by law, he prefers this island that does not conceal desire and malice.
The humans abandoned on the island are destined to become food for the blood hunters.
Cameras floating in midair monitor the bloody, brutal scenes of the blood hunters' hunts.
Provided for vampires who enjoy violence and gore to watch.
As the progenitor, he possessed great power from birth; the blood clan ranges from reverence to fear of him.
Fear is like a seed buried in the earth, sprouting and growing into a towering tree; the highest ruling alliance sets layer upon layer of traps to ensnare him, all to eliminate him.
Therefore, all the humans placed on the island have been injected with poison.
Once a vampire drinks blood, it gradually loses its power.
This poison also makes the host like a blooming rose, gradually withering away.
She is no exception.
Gazing at her wholehearted reliance and affection, Li Wu clearly knows these are illusions; when she finally awakens, this dream will be destroyed along with her.
Yet he cannot help but want to draw near.
Possibly from the first time he saw her in the hallway, Li Wu wanted to keep her; deep in his heart surged an inexplicable, strong possessive desire.
A voice deep in his soul constantly tells him she belongs to him and he cannot let her go.
This is an emotion he has never felt before; surprisingly, he does not reject this feeling.
"Ah Li!"
Her doubtful call rang in his ears.
Li Wu lifted his gaze, his vision filled entirely by her face.
"Why are you ignoring me?" Jiang Zhi asked strangely.
Li Wu's gentle tone carried an apology: "What's wrong?"
Jiang Zhi curiously said: "You still haven't told me whether you like the sun or the moon."
Before Li Wu could speak, the phone in the room rang again.
"Ding ding ding—!"
It was an old-fashioned telephone; the ringtone was a flowing piano piece.
Li Wu walked over to answer.
Meanwhile, Jiang Zhi leaned on the desk, chin resting on her hands, watching him answer the call.
Li Wu briefly said a couple of sentences, then hung up.
He turned his gaze to the girl still waiting for an answer, smiled faintly, and said: "Come with me to a place; I'll tell you then."
Jiang Zhi had never left the villa since waking up; she was stunned for a moment, then replied: "Where are we going?"
Li Wu: "A very fun place."
…
A military helicopter was parked in the wide airfield beside the villa.
Following Li Wu onto the helicopter, Jiang Zhi eagerly moved to the anti-theft window to look outside.
As the helicopter rose, the ground gradually shrank and the view widened considerably.
This was her first time seeing the whole island clearly; its shape resembled a swimming whale, with the whale's head being the most prosperous part of the city and the tail end a reef area where torrents surged.
"Ah Li, we live in the whale's belly!" she exclaimed, pointing downward.
Li Wu calmly looked at her and softly responded.
The vampire pilot in the cockpit heard the chatter behind him, glanced sideways, and saw the human girl sitting beside the progenitor.
He recalled his superior's order, quietly took out his phone from his pocket, and aimed it at the human girl behind him to take a photo.
But before he could press the shutter, a terrifying pressure descended upon him from all sides.
The camera was severely damaged, turning pitch black; not a single photo was taken.
The helicopter suddenly jolted; the brief sensation of weightlessness made Jiang Zhi feel exhilarated.
"What happened?" she asked.
The pilot flusteredly replied: "No, nothing, just encountered an air current."
Jiang Zhi felt drowsy, yawned, leaned into Li Wu's arms, and rubbed affectionately: "I'll sleep a bit, Ah Li."
Li Wu took off his coat and covered her with it, his other arm around her waist, letting her rest her head on his leg: "This way you'll sleep more comfortably."
Jiang Zhi closed her eyes and fell asleep instantly.
The helicopter flew for five or six hours.
It stopped near a town.
Jiang Zhi did not know why Li Wu had brought her here; following him, she felt bored.
Dozens of people came to see him for a meeting; she could only sit aside and space out.
A man who looked terminally ill glanced at her warily and said politely: "Progenitor Sir, can you have your blood servant step aside?"
Upon hearing his words, Jiang Zhi felt delighted, thinking she could go out to play.
Li Wu replied calmly: "No."
No one dared to defy his words; they continued discussing the war.
Turmoil in the Eastern Border: a rebel army formed by an A-rank vampire gathered many strong vampire clans and destroyed all the troops sent by the president.
They were all troops sent as reinforcements; too many Vampires died in this internal strife, forcing the president to let the Progenitor appear.
The Progenitor is the sole S-rank Vampire of the vampire clan, possessing formidable combat power and having quelled many rebellions, yet he has always remained on Sinful Island, never returning to the capital.
Jiang Zhi listened and listened, then fell into a deep sleep, her head tilting back as she slumped onto the sofa.
When she woke up, the meeting had already disbanded.
She rubbed her tired eyes and said, "I'm hungry, Ah Li."
Li Wu tidied her sleep-mussed long hair and ordered someone to bring in food.
All the dishes on the table were her favorites; just as Jiang Zhi was about to pick up her chopsticks, she saw out of the corner of her eye that the servant serving the food suddenly drew a silver dagger and was about to stab it into Li Wu's back.
Without a moment's thought, she rushed over at top speed, intending to block that sharp dagger.
Li Wu's reaction was even faster; he raised a finger, and the servant behind him instantly turned into black smoke and vanished on the spot.
After doing that, he embraced the girl who had rushed over.
"It's alright."
Jiang Zhi's heart pounded, her face pale, she watched the black smoke dissipate before asking, "Ah Li, why did he want to kill you?"
Li Wu whispered, "He must have been sent by the enemy; go eat your meal."
Jiang Zhi lost her appetite after that, hastily ate two bites and then stopped.
She went to the bedroom and slept in the coffin.
Her mind still dwelled on what had happened before the meal.
Li Wu saw her absentminded look, reached out and pulled her into his embrace.
"Don't think about it; hurry up and sleep."
Jiang Zhi poked her head out from between his arms, her pinkish-white face lifted, her warm breath spraying onto his cold-white jawbone.
"Ah Li, this place is too dangerous; we should go back."
Li Wu gazed at her clear, pure eyes, his Adam's apple rolling as his fingertip touched the corner of her lips, his voice gentle as water: "Once I finish handling things here, let's go back, okay?"
Jiang Zhi's eyes reddened slightly as she pressed her lips and murmured, "When I saw him stab you with a knife, I was especially frightened, afraid Ah Li would leave me. I truly wished he had wanted to kill me instead."
Then she wouldn't have to live in fear.
Li Wu's expression faltered slightly, then he reached out to support her chin, kissed her at the corner of her lips, and quickly pulled away.
A light, gentle kiss, just a brief touch.
Jiang Zhi felt a tingling sensation in her heart, not wanting the kiss to end, she leaned in and kissed him again.
Their breaths mingled, the temperature gradually growing hot.
A row of light, shallow teeth marks lingered at the corner of the girl's eye where a tear mole sat, her lips flushed lush and rich, soft, delicate sobs escaping.
The youth's cold, white, handsome face remained as calm and gentle as usual, but deep within his amber eyes lay a dim, obscure desire.
"Ah Li… I really like you…"
