Chapter 1203: 1170 Without Changing Expression
Chang Yue knew something had happened; without changing expression, she quickly walked past Zheng Ren and arrived at the office first.
She saw the office atmosphere was solemn and gave Su Yun a glance.
Su Yun glanced at the medical record on the table; Chang Yue understood, picked it up and took a look.
Throughout the process, no one spoke; it was utterly silent. Even Liu Zewei felt something strange, wondering if he was the only one being kept in the dark. The few members of the Medical Team worked together like a machine, while he felt like an ill-fitting part.
Liu Zewei had a big head and little hair; he unconsciously touched his bald spot, his heart filled with mixed feelings. Still, having made such a big mistake, he ought to wait honestly. He felt uneasy, his heart tugged.
At that moment, Zheng Ren and the patient's family member walked in.
"Chief Zheng, I'll brief the patient's family." Chang Yue showed no abnormality, looking just as usual.
But Su Yun and Zheng Ren both noticed; she rarely smiled at Zheng Ren, and now she did.
Zheng Ren nodded, patted the patient's family member on the shoulder, and said with a smile, "It's fine, the surgery was very successful. Did you see the patient next to you? Nothing's wrong."
The patient's family member bowed his thick waist and thanked Zheng Ren politely.
"After the surgery there's a signature form; you just need to sign it." Chang Yue said with a smile, meanwhile calling up the pre‑surgery signature template on the computer, filling in the patient's name and printing a new copy.
"Okay, okay." The patient's family member didn't ask anything; just sign if asked, what's the big deal?
Doctor Chang is such a good person; how could she harm me? She definitely wouldn't.
He had the most basic trust in Chang Yue, didn't think otherwise, didn't sit down, and didn't even look at what he was being asked to sign.
"Here, write as I say." Chang Yue pointed to the blank field and said.
Liu Zewei's heart leapt up.
This is the critical moment. If the patient's family member had intentionally written 'no liability,' he would have reacted by now.
But if it were just a slip of the pen… no, the difference between 'self‑liability' and 'no liability' is huge. His heart pounded anxiously; he bowed his head deeply, his bald spot shining, afraid to look at the patient's family member.
"Write consent to the surgery, bearing all consequences yourself." Chang Yue said calmly.
The patient's family member was very honest and didn't ask why he needed to sign a surgery consent after the operation was done; he didn't understand the hospital's medical procedure and didn't want to.
"Who would come to the hospital for no reason? Doctor Chang told me to write however she said; why think so much?"
Following Chang Yue's instructions, he wrote stroke by stroke in the 'patient's family opinion' column of the surgery consent form, copying the characters above.
After finishing, he put down his pen, grinned, and said, "Doctor Chang, anything else?"
"Nothing else, go back. Remember, tonight you can only give your old father porridge, just add some salted vegetable soup, and avoid raw, cold, hard foods." Chang Yue said as if nothing had happened, showing no joy or relief.
"Oh oh, okay, thank you Doctor Chang." The man walked to the door, turned and bowed deeply. He couldn't express thanks in words, only show his gratitude through action.
After he left, the office atmosphere eased a little. Liu Zewei watched Chang Yue replace the informed‑surgery consent form, tear up the one that said 'no liability' and toss it into the trash, still feeling a bit dazed.
Doing this, I truly was at fault; I don't blame Su Yun for dropping the medical record.
"Old Liu, be careful from now on." Chang Yue said without harshness, just calmly.
"Doctor Chang, what's going on?" Liu Zewei touched his bald spot; it's said that doing so speeds blood circulation and delays baldness as long as possible, but he's done it for years with no effect.
But it's become a habit; changing it is very hard.
"The patient's family member isn't literate; he probably just wrote the wrong character, not on purpose." Chang Yue said: "Over there, people usually leave school after elementary to herd sheep and do farm work. Writing a wrong character is quite normal."
Liu Zewei wanted to say that mistaking 'no liability' for 'self‑liability' was too absurd, but the mistake was his own, and Zheng Lao Ban and Doctor Chang had smoothed it over for him, so maybe he should say nothing.
He hadn't done such textual work in years; he was really out of practice, and Liu Zewei made excuses for himself in his heart.
"Old Liu, it's fine." Zheng Ren comforted him, "Just be more careful from now on."
Liu Zewei nodded repeatedly; this kind of thing, with Zheng Lao Ban backing the surgery, shouldn't be a big deal. Moreover, Chang Yue gets along well with the patient's family, so even dissatisfied patients would be won over.
It seemed like a narrow escape, but actually it was thanks to the double guarantee of Zheng Lao Ban and Chang Yue. By the way, that pretty Doctor Su, flipping through the records in a flash, how did she spot my mistake at a glance?
Liu Zewei felt embarrassed; Zheng Lao Ban's Medical Team is truly awesome. Such an issue would be a big deal anywhere, possibly causing a major uproar, but here it was resolved without a change in expression.
He sat down honestly, preparing to study Chang Yue's medical records.
"You go ahead and get busy; I'll go upstairs with the boss to check on something." Su Yun said with a smile.
"What's up?" Chang Yue raised her head, adjusted her glasses, and asked.
"A critical patient ran away; I'll tell you the details over dinner tonight. Also, I left a few options in the group—pick what you want to eat. I hate it when you discuss without looking at the group, then after eating you start complaining." Su Yun said this while leaving the office with Zheng Ren.
"Boss, there's a newcomer; we still need to be careful." Leaving the ward, Su Yun said.
He didn't exaggerate endlessly or push the blame onto Liu Zewei; he just gave a reminder.
Zheng Ren nodded and said nothing.
"Where could that guy have run to?" Su Yun changed the subject quickly; this matter had nothing to do with her or Zheng Ren, so her tone was light.
"I don't know. Friction from a glass bottle against the pubic symphysis causes bone damage in over 90%, and there's a major blood vessel nearby." Zheng Ren said, "He came in because of fecal incontinence. I think his anal sphincter is already problematic; without muscular restraint, too much activity could cause a serious problem."
"Let's go take a look; I definitely want to get a photo with that guy." Su Yun was very gossipy; in his guess, such a case shouldn't be fatal, belonging to a C‑level patient.
The condition isn't serious, yet it's quite bizarre; plus, he was hospitalized and then ran away on his own—all kinds of strange coincidences make it prime gossip material.
"Don't make a fuss; the patient's condition is very troublesome. Even if we go on stage… the two of us together, I don't think our chances of success are high." Zheng Ren sighed and said.
