Chapter 68: Caught
Caught you.
Just kidding, I didn't eat it.
Yinxu didn't even know what kind of temper he was throwing today; he tried hard to persuade himself that Chaosheng was not in the wrong, and that he shouldn't be acting so foolishly.
"Fine."
Yinxu thought Chaosheng had given up on feeding him; everything had gone according to his own words, yet Yinxu felt even more unhappy.
His deep brown eyes were dark as water, staring fixedly at these few grilled fish.
Chaosheng's slightly lowered tone shifted, an inexplicable light flashing in her eyes as the corners of her mouth curled into a faint smile, "But I remember you being quite a big eater, aren't you?"
"Eating a few more wouldn't hurt, would it?"
Chaosheng placed the fish into Yinxu's arms; the residual heat traveled from the thin beast-hide clothing onto his skin, and Yinxu's heart, which had sunk deep, felt as if it had been lifted back up.
"By the way, I still don't know what you like to eat?" Chaosheng tilted her head, looking at Yinxu, a faint smile rippling across her clear, charming face, "When you advance in rank, how about I grant you a wish?"
Yinxu's breathing stalled slightly; he stared blankly at the grilled fish in his arms, his thin lips softly exhaling a single word: "Okay."
……
After Baini finished all the fish, he lay leisurely on the Ice Shore, his round black eyes no longer weary, but instead filled with a spirit capable of conquering the world.
"Whoosh!"
The seawater splashed twice, the surface broke, and a pointed, round head poked out, "Why are you all here?"
"I've been looking for you for so long and couldn't find you!"
Baian grumbled with dissatisfaction; he moved his head, sniffing the aroma lingering in the air, his black eyes becoming much clearer, *Hmm! What is that? *
It smells so good.
"What are you here for?"
After Baini saw who it was, he continued to lie comfortably on the Ice Shore, answering nonchalantly.
"Mother sent me to find you."
"Lianxun and Sister have already been caught."
Actually, they had caught Lianxun during the night; they had originally intended to keep him locked up first, and wait until daytime to summon Chaosheng and Baini before punishing him.
Who knew that Baiqi would secretly let Lianxun go, intending to elope with him, and then after another round of chaos, they finally caught the eloping Baiqi and Lianxun.
Upon hearing this, Baini sat up abruptly, his clear, resonant voice high-spirited, "Sheng!"
"Lianxun has been caught!"
"Mother wants us to return to the Tribe!"
Caught? So fast?
Chaosheng was dazed for only a moment, then thought it was about time.
The strength of the Jingju Tribe was not for nothing.
She called out softly: "Yinxu, let's go!"
"Okay."
……
Behind the familiar coral reef, all the Beastmen stood perfectly aligned, not daring to move a muscle, terrified of being implicated by the wrath of their Leader.
The atmosphere in this small patch of sea was depressingly heavy; almost no fish dared to pass through.
It was quiet and still; with so many Beastmen standing together, not a single extra sound was made.
"Mo... Mother, Brother and the others are here."
After returning to the Tribe's territory, Baian became much more disciplined, obediently shifting into his human form to come to Bailang's side.
When Baipei saw Chaosheng in the middle, a gentle smile curled onto her stern face, "Sheng is here."
Her slightly flat voice carried a hint of strain; Baipei really wasn't in the mood to smile right now.
Her gaze fell on Chaosheng for a moment, then on Baini, then on the other Beastmen.
She simply refused to look at the very center.
On the sandy ground in the very center, two familiar Beastmen were kneeling.
Baiqi hung her head with a gray, defeated expression, her whole body disheveled and numb.
Lianxun beside her was much more miserable; not only did he have multiple small wounds on his body, he was also bleeding, and that delicate, feminine face of his had been slashed with a large gash—the wound was fresh and still oozing blood.
His mouth was stuffed with a bundle of seaweed, and "woo-woo" sounds emanated from his throat.
Chaosheng glanced at these two Beastmen, then the corners of her mouth curled into a smile, "Mother, I want to tell you some good news."
"What?" Baipei asked; to her right now, what could possibly be called good news?!
Chaosheng pulled Baini to her side, her voice lively, "Mother, Baini is now a Seventh-tier Beastman."
?!
Seventh Tier?!
In an instant, after a deathly silence, the surrounding Beastmen immediately began to whisper to each other.
"Sev... Seventh Tier?"
"Am I deaf?"
"This must be the first Seventh-tier Beastman in the Polar Sea."
Even Baiqi, who was kneeling on the ground, raised her head in disbelief, looking at Baini with incredulity; beside her, Lianxun's "woo-woo" sounds grew louder, his eyes looking at Baini with resentment.
Baini stood beside Chaosheng, proudly puffing out his chest, enjoying the astonishment and admiration of these Beastmen with great satisfaction.
From this day forward, he was the most powerful Beastman in the Polar Sea.
"Is... is it true?" Baipei was so shocked she couldn't speak smoothly; Seventh Tier?!
"Mm."
Receiving Chaosheng's affirmative reply, Baipei's dark eyes grew moist, vaguely shimmering with tears, "Good, good."
"You are worthy of being my son."
Niying, this is our child.
I did not dote on him in vain.
"Mother, let me tell you..." Baini's handsome face was full of excitement, and he spoke impatiently, "This is all thanks to Sheng, if it weren't for her... ah!"
The soft flesh on his waist was pinched painfully, and Baini looked at Chaosheng with grievance, his eyes filled with resentment.
It hurts so much, why is Sheng's hand so heavy?
Chaosheng gave him a sharp look without any politeness, then took over the conversation and replied to Baipei: "It is all because I took good care of him during this time."
"Baini's talent is indeed very powerful and excellent; I really didn't expect him to rank up again so quickly."
"Mother, you don't know that Baini has been so fond of sleeping during this time; it was all to prepare for this rank-up!"
After Baini returned last time, he told Baipei that he had reached the Sixth Tier, but Baipei, considering that Baini had just been poisoned and his body must be damaged, did not make it public and only told these children of hers.
Hearing this, Baipei revealed a sincere smile, looking at her most beloved child with gratification, "Yes, yes, as long as he is safe, that is good."
The Beastmen of the Jingju Tribe around them were still whispering and discussing, their amazed gazes landing on Baini; they had already seen him for nearly twenty years, yet it was as if they were seeing him for the first time, looking just like they were observing some incredible treasure.
Seventh Tier!
They had only heard that there were such legendary Beastmen in other sea areas.
They never expected that their Polar Sea would have one too, and it was a Beastman they spent every day with!?
Baipei restrained her emotions, pulled Chaosheng and Baini to her side, and her gaze fell upon the two kneeling Beastmen, cold and indifferent, "Alright, now let us deal with your affairs."
"Go, take the seaweed out of his mouth."
"Wait a moment, I want to hear the sound of him screaming in pain."
Bailang stepped out first, one hand firmly gripping Lianxun's head, the other pinching his chin to keep his mouth from closing, shaking it up and down to make him spit out the seaweed.
"Cough, cough!"
