Chapter 1214
"You say, nowadays young people, they play and can't even get into it." Director Wei looked at Zheng Ren holding the pathology bowl in his hand, and sighed.
Zheng Ren remained silent; this was indeed the most outrageous thing he had ever seen.
This bottle must definitely be shown to the patient's family, and cannot be handed to her. Many things need to be considered for the future, to guard against any mishap.
Director Wei opened the door for Zheng Ren, Zheng Ren shoved the door open with his shoulder, walked out and shouted.
It was late at night; a dozen or so people sat at the entrance, apparently waiting for emergency surgery patients' families.
Zheng Ren felt somewhat moved; this seemed like the first time he had explained a condition to a patient's family in the middle of the night at 912. This place is really busy; I estimate the Operating Room has already started five or six Shou Bing.
The girl heard a doctor calling a boy's name and anxiously walked over.
"Doctor, was the Shou Bing successful?" Her face was pallid, without a trace of blood, as if she herself had just suffered massive bleeding.
"Shou Bing, somewhat successful, but the patient will have a long dangerous period post-operative." Zheng Ren said.
This is absolutely not alarmist talk, but the plain truth.
The girl's body swayed slightly, then steadied. She looked at the basin covered with a white gauze pad, feeling doubtful and afraid.
"This is something taken from your male... lover's rectum; take a look, then it will be sent for pathological examination." Zheng Ren held the pathology bowl in his left hand, and with his right hand lifted the gauze pad.
The hallway lighting was much dimmer than the Operating Room's Shadowless Lamp, yet that bottle was so striking that even Zheng Ren now felt a hint of bewilderment and incomprehension.
"This is..." the girl stared for a moment; her expression didn't look like she was pretending.
"This is a bottle taken from your lover's rectum; it's been there for many years, and now there is a severe infection inside the intestine." Zheng Ren said.
"Really... really... there is a... bottle?" The girl's eyes widened, her face grew even paler, looking especially frightening.
Zheng Ren sighed in his heart; this should be a reaction of deep Inner Mind self-avoidance and rejection, an unconscious forgetting to achieve self-protection.
If there were even a slight chance, I wouldn't say these things to the patient's family. But if I don't say them, serious problems could arise later.
The girl stared at the bloody, fuzzy bottle for a few seconds, then her body swayed, her legs went weak, and she was about to sit down on the ground.
Director Wei quickly steadied her; it seemed due to emotional Fluctuation, not a serious problem. Zheng Ren still wore his surgical gloves, soaked in blood, and could only stand aside and watch.
Other people found it lively and came over to watch, so Zheng Ren hurriedly put the cover back on the pathology basin.
If other people saw it, it's none of their business, they wouldn't know what rumors would spread. This is the common psychology of onlookers, so Zheng Ren needs to be on guard.
Director Wei helped the girl sit down, went back to the Operating Room to get her a bottle of glucose water, opened it and took a few sips.
"The patient will be sent out shortly and needs to go directly to the ICU. Recent expenses may be higher, so you need to be mentally prepared." Director Wei said finally.
The girl's eyes were empty; no matter what Director Wei said, she didn't speak.
No other family members had arrived yet, so Zheng Ren and Director Wei both felt awkward sitting there. The two returned to the Operating Room, and Zheng Ren whispered, "Let me see if my inpatient doctor is here."
"Huh?" Director Wei exclaimed in surprise.
"I brought an inpatient doctor from Hai Cheng." Zheng Ren explained briefly as he walked back to the Operating Room. He put the pathology basin down, tore off the sterile gown and gloves and threw them into the medical waste bin.
Director Wei instructed his subordinate doctor to keep the bottle safe, then went with Zheng Ren to change clothes, walking and asking, "Zheng Lao Ban, is there anything special about the inpatient doctor you brought from Hai Cheng?"
"Nothing much; he usually never gives me a pleasant face."
Director Wei was taken aback, wondering what that meant.
"Once, there was a disturbance in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department: a husband killed his cheating wife, then walked the hallway holding a knife. You know this situation—when someone has a mental breakdown, anything they do isn't surprising."
Director Wei nodded, that's exactly right. If I encountered such a situation, I'd run as far as I could; the only thing I could do is grab the time to call the police.
"Then my inpatient doctor chatted with him for half an hour about ideals and life, making the murderer break down in tears; when the police arrived, he directly turned himself in."
"What talent!" Director Wei exclaimed.
"Yeah, that's right." Zheng Ren thought of Chang Yue's face, which never smiled at him, and felt many emotions.
He took out his phone and called Chang Yue.
Indeed, she didn't return to Golden Palm; instead she was hanging out in the office water group chat.
Zheng Ren, Su Yun, and Xie Yiren all went into surgery; they hadn't expected it to be so late. After work, Chang Yue went home, fed Heizi, and took him out for a walk. Seeing that the surgery hadn't finished yet and worrying something might be wrong, she hurried back.
She asked the doctor in Gastroenterology Surgery, learned the situation, and didn't cause a fuss; she stayed in the office chatting with Chu Yanran and Chu Yan zhi all along.
Upon receiving Zheng Ren's call, Chang Yue responded with a word, asked for the location, and then hung up directly.
Director Wei was also curious, but he didn't ask further. For such matters, Zheng Lao Ban would get involved if he wanted to; but Director Wei himself was exhausted, so he preferred to wait until after sending the patient to the ICU, then hurry home to sleep.
Zheng Ren arrived at the Operating Room door and waited for Chang Yue. After meeting, he briefly explained the situation and then handed this trouble over to her.
Chang Yue gave Zheng Ren a fierce glare with her big double eyelids, then went to the girl's side. Zheng Ren immediately returned to the Operating Room, anyway he believed Chang Yue could handle it.
By the time he returned, Su Yun had already closed the abdominal cavity; seeing him come back, he said, "Boss, the instruments Charles sent you are really easy to use."
"Hmm." Zheng Ren snorted through his nose.
"Never mind what you want, look at how stingy you are. Let's go out for a bite later; what do you want to eat?" Su Yun asked.
"No need, I'll treat you tonight." Professor Feng, who had been there all along, quickly said.
Zheng Ren, Su Yun, and Xie Yiren all counted as those invited to lend a hand; they had performed a ten-hour surgery, and if they didn't get a meal after stepping down, they might as well just kill themselves by hitting their heads.
This is an unspoken rule; Su Yun wasn't polite either, smiling and saying, "At this hour, Professor Feng, do you have any good recommendations?"
"Cut the nonsense, I'll arrange dinner." Director Wei said.
"Yo, Director Wei arranging it, we gotta have something good."
"Let's go to a barbecue place for authentic Inner Mongolia West Qi lamb; later I'll go down and first make a call to arrange it." Director Wei started packing up the last of his things.
"Really? There's authentic Inner Mongolia West Qi lamb? Usually when people talk about West Qi lamb or Hulunbuir lamb, it's just nonsense. Director Wei, don't try to fool me." Su Yun joked.
One of my patients from twenty years ago opened this place; I've been eating here for years and it's still fairly authentic. But it's this late now—whether there's anything good depends on luck. Zheng Lao Ban, Xiao Su, you guys go rest first; I'll call you when I'm done.
