Chapter 277: Became a Super-Rich Woman
"My grandma trusts you, and I trust you too. Please continue to help me," Chloe Reed said, letting out a long breath.
Her hand was a little sore from all the signing. At this moment, she hadn’t yet truly felt the sense of security these documents afforded her.
She looked at Zachary Bowman and asked, "Is the security company in Breyburn?"
Zachary Bowman said, "If you wish, it can be relocated to Breyburn."
"Then let’s relocate it," Chloe Reed said with a slight smile.
"Understood."
Zachary Bowman nodded, then asked, "Miss Reed, do you have any other requests? You can give them to me all at once, and I’ll take care of everything for you."
Chloe Reed said, "Let me think about it."
"Of course. Just send me a message when you think of something."
The two had already exchanged contact information.
"Mm."
Chloe Reed nodded.
Zachary Bowman left with the documents, and Chloe Reed returned to her office, still feeling a bit dazed.
’Did I just go from being a regular rich lady with a few hundred million to a super-rich one?’
And right now, there was indeed a particularly thorny issue to deal with.
Chloe Reed sent Zachary Bowman a message.
Chloe Reed: [I need a team of professional lawyers to handle my divorce case.]
Zachary Bowman: [Understood. I’ll arrange it.]
Chloe Reed put down her phone and slowly let out a sigh of relief.
Back at the office, she got back to work. Even though her net worth was different now, the tasks at hand still needed to be completed properly.
She was busy for a good part of the day. By the afternoon, Zachary Bowman sent her a message telling her everything was ready.
Chloe Reed was astonished by his efficiency. ’So fast!’
She immediately sent him Miles Hawthorne’s contact information and asked him to get in touch with Miles.
Miles Hawthorne’s people had always been the ones helping with the divorce.
After work, Chloe Reed went to the hospital first and told her grandmother about her meeting with Zachary Bowman.
The old woman smiled kindly. "I’m too old and don’t have the energy to manage all that anymore. Now that it’s in your hands, you have enough to do nothing and just take it easy for the rest of your life."
Chloe Reed couldn’t help but laugh. "Grandma, that fortune is enough for me to take it easy for ten lifetimes."
But the old woman said, "You can’t take it with you when you die, so why be so frugal? Spend it to your heart’s content in this life."
"Okay."
Chloe Reed squeezed her hand and then touched her own cheek, her expression one of complete reliance.
After having dinner with the old woman, Chloe Reed dialed Owen Sterling’s number.
After setting a place to meet, she left the hospital.
However, once she got in her car, she called Zachary Bowman. "Are there any of your people in Breyburn I can use right now? I need someone to protect me discreetly."
Zachary Bowman said, "Yes, there are. One moment, Miss Reed."
Chloe Reed raised an eyebrow slightly. ’Just how many businesses does my grandma own?’
Zachary Bowman said with a laugh, "They’re all from the security company. They’ve been arriving in Breyburn one after another and are ready for your orders now."
’So it’s just people from the security company?’
Chloe Reed tightened her grip on her phone. "Okay, I’ll send you my location. Just have them protect me from the shadows."
"Understood."
The meeting place she’d arranged with Owen Sterling was a restaurant with excellent privacy.
When she entered the private room, she saw that Owen Sterling had already arrived. He had lost his former spirited demeanor and looked completely dejected.
Chloe Reed sat across from him, somewhat surprised. "You’ve changed so much."
Owen Sterling gave a bitter smile and said, "I joined a new company, but I’m being ostracized by my colleagues and targeted by my boss. I worked hard on all the projects that came across my desk, but they always ended up with errors. Even projects I never touched somehow end up going wrong on my watch..."
He took a deep breath and said, "Chloe Reed, someone’s targeting me. The only person I can think of is Mr. Grant. Didn’t he come today?"
