Chapter 270: I Heard Your Wife Doesn’t Want You Anymore
Chloe Reed frowned slightly. She was exhausted and had no time to argue with him.
She went straight to the bathroom to wash up. Afterward, she lay down on the small bed, her mind a mess, still wondering who had tried to kidnap her.
「The next day.」
When she opened her eyes, she saw that Walker Grant had been sitting in the chair all night.
His shirt was a little more wrinkled, and his face showed a hint of fatigue.
The old woman had woken up by then and asked, "Walker, have you been sitting here all night?"
Walker Grant said, "No, I haven’t been here long."
The old woman was a little surprised.
Walker Grant gave a gentle smile. "Grandma, how are you feeling today?"
The old woman said, "A little better."
Walker Grant then looked at Chloe Reed and said, "I had breakfast delivered. After we eat, I’ll go to the office with you."
Chloe Reed ignored him, going over to talk to the old woman instead.
The old woman took in the scene between them but didn’t say anything more.
After breakfast, Autumn Linton arrived.
Chloe Reed frowned slightly. ’I really don’t want her here.’ But since her grandmother had agreed, she didn’t say anything more.
Outside the hospital, she asked, "When are you going to do what you promised me last night?"
Walker Grant pressed his temples and said, "They’ll pull their investment today."
Hearing this, she couldn’t help but glance at him.
’He’s certainly being quick about it this time.’
His car was already parked by the roadside. Walker Grant opened the door. "Get in."
"No, thank you," Chloe Reed said coolly. "I’ll take a taxi."
But Walker Grant grabbed her wrist. "Chloe, after what happened last night, I can’t let you go alone."
Chloe Reed gave him a humorless smile. "Didn’t you arrange for bodyguards to protect me?"
But Walker Grant said, "At least let me have some peace of mind right now, okay?"
"Chloe."
Just then, a gentle voice called out.
Chloe Reed turned and saw Preston Vance just getting out of a car.
"Mr. Vance."
She took the opportunity to pull her hand away and walked over to Preston Vance.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, confused.
A guilty look appeared on Preston Vance’s face. "I’m sorry I wasn’t able to help you before. I’d planned on visiting your grandmother, but something came up at the company. I had to go abroad and only got back last night."
Chloe Reed smiled and shook her head. "Please, don’t say that. My grandmother’s surgery is already over."
Preston Vance said, "I brought some health supplements. Is it a convenient time to see your grandmother?"
"Of course." Chloe Reed nodded. She sent a message to Kyle Coleman saying she’d be late to the office, then said to Preston Vance, "Let’s go."
"Mm."
Walker Grant watched them go back into the hospital, so angry his temples throbbed.
His expression darkened, but he didn’t follow them. Instead, he ducked into his car.
He dialed Dylan Finch’s number. "What have you found out about last night?"
Dylan Finch hesitated before saying, "Mr. Grant, based on the traces we found, we can determine the suspect is male. But he has strong counter-surveillance skills and left no other clues. For now... we still don’t know who he is."
Walker Grant closed his eyes and hung up.
After a long moment of deliberation, he dialed a number he hadn’t called in a very long time.
"I need to borrow one of your people."
"Oh? What for?" The voice on the other end was nonchalant.
"To protect my wife, and to find out who tried to kidnap her," Walker Grant said, his tone level. "Name your price."
"Hahaha..." The person on the other end laughed. "You’re being awfully generous this time. But from what I hear, your wife doesn’t want you anymore, does she?"
