Chapter 257: Fainted

「Early morning.」

Chloe Reed emerged from her room with dark circles under her eyes. Her grandmother couldn’t help but laugh when she saw her.

"Sweetheart, what’s wrong? Didn’t you sleep well?"

Chloe Reed walked over and hugged her grandma, whimpering playfully a couple of times before saying, "I had nightmares all night."

’Being constantly bothered by Walker Grant—what was that if not a nightmare?’

Her grandmother smiled, stroked her hair, and said, "Then why don’t you go back to sleep for a bit?"

"No," Chloe Reed said with her eyes closed. "You’re about to leave. I want to take you to the airport."

Her grandmother said, "Then I’ll make you breakfast."

Chloe Reed didn’t refuse.

She loved her grandmother’s cooking. She turned to wash up, and by the time she came out, she had put on makeup, completely concealing the weariness on her face.

Her grandmother was leaning on the stove with her eyes closed, looking tired.

"Grandma, don’t I look pretty?"

Hearing her voice, her grandmother turned to look at her and broke into a smile. "Pretty. So pretty. My sweetheart is the prettiest of all."

Chloe Reed beamed as she went over and hugged her grandmother, acting incredibly clingy.

A flicker of something passed through her grandmother’s eyes. "Alright," she said. "Time to eat."

"Mhm."

Breakfast was served, and Chloe Reed ate heartily. She felt exceptionally satisfied, but also couldn’t bear the thought of her grandmother leaving.

She didn’t want her grandmother to leave at all.

Her grandmother, however, just kept smiling kindly, looking at Chloe as if she could never get enough of the sight.

Before she was ten, she had rarely visited her grandmother’s house, because her mother, Autumn Linton, was estranged from her own mother.

Later, after Sunny Reed joined the Reed family, whenever Sunny falsely accused her, Chloe would be devastated and run away to her grandmother’s house.

The ridiculous thing was, the first time she ran away, she had already been at her grandmother’s for over ten days before Charles Reed and Autumn Linton even remembered her and started searching frantically...

After that, she started visiting her grandmother’s house often, even spending her winter and summer breaks there.

Chloe Reed suppressed the sadness in her heart and packed many things for her grandmother. Worried she would be uncomfortable, she included earplugs and some snacks in case she got hungry.

She also downloaded TV shows onto a tablet for her so she wouldn’t be bored on the plane.

With everything ready, the two of them left the house together.

However, just as they got downstairs, they saw a Rolls-Royce Phantom parked by the roadside. Standing beside it was a tall, well-built man with a handsome face and a mild expression.

"Grandma."

He took a step forward and very naturally took her bags. "Let me take you to the airport," he said.

Her grandmother looked at him with a complex expression but didn’t refuse. "Alright."

Chloe Reed’s brows furrowed, but this was a critical time for their divorce, and she didn’t want to provoke him.

She got straight into the car and sat quietly in the back, not saying a single word.

Her grandmother, however, asked Walker Grant about how he’d been, her tone kind and comforting.

When they arrived at the airport and reached the security checkpoint, Chloe Reed gave her grandmother a reluctant hug.

"Grandma, wait for me. I’ll come find you."

"Mhm, I’ll wait for you."

Her grandmother smiled. "Time flies. We’ll see each other again soon."

"Yeah, yeah."

Her eyes stinging with tears, Chloe Reed reluctantly let her go.

Her grandmother looked at Walker Grant and sighed softly. "If you can," she said, "you should separate for a while. It will let you both see your own hearts clearly. Then you can decide if you want to be together. That would be more freeing than being tangled up like this, wouldn’t it?"

Walker Grant’s expression was placid. "Yes, Grandma is right."

’He’d heard her, but he had no intention of doing as she said.’

Her grandmother seemed to realize this and was about to say something more, but her body suddenly swayed.

Then, to Chloe Reed’s horrified gasp, she collapsed!
