Chapter 413: Volume 1, Chapter 413: Sinful Island (11)
What is liking?
The Young Primordial Ancestor abruptly stopped his action, gazing at the emotionally moved girl in his embrace, his undisguised affection spreading in his eyes that shimmered like water ripples, mirroring his own visage.
The doorbell rang, breaking the ambiguous atmosphere inside the room.
"Sir, there's an urgent matter."
Jiang Zhi saw he was about to leave, she wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her face in his embrace, and said in a muffled voice:
"A Li, don't go."
The girl was straightforward and pure, only wanting to keep him.
Li Wu's voice was hoarse: "Obey."
He covered her with the blanket, lightly kissed her forehead, then turned and left.
The room door closed.
Jiang Zhi, unable to sleep after tossing and turning, walked out of the coffin; outside, the night was as dark as ink, with scattered stars scattered across the sky, and the late wind was chilly.
As she withdrew her gaze, several silhouettes flashed past outside the window at extreme speed, shattering the glass and entering the room.
Jiang Zhi dodged the shattered glass, stepped back a few paces, and saw several black-clad figures suddenly appear in the room.
They came with fierce momentum, killing intent rising, their lower faces covered by black cloth, revealing only a pair of hollow, resolute eyes like those of dead soldiers, fixed firmly on her.
Jiang Zhi, seeing this, raised an eyebrow and said: "In the middle of the night, what do you want by breaking into my home?"
The leader of the black-clad men said concisely: "Where is the Primordial Ancestor?"
Jiang Zhi crossed her arms, leaned against the table, and said indifferently: "I don't know who you're talking about; get out right now!"
The black-clad men didn't want to waste more words with her, and moved.
Jiang Zhi evaded their attacks, pulled a special dagger from her pocket that, when it wounded a vampire, would greatly impair its self-healing ability.
Chopping off their heads could completely resolve the matter.
Jiang Zhi, whose mind retained only memories of A Li, had unfamiliar muscle memory; at the moment of their attack, her body instinctively dodged, her wrist strength and speed both strong.
After knocking six or seven black-clad men to the ground, Jiang Zhi's gaze fell on the leader standing not far away, who had not yet moved.
That man pulled out a phone from his pocket, the screen lit up, he compared the photo on it, and his brows furrowed.
"Are you Jiang Xiao Jing?"
Jiang Zhi shook her head upon hearing that name and said: "I'm Wang Xiao Jing; where is this Jiang Xiao Jing from?"
The leader tossed the phone into her hand.
Pa-da.
The phone screen resting in her palm displayed a photo of a girl who looked exactly like her.
Jiang Zhi examined it carefully; the girl in the photo wore a hospital gown and lay on a hospital bed, clearly having the same face as hers, yet giving a different impression.
She gently rubbed the photo on the screen with her fingertip, and a sense of familiarity inexplicably arose in her heart.
"Your memories have been erased by the Primordial Ancestor, leaving only his. Don't you want to know who you really are?"
Jiang Zhi froze in place, raised her hand to rub her faintly aching forehead, and slowly said: "Who am I?"
A man dressed in black calmly regarded her and said: "As part of the deal, you must leave with me."
They were assassins sent by an organization, with two missions: one, to kill the Primordial Ancestor; two, to rescue the human girl beside the Primordial Ancestor.
Jiang Zhi sneered: "You think I'll believe you just because of a photo?"
The man showed no surprise, sensed a vampire approaching nearby, did not continue persuading, and said: "If you want to recover your memories, send a blank text to the first number in your phone."
Having said that, he jumped out the window and vanished into the night.
Jiang Zhi turned off the phone, put it in her pocket, listened to the footsteps outside the door growing nearer, until the door was pushed open.
Li Wu saw the mess inside the room, his pupil color slightly deepened.
The vampire lying on the ground still clung to a breath; he walked over, slightly lifted his finger, and a vampire was choked by the void, followed by torment worse than death.
That vampire kept his mouth shut, made no sound, and turned into black smoke, disappearing.
Li Wu swept his sleeve, and the vampires on the ground vanished.
He walked to her side, lifted her pale, soul-less face, and said softly: "Sorry, I came late."
Jiang Zhi remained silent for a few seconds, then asked: "A Li, where did I come from?"
Why couldn't she remember where she came from?
A voice in her heart kept telling her that she had forgotten something very important.
What exactly was it?
Li Wu's fingertip paused slightly; his narrow eyes stared at her without blinking, his handsome visage composed his exposed emotions, his voice still gentle.
"Do you want to leave me?"
Jiang Zhi hurriedly explained: "No, I just want to know where I came from, why I appeared here, and how I met A Li."
Her raven-black lashes fluttered like butterfly wings, casting a faint shadow beneath her eyes.
"I like A Li, but I've even forgotten our first meeting."
Li Wu held her in his arms, his cold white jaw resting on her head, sniffing the faintly alluring fragrance, he narrowed his eyes, the corner of his mouth curving slightly: "You'll remember in the future."
Jiang Zhi pressed against his broad, heartless chest, closed her eyes, and let out a soft hum.
The Young Primordial Ancestor glanced askance at the broken window, his gloomy pupils flashing a hint of killing intent.
…
One month passed in the inn.
Jiang Zhi's condition worsened; she needed to sleep sixteen hours a day, and the remaining time she was dazed and unable to muster energy.
She thought it was due to not acclimating to the place, believing that enduring it would make it better.
But as time passed, she discovered something was off.
Li Wu always gave her a cup of medicinal broth.
The broth tasted of blood; after drinking it, her discomfort noticeably lessened.
When she saw the medicinal broth brought to her for the tenth time, Jiang Zhi resisted, pursing her lips and turning her face away, not wanting to drink any more.
"Xiao Jing, listen."
Jiang Zhi's lips were pallid; she strained to open her mouth and asked, "Does this contain A Li's blood?"
Li Wu said nothing.
Jiang Zhi drew a deep breath, her respiration rapid, she lifted her hand and tightly gripped his wrist, the corners of her eyes reddening: "A Li, I don't want to... drink."
When a Vampire loses blood, its strength also wanes.
She didn't want, because of herself, to let A Li fall into danger.
Li Wu let out a soft sigh, then tipped his head back and drained the medicinal broth; his slender fingers covered her waist, he held her chin and kissed her lips.
The warm medicinal broth flowed down her throat into her stomach, accompanied by a damp, cold breath that twined around the tip of her nose.
Her bloodless cheeks gradually flushed, taking on a rose‑juice‑like red that bloomed across her snow‑white skin.
Jiang Zhi lay limp against his embrace.
Today Li Wu was somewhat abnormal, not as gentle as before, full of a possessive urge, obsessed and fervent.
As she was about to faint, that kiss did not cease.
The sound that fell beside her ears, suppressed by emotion, became both sexy and low‑murmured.
"I won't let you leave me again, Zhizhi."
