Chapter 28: Baini Ascends a Tier
Baini Ascends a Tier
Getting closer and closer, growing larger and larger, it was an extremely bright golden-yellow; it was a strand of grass made of something unknown.
It moved in front of him, brushed against his eyes, and then instantly, it turned into specks of light and entered his body.
A feeling of fullness and comfort poured into his limbs and bones, the pain in his body eased, and that strange sensation flowed through his body just like that.
Finally, the power within him surged, and a blue-white light bloomed, "Mm—"
He groaned uncontrollably, opened his eyes as if in a dream, and was full of disbelief, "I... I think I've ascended a tier."
"Really?" Chaosheng raised her eyebrows slightly, not expecting the Pu Ti Grass to be so effective, then as if thinking of something, she asked, "What about the wound?"
"Does the wound still hurt?"
"Um..." Baini hesitated for a moment, then said pitifully, "It still hurts."
"Sheng, I might need to recuperate for a few more days."
"Alright." Chaosheng didn't think much of it; she didn't understand this kind of poison, nor did she know what Baini's current situation was, "Then you rest well."
After a long while, Yinxu returned.
He threw a large bundle of fish in front of Baini, "I know it's not enough, but eat something first."
The bundle of fish was almost as tall as the cave entrance, and Yinxu had to drag and pull for a long time before he could get them inside; most of the fish had been struck on the head and were knocked unconscious, while a few rare ones that had slipped through the net were still jumping about.
Chaosheng was startled, looking at the fish that were like a small mountain, and muttered to herself, this isn't enough?
This would be enough for her to eat for several months.
She had always known that Yinxu and Baini ate a lot, but she never had a concrete concept of it until now, seeing it concretized in front of her, she knew how terrifying the appetites of her two Beast Husbands were.
"Thanks." Baini didn't stand on ceremony; he had been through a lot all day and was indeed hungry.
These fish were not many, barely enough for him to fill his stomach.
"Yinxu, do you know? Baini's ability has leveled up!"
Chaosheng happily shared this good news with Yinxu.
"Oh, is that so?" Yinxu responded indifferently, his eyes cold, "Did it level up because of that Pu Ti Grass of yours?"
"Yes." Chaosheng answered without hesitation.
Baini twitched his ears; no matter how he listened, it sounded a bit harsh, as if he couldn't have reached the Sixth Tier without that grass.
But with his mouth stuffed with the fish he had brought back, he took a fierce bite to vent his anger and decided to pretend he hadn't heard it.
Yinxu chuckled, his cold voice carrying a hint of seduction, "Then has the wound on Baini's body healed?"
Chaosheng shook her head regretfully, "Not yet."
"The toxicity of the Shelan Grass Poison is too strong."
"Heh!" Yinxu chuckled again, glancing at Baini with deep eyes.
Baini suddenly felt a chill down his back, his gaze fixed, "!"
Then he turned his head and signaled hard with his eyes: Don't say it!
Yinxu turned his eyes away, though he didn't say anything, and the gaze that fell on the little Mermaid became gentle, "Sheng."
"Hm? What is it?" Chaosheng tilted her head, her eyes clean and innocent, like the purest dew in the early morning.
Yinxu curled his lips slightly, a hint of a smile flashing in his eyes, "Nothing."
After Baini finished eating, he wiped his mouth and let out a breath of relief.
Today was truly not easy; he had brushed shoulders with death.
Chaosheng stared at him intently and finally asked the question that had been bothering her for a long time, "Baini, what exactly happened today?"
"Why did Lianxun want to hurt you?"
Although Chaosheng would definitely stand on her Beast Husband's side without reason, Lianxun couldn't be crazy enough to stab Baini for no reason.
Baini's eyes paused, recalling his dispute with Lianxun in the morning, and he pulled his lips helplessly, "Sigh!"
"This is my fault."
"Originally, I wanted to go and make things clear to my sister, to let her not let Lianxun come and disturb me in the future."
"I don't participate in the internal struggles of the Tribe."
"Then..." Baini's eyes darkened, as if speaking of an enemy, "that lowly Beastman ran over."
"He said that since my sister and I are siblings born of the same mother and father, we should help each other."
"Only when my sister becomes the Leader of the Tribe can I have something to rely on."
"I was a bit angry at the time; Mother is still here, and he's already thinking about my sister becoming the Leader? What kind of scheme is he playing? Who doesn't know?"
"Then, I told him that my affairs don't need to be managed by a short-sighted Beastman like him."
"I have high talent for abilities, and my Mate..." Baini said, feeling a bit embarrassed, and under Chaosheng's gaze, his voice dropped low, "my Mate also likes me; I don't need to rely on the Tribe."
"I told him to mind his own business."
"It is already a mercy that Mother let a useless Krill Orc like you become my sister's Beast Husband."
"After I finished speaking, his expression changed, and then..." Baini paused, as if realizing his mistake, and felt a bit self-reproachful, "I didn't hold back at the time and told him to be careful and not to implicate my sister."
"If he implicated my sister, then he would truly have no great backing like the Tribe."
"Then he glared at me, rushed up, and used a blade of grass to slash my neck."
"He ran away after slashing me, and then my sister went out chasing after him."
"I clutched my neck, felt my head getting heavier and heavier, and then I passed out."
"I vaguely heard Bailang's voice."
"So it was Bailang who found you?" Chaosheng thought of that cute Orca and curled her lips, "Then you must thank him properly."
"This poison is very powerful; if no Beastman had found you, you might have really been gone."
"Luckily, luckily!" Baini also breathed a sigh of relief, looking at Chaosheng with eyes full of affection, "It was all thanks to Sheng; without Sheng, even if I had been found, I would have been beyond saving."
Chaosheng's face warmed slightly, and she lowered her head in embarrassment.
Yinxu, however, pondered some points of suspicion, "The Shelan Grass was given to Lianxun by Xizhi; how could she be so certain that Lianxun would use it on you?"
"Moreover, Lianxun might not recognize the Shelan Grass, but Leader Bai, Baiqi, and those Sea Beastmen in the Jingju Tribe would certainly recognize it."
"If Lianxun hadn't used it yet and was discovered by them, wouldn't Xizhi's actions be a case of the loss outweighing the gain?"
"The Whale Shark Tribe and the Jingju Tribe do not have a fatal feud, so why must Xizhi target the Jingju Tribe like this?"
Chaosheng pursed her lips, her eyes showing displeasure, "Forget about her."
"Regarding this matter with Baini, I will not let it go with her."
"When Baini is feeling better, we will go find trouble for her together."
"Good!" Baini also nodded in agreement; he could not suffer in vain and would definitely get it back from those Beastmen, a hint of ruthlessness flashing in his black eyes.
Yinxu smiled faintly and said nothing, even though Sheng and the Mad Shark Tribe had conflicts, and a female of the Mad Shark Tribe was now betrothed to Xizhi's younger brother.
But from what she knew of Xizhi, she was not such an irrational female, and would not use such a damaging trick to deal with the Jingju Tribe over a matter like this.
