Chapter 2768: 2569 Folklore Company
Ding Ling is an ordinary recent graduate.
After graduating and entering society, she realized many things she hadn't understood before. Just after joining a company, before she could get familiar with the work, she was scared off by the constant harassment of a greasy superior.
After several failed job searches, she finally joined a folklore company as a clerk, responsible for some copywriting work.
She cherished this job opportunity; the boss hardly ever showed up. Beside her was only a female colleague, Gu Jie, who also had a good temperament, and the so-called office culture had nothing to do with her.
Each day she just wrote some promotional soft articles, trying to wrap that superstitious nonsense in soft copy, after all it's feudal superstition; saying it outright would get it 404'd.
But this line really makes money; the boss plays a round of golf, goes to check feng shui, conducts some folk activity, and hundreds of thousands are deposited.
This is pure profit, with basically no expenses. Her own monthly salary of 4500, with five insurances and one fund, is just spare change leaking from the boss's fingers in his eyes.
Hearing Gu Jie say there were still tens of thousands in year-end bonuses each year, this money made Ding Ling's eyes turn red. Buying a house and car were no longer dreams, even in a first-tier city like Yangcheng.
But she couldn't talk too much; her predecessor was fired by the boss for saying just two extra sentences, without knowing if they'd offended anyone.
Today Ding Ling came to work happily, wearing light makeup and a professional manager's suit, the standard image of an urban lady. Apart from herself, no one knew she worked at a folklore culture company.
After getting off the subway, Ding Ling tidied her clothes that had been messed up by the crowd, and her phone rang.
She took it out and saw; Ding Ling immediately instinctively steadied herself, putting on a professional smile. It was the boss calling, the one who was always away from home and basically never at the company.
"Boss."
"I'll be at the company right away."
"Um... okay, definitely no problem! What do I need to prepare?"
"Okay, okay."
Ding Ling hung up the phone, feeling a bit uneasy.
The boss wanted to take her out to run errands; could it be that his salty pig hand finally couldn't hold back and reached for her?
She felt a little nervous, but no matter what she thought, directly refusing was impossible. Such an easy, relaxed job—if she just lost it like that, what a waste. Making money is so hard nowadays; this job... if possible, Ding Ling would want to do it for a lifetime.
She opened her handbag, glanced at the anti-wolf spray still there, and Ding Ling's heart steadied.
But should she use it on the boss? Once his salty pig hand reached for her... although she had just entered society, after only being casually touched twice, Ding Ling already felt the pain deep into her bones.
"We'll talk about it later, we'll talk about it later," Ding Ling consoled herself.
She didn't go up to the office building, but waited downstairs for the boss's car.
A gray-black Bentley pulled up in front, the window rolled down, a young man with a stern look gazed, his eyes somewhat deep, and he said softly, "Ding Ling, get in."
""
Ding Ling paused for a moment, wondering if her boss was really this young? Gu Jie hadn't said so, and Ding Ling had never looked up the boss's information. She had thought he was a greasy uncle over fifty, but unexpectedly he was a refined, cultured man in his thirties, a "uncle".
Uncles are not all the same; this one, without saying much, just that Bentley dispelled all of Ding Ling's doubts.
His looks couldn't be called high, just ordinary, but how many young people can afford to ride in a Bentley?
Ding Ling carefully tucked her hair behind her ears, showed her most beautiful smile, slightly bowed, and said, "Boss."
"Hurry up and get in."
"Um, his temper is a bit bad, too impatient," Ding Ling thought.
After getting in the car, Ding Ling felt a bit nervous, sitting helplessly in a corner like an innocent little white rabbit.
But the young, capable boss didn't say a word to her, just kept making phone calls.
Reading his expression, Ding Ling roughly knew what they were going to do today.
She was just a vase, an ornament beside the boss, going to visit some wealthy household. Visiting usually means weddings, funerals, marriages; seeing the boss in a Tang suit, it shouldn't be a funeral, but a celebration.
"My surname is Liu, Liu Muchun." After finishing his business, the boss said, "I've been busy lately, haven't returned to the company much; I read the few soft articles you wrote, and the writing is not bad."
"Thank you, boss. I'll work harder."
"Today you'll be my female companion; speak less, no matter what you hear or see, it's best not to say a word." Liu Muchun instructed.
"Okay, boss."
"Your clothes are too poor; later we'll go to Taikoo Li, I'll give you twenty minutes to change into a set of clothes." Liu Muchun showed no interest in chatting with Ding Ling; after sizing her up, he casually arranged it.
That day, Ding Ling felt like she had become a princess from a fairy tale, buying a well-fitted, low-key luxury outfit, standing beside the boss as a vase.
The feared salty pig hand didn't exist; the boss seemed to have no interest in her at all, and Ding Ling felt a bit resentful about that. If the salty pig hand moved, she'd be unhappy; if it didn't move, it made her feel even worse.
She found it strange that the car seemed to have no destination, just circling the city. Liu Muchun kept calling to inquire, but got no results.
In Ding Ling's view, Boss Liu was already quite accomplished for his age. Judging by observation, this car shouldn't be a rental for show; it was likely his private car.
He seemed to be rushing to meet someone, but kept being turned away with a cold face. Moreover, the boss didn't give up, always accompanying with a smile, continually asking people.
As time passed, Ding Ling noticed the boss's temper seemed to be getting worse, his brows furrowing tighter. She sensibly stayed silent; a boss who could casually spend ten or twenty thousand just to package her as a vase... could he easily be offended?
The money just spent at Taikoo Li was all swiped on the boss's card; Ding Ling inwardly hoped the boss would go smoothly today, otherwise she wouldn't know what to do with that money.
Liu Muchun held his phone in his hand, his left thumb constantly tapping on the other four fingers, like a dancing elf.
After some time in the industry, Ding Ling knew this was the so-called "able to calculate and predict"; it turned out her boss had real talent. But what exactly was worrying him so much?
After an unknown amount of time, Ding Ling's right-hand phone vibrated with a buzzing sound. He opened his eyes and immediately answered the call.
"Tiannan Medical University Affiliated First Hospital, got it, thanks, senior brother." Liu Muchun lightly said a word of thanks, then hung up, smiling happily.
"Go to Tiannan Medical University Affiliated First Hospital, the operating room." Liu Muchun told the driver.
"Okay."
"Do we know anyone there?"
"Yes, I'll contact them right away," the driver replied immediately.
