Chapter 271: How About Coming to My Side?
A vein throbbed on Walker Grant’s temple, and his tone grew icy. "Why do you talk so much nonsense?"
"Huh? Are you getting mad? That’s a rare sight. Okay, okay, I’ll stop messing with you. My people will contact you once they’re in the country." The other person chuckled, knowing Walker Grant’s temper, and didn’t joke any further.
"Mm."
Walker Grant started to hang up.
"Oh, by the way..." the other person suddenly said, "I’ve got a bit of a lead on that matter you asked me to investigate."
Walker Grant’s brows drew together. "Can’t you just spit it all out at once?"
"Tsk... Is that any way to ask for a favor? I’m telling you, if you don’t talk to me a little more gently, I’m not going to tell you anything!" The other person’s temper flared. He let out a cold huff and hung up.
Walker Grant: "..."
’What a headache.’
...
The old woman was delighted to see Preston Vance. She’d taken a liking to the young man from the moment she first saw him, mainly because he had such a pleasant air about him.
Preston Vance chatted with the old woman for quite a while.
Off to the side, Autumn Linton pulled Chloe Reed outside and asked in a hushed voice, "Chloe, how do you know the eldest son of the Vance family?"
And from the looks of it, they were quite familiar with each other.
Chloe Reed said, "We just met at that banquet."
Autumn Linton’s eyes darted. "It looks like you two get along well," she said. "Since that’s the case, why don’t you talk to him about a partnership with the Reed Group?"
Chloe Reed looked at her in amusement. "I told you to pull the money you invested in Sunny Reed. Have you done that?"
Autumn Linton frowned. "Chloe, that’s your sister. Don’t be so petty."
Chloe Reed scoffed. "Then why should I ask him to partner with the Reed Group? I don’t even have any say in the company. If the Vance Group partners with the Reed Group, is all the money earned just going to go to Sunny Reed?"
’In your dreams!’
Autumn Linton was getting angry. "Chloe, how can you think that way? You’re the eldest daughter of the Reed family. The Reed Group will be yours sooner or later. Your sister will have to listen to you then. If you’re a little nicer to her now, she can help you in the future. Wouldn’t that be a good thing?"
’I’ve had enough of this!’
Chloe Reed couldn’t be bothered to listen to this nonsense anymore. She turned and walked back into the hospital room.
Walker Grant had already laid down the law: Charles Reed and his wife had to pull their investment, or they would be going against Walker Grant himself.
And they wouldn’t dare to cross Walker Grant.
「Inside the hospital room.」
Preston Vance noticed the old woman looked tired and said, "Grandma, I’ll come see you another day. You should get some good rest."
"Mm, alright."
The old woman agreed with a warm smile.
Preston Vance turned as he came out, looked at Chloe Reed, and asked, "I didn’t keep you from your work, did I?"
"Not at all. Let’s go, I’ll walk out with you." Chloe Reed said with a slight smile.
Preston Vance gave Autumn Linton a slight nod, then left with Chloe Reed.
In the elevator, Preston Vance asked, "How are things going with your work?"
Chloe Reed replied, "It’ll be over in about two weeks."
A smile touched Preston Vance’s lips. "In that case, would you be interested in coming to work for me? I’ve founded a voice-over studio, and we’re currently short-staffed. If you’re willing, I could put you in charge of running it."
Hearing this, Chloe Reed was taken aback. "Mr. Vance," she said, "are you offering me a job?"
Preston Vance adjusted his glasses. "I can just tell that your current job is making you unhappy," he said. "I just want you to be somewhere you can be happy and at ease."
Chloe Reed froze for a moment at his words. ’She never thought an outsider could see her situation so clearly.’
