Chapter 1919: 3v3 Tournament Begins
A few days later, registration closed, the system released the statistics, and at the same time announced the full details of the competition format.
In the upper-left corner of every player's interface, a crossed sword and spear icon appeared; clicking it revealed all the information about the 3v3 tournament.
This tournament determines the final rankings in the preparation stage of the myriad races' hegemony struggle; the higher a warzone's rank, the richer its rewards, helping obtain key resources needed for the next stage, the 'Training Period'.
The tournament lasts three months total, with each month constituting a stage.
The first month is the 'Preliminary Round'; the competition intensity is high, each team must fight many matches every day, ultimately eliminating over 99% of the teams, leaving only the experts.
The second month is the 'Group Stage', using a points system; the teams that passed the preliminary round are divided into numerous groups for round-robin matches, and the top two teams by points advance to participate in the final stage's finals.
The finals still require a month of play, because the competition intensity has lowered, so there won't be as many matches each day, and there are actually not few teams—512 teams will participate in the final month's matches.
Xiao Feng was still making his way through the starry sky, riding on the back of a celestial crane, in his arms was a not-so-beautiful but extremely well-built fairy maiden.
The Snow Mountain Extreme Leopard led the way beside him, chatting intermittently with the ancestral god of the wild beast tribe.
After traveling together for over two months, Xiao Feng and the Snow Mountain Extreme Leopard had become friends, their relationship was good.
"Brother Leopard, recently something big is going to happen in the Adventurers' World; as a strongman of this region, I need to participate in the tournament, so I'm afraid I can't keep to the daily travel schedule."
Xiao Feng said.
The Snow Mountain Extreme Leopard replied, "It's fine; your tournament is arranged by the Supreme God, so it definitely takes priority. Besides, you won't run off—arriving late to the Ancestral Realm is no problem."
In fact, judging by Xiao Feng's pace of only twelve hours of walking per day, the previously mentioned three months are insufficient; at least five months are needed to get there.
This tournament has further delayed things, so we must calculate six months or more.
"Brother Leopard, you're really kind," Xiao Feng praised.
"Hmph… certainly, I am the highly respected elder of Star Realm Mountain; among the Three Great Venerables, my reputation and that of a few other elders are the best!" the Snow Mountain Extreme Leopard said proudly.
Xun Shuang Xianzi heard this, pursed the corners of her mouth, and held back her laughter.
Actually... it's definitely so foolish that's why everyone likes it!
"Huh? Is the match starting today?"
At that moment, Xiao Feng opened the tournament interface and saw that he had a schedule for today, and not just one match!
After the registration statistics ended, only six hours later the match was about to begin!
He hurried to check the specific details.
【Preparation Period 3v3 Tournament Schedule】
Your team: One God Carries Four Pits (members: Blind Archer, Xiao Feng, Xing Yun Miao, One Shield Slaps You to Death, Clear Wind Smoke Rain).
Your warzone: Number 1772 Zone.
Matches completed today: 0/10.
Total match record: 0/0.
Final win rate: No data yet.
Explanation: In the preliminary stage, each warzone has 1000 teams, with no duplicate teams within the same zone. During the 30 days of preliminaries, each team must be randomly matched with ten opponents to fight, and scores are calculated based on win/loss. After 30 days, teams with an overall win rate exceeding 90% will be promoted to
the group stage.
The entire preliminary round's rules are very simple: just divide over 26 million teams into over 2600 warzones for free matching.
Each day, accumulate ten matches in any time slot, maintain this for thirty consecutive days; as long as the total victories reach 270 or more, one can advance.
Each warzone has 1000 teams, for a total of 300 possible matches; many teams cannot find opponents. Although the 90% win‑rate requirement is high, considering there are over twenty million teams in the whole zone, being strict is understandable.
"Are you leaving now?" the Snow Mountain Extreme Leopard asked.
Xiao Feng shook his head slightly: "Not that fast; I'll first discuss with my teammates."
Six hours later the preliminary stage officially begins; today is the first day.
In the game, 'today' still has eighteen hours left, meaning they can play at any time within twelve hours after the start, as long as they complete a total of ten matches.
He had just seen the tournament description when the friend chat notification sounded.
It came from a small group of only five people—him, Jiang Ning, and the four other girls, namely the members of this tournament's team.
Jiang Ning asked: "Brother Xiao Feng, when should we start matching?"
"You're the captain, you decide," Xiao Feng replied.
He is a lazybones, leaving all regional affairs to others to handle; when Shen Di helped with registration, the team captain filled in was not him, but 'Blind Archer'.
Jiang Ning, upon hearing that, said: "Alright, after the start we four will go queue first; you keep busy with your serious matters—with our four's strength, doing the preliminaries is no problem."
"Hmm, that's fine,
"I'll play when I have time, and when I'm not around you can take my place." Xiao Feng had no objection to this.
A team has five players; the two extra substitutes are used exactly like this—when a mainstay can't free himself or goes offline, they can step in.
"Leave it to us, senior—go ahead and flirt with your fairy maiden, try to win her over soon!" Dun Dun's cute voice sounded in the group chat.
Xiao Feng said helplessly: "Why are you so eager about this? She's your love rival, you know."
Dun Dun giggled: "I have no love rival at all; you're just a mere training dummy!"
"That's going too far—I'll give you double the punishment when I get back!" Xiao Feng said, feeling hurt and speaking fiercely.
"Hehehe~" the little girl wasn't scared of him at all, and even kept provoking.
Soon, six hours passed.
The server-wide 3v3 tournament officially began.
Xiao Feng clicked into the interface again and discovered a new exclusive matching screen.
The interface showed that in his '1772 Zone', there were currently 102 teams in 'standby' status, able to fight.
And after a few seconds, that number rose to 1000—everyone was on standby.
As for Xiao Feng himself, he had two states to choose from: available for battle / unavailable for battle.
He chose the latter, temporarily unable to participate.
Meanwhile, his four teammates all checked 'available for battle', i. e., they were on standby.
"Xiao Feng big brother, I started matching." Jiang Ning said in the group.
"Hmm, let's see the situation first; if it's not easy to fight, call me." Xiao Feng said.
Jiang Ning is the team captain; selecting 'match' while in standby state allows one to start participating in battle.
If one is in standby state but has not selected 'match', normally the
situation is that one will not be pulled into the battlefield.
Only when some teams have finished ten matches or no longer want to fight, and there are still a few teams that failed to match with an opponent, will the system forcibly randomly seize a 'standby' team to engage in battle.
Teams forcibly entered into battle do not have their win/loss counted; they are considered "duty labor", essentially being conscripted by the system.
