Chapter 40: The Might of Dragon Breath, The End of the Rat

~9 min read 1,702 words

The stars and moon gradually faded, and the night curtain shrouded the sea like a black veil; a warship sailed slowly, its dazzling lights piercing the darkness.

"Damn it, I was planning to come over and squeeze some oil out of them, but I ran into a robbery case instead. Those are nobles, are these pirates tired of living?" In the warship's captain's office, Lao Shu threw the Den Den Mushi aside and cursed.

"Colonel, what should we do next?" a Sergeant asked.

"What should we do? Of course, we just go through the motions. Do you really want to fight those pirates?" Lao Shu said irritably: "Just turn around a couple of times and stay far away from the pirate ship. I don't know who they are yet, but anyone who dares to rob nobles must have some strength. I'm not stupid enough to go head-to-head with them."

Then his whiskers twitched, and he leered: "However, those women they sent me recently are actually quite nice. They're still at the base now; I'll have to have a good taste of them later, hehe."

"Um, Colonel, there are so many in this batch, can you spare one for me?" the Sergeant asked, his face full of anticipation.

"Get lost! Can't you go find one yourself at Huan Le Jie? These are my things, you want to fight me for them?" Lao Shu's eyes were cold.

"No, no, no, I was just joking, please don't be angry." The Sergeant hurriedly waved his hands.

"Hmph, get out of my sight. The longer the night, the more dreams; we'll just go through the motions and leave," Lao Shu grunted.

"Report, a pirate ship has appeared ahead!" At this moment, a voice suddenly sounded from outside the door.

"What?!"

Lao Shu hurriedly stood up, thinking, *Damn it, why am I so unlucky? * As his whiskers trembled, he pondered a countermeasure, and before long, he hurriedly picked up the Den Den Mushi to contact his Navy colleagues patrolling the nearby waters.

The Den Den Mushi call ended, and he walked out with the Sergeant. His subordinate hurriedly continued to report: "Colonel, it is, it is the flag of the Blood Calamity Pirates!"

Lao Shu felt a shock in his heart instantly. He picked up his binoculars and happened to lock eyes with Luo Di, who was standing on the dragon head looking excited.

"Bring the ship closer!" Luo Di shouted.

"A mere warship, and they dare to clash with us?" Lin De Bo Ge adjusted his goggles and curled his lips: "Captain, I want to try the Dragon Breath Cannon."

The Dragon Breath Cannon was the cylinder in the dragon's mouth at the bow; it hadn't been used once since they boarded this ship.

Luo Di nodded and jumped onto the deck: "Come on, let me see its power."

"Received!" Lin De Bo Ge's eyes showed excitement; he quickly darted into the research lab on the first basement level, found the angle, and pressed the switch.

"Colonel, should we fire the cannons?" On the warship, the Sergeant beside Lao Shu asked.

"Fire your mother! Hurry and turn the rudder to the right, full speed away from them!" Lao Shu roared.

The helmsmen hurriedly turned the rudder. Lao Shu tremblingly picked up his binoculars; he had already seen the Bounty, and even the Pangolin had been killed by the Blood Calamity one. What difference was there between him going up there and throwing his life away?

This sea area was also his jurisdiction. It was usually calm, and he mostly roamed around other islands, only coming over when there was trouble. The Straw Hat Pirates who caused a ruckus in the East Blue last time didn't come here either; they sailed directly from the Oikot Kingdom to Luo Ge Zhen and didn't cross paths with him.

Today, he had returned to the 16th Branch base from other islands and originally intended to just go through the motions of patrolling, but who would have thought a big one would come along so suddenly.

Wasn't this going to cost him his rat life?

In the view of Lao Shu's binoculars, the cylinder at the bow of the Shen Yun Long Ting Hao suddenly gathered points of light, which were particularly dazzling in the pitch-black night. In an instant, a beam of light energy sprayed out from the cylinder, obscuring his vision.

Boom!

The Dragon Breath Cannon hit the warship precisely. A large hole was blasted directly into the bow of the warship, and debris splattered across the deck. In Lao Shu's stunned eyes, the keel snapped with a *crack*, and the warship began to sink slowly.

"Quick, quick, launch the lifeboats!" Lao Shu shouted in panic.

The Navy soldiers fell over in all directions, and seeing the dragon ship getting closer and closer, most of them jumped directly into the sea.

"It's no use, it's too late!" the Sergeant shouted: "Colonel, hurry and call for reinforcements!"

"You lot, quick, go up there and block them for me!" Lao Shu's whiskers stood straight up, his heart trembling with fear.

Splash!

The other officers jumped into the sea one after another.

