Chapter 45: Honglianlian Comes to the Door to Ask for Help
Honglianlian comes to the door to ask for help.
"Um... hello there."
Honglianlian rubs her head, looking awkwardly at the frost-faced Beastman before her.
She had intended to come find that beautiful Mermaid, but who knew such a massive gatekeeper would be guarding the place.
Yinxu looks coldly at this strange female, his eyes containing a hint of scrutiny and vigilance.
"Ha!" Honglianlian lets out an awkward laugh, inwardly slandering him fiercely: can't this Beastman talk? Is he a mute?
However, she still suppresses her temper and asks nicely: "Um... I'm here to find Chaosheng, is she in?"
Hearing the little Mermaid's name, Yinxu's eyes flicker slightly; he casts a cold, chilling glance at her and says indifferently: "She is not."
Honglianlian: "..."
You've got to be kidding me?
She came here specifically this early and still couldn't catch the little Mermaid?
What is she doing going out so early? Foraging?
She looks at Yinxu with slight anger and disdain, her lips moving slightly: trash, having to let a female go get her own food!
"Mmm~"
With a soft moan, a beautiful female slowly sits up in the white Shell Bed; her loose, long purple hair hangs down like seaweed, and the Mermaid Female's slightly lazy voice carries a faint hint of allure.
A large purple tail pops out of the Shell Bed, its scales plump and glistening like fine jewels, the tip of the tail landing slowly in a beautiful arc.
Chaosheng, having been woken up, looks dazed, her face still sleepy as she asks lazily: "Who is it?"
"It's me, it's me!"
Honglianlian grins and answers happily.
"Oh." Chaosheng clears her head, her eyelids half-drooped and unable to open fully, as a red shadow appears in her line of sight.
Plus this voice.
Is it that female?!
"Wait a moment, I'll be out right away."
A cave is a very private place for a Beastman, not to mention that Baini is still sleeping next to Chaosheng.
She cannot invite a strange female inside.
So she has no choice but to go out.
"Alright, alright!" Honglianlian replies happily to Chaosheng, looking at Yinxu with a triumphant expression: damn Beastman, still dared to lie to her!
Look, isn't she seeing Chaosheng now?
Honglianlian stands at the cave entrance with her hands on her hips, her eyes secretly peeking into the cave.
She heard the Mermaid Female was driven here at the time, and yet she is still living here now.
She doesn't even change to a better place.
Thinking of this, she glares fiercely at Yinxu, who is sitting at the cave entrance with his legs bent, "Hmph!"
"..." Yinxu silently turns his back, his gentle eyes looking at the little Mermaid sitting blankly on the Shell Bed, an irrepressible smile rippling in the depths of his eyes.
After her morning grumpiness fades a little, Chaosheng tidies her messy hair and slowly swims over.
"Is there something you need from me?"
"I..." As soon as the main person arrives, Honglianlian becomes somewhat hesitant, completely lacking the arrogance and triumph she had when facing Yinxu earlier, "Um... I'd like to ask you for a favor."
"?" Helping? Chaosheng looks at her in confusion and asks, "What kind of help?"
"It's Aian, the Leader of the War Shark Tribe; she got into a fight with Xizhi earlier and was beaten into a critical state, she's dying now..."
As Honglianlian speaks, she lowers her head with a guilty conscience, "I was thinking, don't you know how to save people? Can you save her?"
After she finishes speaking, she doesn't dare to look into Chaosheng's eyes at all, her eyeballs darting left and right, staring intently at a bump on the cave floor.
She had heard earlier that Aian had fought with Xizhi, so she went over with good intentions, wanting to share the news of Xizhi's death with them and be happy together.
But after she got there, she found out that Xizhi had beaten Aian into a critical state that day, and Aian was still unconscious; how could they be in the mood to celebrate that?
Her head was hot at the time, and she thought of Chaosheng; she truly felt that Chaosheng was omnipotent. She had only mentioned killing Xizhi to her last time, and it hadn't even been two days before Xizhi died.
So she very righteously said she would go get Chaosheng to help, and that she would definitely be able to save Aian.
On the way here, she only then remembered that there was no news saying Chaosheng could heal wounds.
She had only heard before that she could purify the Mental Sea and save Baini, who had been poisoned by Shelan Grass Poison.
Aian was beaten by Xizhi until her internal organs were shattered; finding Chaosheng probably wouldn't be any use.
"If it's not possible..." Honglianlian says, conflicted, at worst she would just go explain to the Beastmen of the War Shark Tribe again, and go beg her mother to let her borrow the Tribe's veterinarian.
"I can."
As the words fall softly, Honglianlian lifts her head as if she has been redeemed, looking at her in surprise, "Really?"
"Mm." Chaosheng nods.
"My god, that's great!" Honglianlian is so happy she wants to hug Chaosheng and spin her around, but just as she reaches out and is about to touch Chaosheng.
She feels a deathly gaze shoot toward her nonchalantly; she looks, and it's Yinxu's terrifyingly cold ice-blade face.
Honglianlian rolls her eyes silently; forget it, she's happy right now, she won't bicker with him.
However, she still honestly keeps a distance that is neither too far nor too close from Chaosheng, her naive face full of flattery, "My god, I knew you were the best!"
"You have no idea how miserably Aian was beaten by that vicious female Xizhi."
"I went to take a look, she's almost dead, just hanging on by a thread thanks to their Tribe's veterinarian."
"Fighting with Xizhi?" Chaosheng keenly catches the two keywords, a flash of doubt crossing her amethyst-like eyes, "Isn't Xizhi already dead?"
"Oh!" Honglianlian cries out in annoyance; how did she forget to mention the time! A look of apology crosses her face as she hurriedly explains to Chaosheng, "It was the night before Xizhi died."
"She scratched Xizhi's face, and Xizhi beat her into this state."
Chaosheng narrowed her eyes, her memory tracing back to that night when she saw Xizhi; one side of her face was indeed smeared with herbal juice and was a bloody mess.
Thinking of this, Chaosheng became a little interested, a smile curling on her lips, "Fine, I will go with you to take a look."
"If it is possible, I will do my best to save her."
"Great!"
Chaosheng turned around, a trace of unnaturalness flashing in her eyes as she looked at Yinxu, a faint, barely visible flush rising on her pale white face.
"Yinxu, I'm leaving now."
"Take good care of Baini."
Yinxu's gaze remained fixed on Chaosheng's voice; when Chaosheng looked over, she met those beautiful purple eyes directly, a smile as soft as water rising in the depths of her eyes, her crimson tongue lightly licking her thin lips, hinting at an ambiguous atmosphere.
Thump!
Chaosheng's heartbeat skipped a beat; she cast an annoyed, bashful glance at Yinxu, then turned to Honglianlian and said, "Let's go."
"Mm-hmm." Honglianlian was thick-skinned and completely failed to notice the unique atmosphere between them, still immersed in her own excitement, her little mouth chattering away, "Let me tell you, you have no idea how happy we were when we found out Xizhi was dead!"
"Our Tribe wished we could sing and celebrate on Ice Island every single day!"
"Come to think of it, Aian is also a pitiful one; her personality and mine don't match, so we couldn't get along."
"But this time, the two of us are in the same boat."
"..."
