______Walking with Love Part Sixty-Seven

Regarding Quyuan, I really cannot bear to say 'no' to him; I really like reading his verses: they stir the intestines and exhilarate the spirit, the fragrance fills the mouth. Reading his verses: they relieve hunger and thirst. A poet's death being commemorated by a nation with a holiday is unparalleled in the world: only our great China! Speaking plainly without literary flourish: this further fully demonstrates that the Chinese nation is a poetic ancient country that respects scholars and values civilization.

People love the great poet Quyuan for many reasons: the main reason is his patriotism; next is his poetry; next is that he founded a generation of romantic poetic style.

But, people love him mainly because of his deep affection for the motherland and his childlike heart for the people. If he were like the Qin clique, selling out the country for profit, harming the nation and exploiting the people, insatiably greedy, then even if his poetry were written beautifully, no one would commemorate a shameless historical clown.

Quyuan does not pretend; his feelings for the motherland and the people are that sincere, that ardent. When his motherland suffers hardship and the people face catastrophe, facing disaster, he is powerless. He became angry, because his statements and pleas, the Chu Huai Wang and other rats who hold the nation's fate, did not listen to him, but drove him far away and for no reason sought to put him to death. Quyuan, he wept. He is not weeping for his own fate; he is weeping for the motherland's fate, weeping for the people's suffering, not for the 'small self' but for the 'great self'.

When a person's beautiful sentiments are not understood, and even suffer rejection and attack from others, the more he argues, the harsher, heavier, and more vicious the backlash becomes.

His goodness is envied, trampled, and trampled upon by petty people, while his inner anguish cannot be voiced to others; even if he spoke, it would be useless.

Thus, Quyuan poured his great sorrow and inner beauty toward heaven, toward earth, toward mountains, toward rivers, toward the flowers, grasses, trees, birds, and beasts around him…………

Expressing __________

In this world, people cannot possibly hear me. Everyone thinks I am a useless earthenware vessel, obstructing their pursuit of pleasure and fun, a wreckage. What else do I have to say? Speaking would only bring more sorrow and worry, exclusion and attack…………

Quyuan pondered――――

Ah, people are really so dirty, so dirty as to make the world also utterly hideous――――――

All strive forward with greed, ever seeking without satiety.

Internally, they forgive themselves to measure others, each giving rise to jealousy.

Everyone is immersed in the accumulation of wealth, vying to compare whose money is greater, whose ……., whose …….; and this comparative trend only grows more intense.

Quyuan said, 'Do I still have something good to say? To whom should I say it? Who can still hear me?'

Never mind if they don't listen! If people won't listen, I cannot change my own aspirations――――

"Alas, my life lacks joy; I dwell alone in the mountains."

"I cannot change my heart to follow the world; therefore I will endure sorrow all my life."

Good people admire Quyuan for many reasons: never changing his fine qualities, and maintaining his noble quality unsullied by the world; this is also one aspect.

Quyuan said, 'Even if I were dead poor, going to the bustling market to pick up trash for a living, I would not change my beautiful original intention……………………..'

"In Dream of the Red Chamber, Lin Daiyu advises Jia Baoyu: Just change already………………………"

Quyuan, however, said――――――

"I will uphold the Way and not be happy; therefore I will endure sorrow all my life."

I will forever persist in my fine qualities, without hesitation, no matter how many difficulties and obstacles I encounter, always moving forward……………

This Quyuan, this stubborn donkey temperament, fate really can do nothing about him………………………

(Heart with the disaster area, emotion with the disaster area: may peace, courage, confidence, and strength follow and accompany the disaster area's people!)