Soon, only Lao Shu was left on the ship. These Navy soldiers and officers had followed Lao Shu for a long time; usually, when Lao Shu ate meat, they drank the soup, and they were well-versed in Lao Shu's "cowardly justice."

"You, you lot." Lao Shu gritted his teeth and said hatefully: "Come back here!"

"Holy crap, this cannon shot is too fierce. I, A Nuo, admire you; I'm willing to call you the Cannon King!" On the deck, A Nuo gave Lin De Bo Ge a thumbs up.

Lin De Bo Ge said proudly: "Of course, I designed this myself. It just consumes too much energy; it can't fire many shots. After we go to the Grand Line, I'll use better materials to improve it."

"Luo Di, how should we deal with those Navy soldiers in the sea?" Gai Ou asked.

"Cutting grass, of course, requires removing the roots. Go ahead, this is your home turf," Luo Di replied.

Gai Ou's fighting spirit surged immediately, and he dove headfirst into the sea. The Navy soldiers sped up their swimming when they saw him, but it was clearly futile in front of a Fish-Man.

"Fish-Man Karate: Sea Tornado!"

The seawater suddenly churned and swirled. The Navy soldiers were dragged into it, their bodies constantly spurting blood before being dissolved by the seawater.

"Not bad, Fish-Man kid," Lin De Bo Ge praised.

Luo Di stood at the bow and crooked his finger at the desperate Lao Shu opposite. Lao Shu's desire to survive surged, and he wanted to dive into the sea, but seeing the Navy soldiers being shredded by Gai Ou one by one, he stopped in his tracks.

"Your path ends here."

As soon as Luo Di finished speaking, Lao Shu was lifted up by Star Platinum.

In the eyes of others, Lao Shu dangled in the air, flying all the way to the deck of the Shen Yun Long Ting Hao, then suddenly landed in front of Luo Di, rolled twice on the ground, and was stopped by Luo Di's foot.

The pirates gathered around one after another.

"This guy is Lao Shu. He used to go to Xiu Mao Gang often; he's Hanke's protector," Xiao En said.

"Cough, cough, that hurt like hell." Lao Shu looked at Luo Di, his face full of terror: "Captain, please just let me go like a fart. I'll tell the higher-ups that we encountered a shipwreck; otherwise, the crime of destroying a warship is very serious."

Bang!

Luo Di kicked him in the head, sending him spinning across the deck. When he hit the other side, Gai Ou stepped on him. Lao Shu cried out in pain, "Ah, ah! Spare my life, spare my life! I still have quite a bit of savings at the 16th Branch base, and many beautiful women, all for you to enjoy, Master. Please let me go!"

Hearing this, Ka Li Na frowned slightly, walked up, raised her high-heeled foot, and stepped down onto Lao Shu's face.

He actually dared to tempt Luo Di? Didn't he know he was a lecher?

Bang, bang, bang.

Lao Shu was stepped on until he was dizzy. After Ka Li Na's anger subsided, Luo Di said to the crew: "Does anyone else here recognize him?"

"Captain Luo Di!"

At this moment, a young crew member walked out and said hatefully: "This animal previously colluded with Hanke to rape my sister. Later, when my parents went to the shipyard to demand an explanation, my father was killed, and after my mother returned... after she returned, she committed suicide!"

Looking at the crew member whose eyes were red and who was hiding monstrous rage, Luo Di patted his shoulder: "I killed Hanke for you; you handle this one."

"Thank you, Captain Luo Di." The young crew member nodded, drew a dagger from his waist, and slowly walked toward Lao Shu.

"Hey, I didn't mean it, that was all Hanke's idea, I didn't even touch your sister, it was all Hanke, don't kill me!" At the critical moment of life and death, Lao Shu begged for mercy incessantly.

"Go repent in hell!" After the young crew member finished speaking, the dagger slashed across Lao Shu's neck.

Lao Shu clutched his neck and twitched continuously, his palms soaked bright red with blood; he had acted like a tyrant in the East Blue for many years, but he had finally reached his end.

Gai Ou quickly finished off all the navy, and after he returned, Luo Di looked at Ka Li Na: "Where is the 16th Branch?"

Ka Li Na pointed to the southwest: "It's in the opposite direction of Luo Ge Zhen, about 50 nautical miles from here."

"Forget it, let's go straight to Luo Ge Zhen."

After Luo Di finished speaking, he looked at the pitch-black sky; the warship had already completely sunk.

The stars and moon had been completely obscured, strong winds whipped up giant waves, and several streaks of purple lightning flashed through the clouds, as if a massive thunderstorm were brewing.
