How can fated things be changed?

May 13th: How can fated things be changed?

——Liu Guozong tampered with Dream of the Red Chamber Part II

This Baoyu, people say he "seeks sorrow and hatred for no reason, sometimes seeming foolish and mad; even though he has a handsome appearance, inside he is actually a rustic, down-and-out, ignorant of worldly affairs, foolish and stubborn, averse to reading; his conduct is eccentric and perverse, what does it matter if the world slanders him!"

The wealthy do not know the joy of business; the poor cannot endure hardship; it is a pity to waste good times, having no hope for country or family.; Words to the pampered and well-fed: Do not follow this child's example!

These few lines above are Cao Xueqin's evaluation of Baoyu. Cao Xueqin summarizes Baoyu's character with 'foolish, encountering, mad, strange, perverse, arrogant'; this seems somewhat biased. Actually, although Baoyu usually fears reading, he is not completely as Cao Xueqin said, rustic and unintelligent. Look at the few lines of poetry he wrote: 'Listlessly the west wind fills my chest with sorrow, when the red reeds and white rushes break my heart. The empty fence, old garden traces of autumn; the cold moon, autumn frost, dreams have awareness. Constantly my thoughts follow the returning geese far away; in solitude I sit listening to the late cloth-beater's delay. Who pities my thin yellow flowers? Words of comfort, the Double Ninth Festival will have a time.' It still has a hint of poetic flavor.

Of course, among the seventy-two lines, it does not rank. Especially now. In Cao Xueqin's time, it was probably like that? Otherwise, why would Cao Xueqin say Baoyu is rustic? And using Baoyu as an example to warn others: Do not follow this child's example!

Baoyu actually managed to smash his beloved object in front of everyone, and even stated the reason for smashing the jade. If Baoyu really broke the jade, where would Daiyu's face be put?

Baoyu, that's his temperament: spoiled and willful. Daiyu secretly shed tears.

Xi Ren understands Baoyu best; after many years with Baoyu, she has a thorough grasp of his temperament. She is very accommodating, utterly compliant, truly a confidante. Therefore, Xi Ren advises Daiyu: "Young lady, do not be like this. You are newly arrived, not understanding Baoyu. Things like smashing jade—who knows how many times they have happened, and there are even more places where such things occur more often than smashing jade. You spend all day angry at him, yet you cannot let it go."

How could Daiyu know that fate had already arranged it: she came just to anger him. This is fate's good arrangement. How can fated things be changed?
