Chapter 16

This teleportation portal leads to Shen Yuan Shijie.

In the game's background story, Shen Yuan Shijie is a force that stands opposed to the 'Gods'.

The 'Gods' mainly consist of 24 major deities, corresponding to 24 main cities.

And beneath the Abyss, there are many 'Demonic Gods', whose strength is equally formidable.

According to information summarized by some players on the previous game forum, Shen Yuan Shijie should be a map suitable for levels 150–250 to explore, with a minimum of level 100 required to dare enter, otherwise one is likely to die instantly.

But Xiao Feng is no ordinary player!

With such a large teleportation portal sitting before him, slowly closing, he felt that if he didn't rush in to explore, the loss would be quite great!

Besides, he didn't have any particularly valuable items on him; even if he died once after entering, it would only cost him a bit of experience, and he wouldn't drop anything worthwhile.

Thinking this, he took out the Legendary item 【Abyssal Monster Essence】, gripped it in his left palm, held his staff in his right hand, took a few quick steps forward, and plunged into the portal.

Whoosh—

The teleportation portal closed, the instance map was reclaimed by the system, and vanished directly.

And Xiao Feng's vision turned into a sheet of darkness.

After a full several seconds, light slowly returned.

"Ding—You have entered Shen Yuan Shijie!"

"Tip: Suppressed by Abyssal power, all healing effects are reduced by 50%, and your attack power is reduced by 10%."

Before he could even make out his surroundings, Xiao Feng felt his body weaken, his attack power dropping from just over 200 to 180.

Ding ding

Clang clang

Cough cough

Some sounds came from around, and a bluish-purple hue filled his view.

"Another mine."

Xiao Feng glanced around and realized he was still in an underground mine.

Unlike the silver mine, there are no torches for lighting here.

But the surrounding ore is not silver; it is magic crystal, emitting a faint blue light.

Mixed in are some purple high‑quality magic crystals, splendid and gorgeous.

Several miners kept swinging their pickaxes, producing crisp digging sounds.

But some were constantly coughing, obviously not in good health.

Xiao Feng checked one miner's information.

【Magic Crystal Miner—Jeffrey】

Level: 50

HP: 35000/35000

Attack: 160

Physical Defense: 40

Magic Defense: 40

Skills: 【Mining Technique】, 【Pharmacy Technique】

This miner is a human, his stats are lower than Luo Fu Luo's, and he has no mage skills.

Crackle!

Before Xiao Feng could check others' stats, a sharp whip‑crack sound came from ahead.

At the same time a sharp, thin curse rang out: "You lowly humans, no slacking! Get to work seriously, whoever dares to slack I'll whip!"

Following the sound, I saw a thin little demon with purplish‑black skin all over, 1.2 meters tall, swinging a long whip at a frail old miner.

【Demon Overseer (Elite Monster)】

Level: 100

HP: 120000/120000

(Target level too high, unable to acquire more data)

"I can't stand it when others act arrogant in front of me."

Xiao Feng curled his lip and raised his hand, firing a magic missile.

"Ga!"

The demon took the hit, nearly 2 million damage popped up, and it died on the spot.

"Ah, what happened?"

The miners exclaimed one by one, finding the demon leader dead, utterly bewildered.

But they soon noticed an adventurer had appeared nearby.

"Ah, warrior, are you sent by the Gods to save us?" Miner Jeffrey ran over excitedly, grabbing Xiao Feng's arm, his eyes brimming with hot tears.

"Warrior, warrior~"

"Please save us, we've been trapped here for months, wuu wuu wuu~"

The NPC miners each cried out, looking utterly pitiful.

"Um... what place is this? Are the Abyssal monsters outside strong?" Xiao Feng asked.

The map showed he was now in Shen Yuan Shijie.

But it didn't give a specific place name, obviously the information is incomplete.

Miner Jeffrey replied: "This is the magic crystal mine of the Abyssal demons; their tunnels have pierced the veins, intersecting with our silver mine. We were captured miners, forced to work for them. If we don't work, they'll throw us into the blood pool of the Abyssal Lord 'Lamaka', leaving no corpse intact!"

As he spoke, snot and tears streamed down, the more miserable, the more miserable.

「Digging through... 」

Xiao Feng pursed his lips.

If you really dug through, you wouldn't need a portal; a large number of monsters would directly charge onto the surface and have a deathmatch with Stormwind City.

Obviously this is just the plot of a hidden quest; the portal is not permanently open, it requires meeting conditions to open, to bring the miners back.

"What level boss is that Lamaka Lord?" Xiao Feng asked.

Lamaka, Samaka, they sound similar; they're probably the same kind of monster, maybe even brothers.

Jeffrey shook his head and said: "We don't know either; he's too strong, many of our brothers have been eaten by him. Warrior, please help us, we really have no way out~"

"Alright, you stay here for now, I'll go check it out." Xiao Feng nodded.

Although the system gave no quest prompt, he felt this should be a quest, and a hidden one at that, the reward should be generous!

"If you walk along the mine tunnel outward and open the iron fence, you'll see many monsters; over there they also imprison a strong person from the human world, warrior you can rescue them, they'll help you!" Jeffrey reminded.

"Oh? That's even better, thanks." Xiao Feng said happily.

He walked into the mine tunnel, heading toward the exit.

Along the way there were some imp overseers wandering, supervising the human miners' work.

He used magic missiles to snipe them from afar; the imps didn't even have time to send a report before dying on the spot.

Thus the journey was quiet, not attracting large numbers of monsters.

Soon, Xiao Feng arrived before an iron fence.

This iron fence is a terrain lock, blocking his path forward.

Xiao Feng tried pulling it, but couldn't open it.

The system prompted: Opening this door by force requires 500 strength points.

Xiao Feng was instantly speechless.

His strength was only 38 points; even using all his might he couldn't pull it.

"Magic missile!"

He tried throwing a skill, hoping to smash it open.

The missile sank like a stone in the sea, causing not a ripple.

Obviously this iron fence is different from the previous magic crystal pool; it's not a destructible structure.

"Looks like we can only wait for the imps to open the door..."

He had no choice but to stay put.

After a few minutes, two 1.4-meter-tall imp leaders walked over from outside; one of them cursed, saying: "Damn granny, it's just a broken-down mage, ugly and thin, only level 130 dares to act tough in front of us! If it weren't for the princess ordering him to be her male consort, we'd have eaten him alive!"

The other echoed: "Exactly, what's there to act about. Moreover, it's really excessive; the princess is the most beautiful flower of our Abyss, yet she doesn't look at our handsome guys but instead fell for an ugly human mage—it's like a flower stuck in cow dung!"

Clatter!

The imp leader unlocked the lock and pushed open the iron fence.

"Damn it, let's grab a few human miners to vent our anger; we want to eat three alive!"

The imp leader on the left snarled.

They turned around, preparing to go deep into the mine to capture people.

But suddenly they saw an extremely ugly human face appear before them.

"Ah,"

Sizzle!

The imp leader was about to speak when a lightning chain struck from afar, directly chaining both of them.

-4.3 million damage floated up; the two imp leaders were instantly turned to ash, leaving no corpses.

... but it left behind 10 gold coins.

"This imp is pretty rich." Xiao Feng picked up the gold coins, satisfied.

He walked out of the fence gate and continued exploring outward.

From outside came a stream of men's shouting and cursing, very fierce.

Xiao Feng listened carefully, his expression gradually turning strange.

"Could it be... that male mage who is to be forcibly taken as a son-in-law by the demon princess?"
