Chloe Reed: "..."

She was truly speechless.

Standing to the side, she furrowed her brow and looked at him. "What is it you really want?"

Walker Grant looked ahead, his tone mild. "I received a notice today. The court date is in three days."

Chloe Reed’s expression flickered. "What are you trying to say?"

"I have many ways to make sure this hearing never happens." Walker Grant turned his head, his deep, dark eyes fixed on her. "Chloe, get in the car. I won’t do anything to you."

Chloe Reed felt the threat. She stared at him in disbelief. "What are you going to do, go after the judge?"

Walker Grant said nothing, simply staring at her.

She felt the pressure, and she knew he was capable of it.

Her good mood instantly evaporated. Her beautiful face was grim as she got into the car, slamming the door shut.

"I don’t love you anymore. Is there any point in you dragging this out?" Chloe Reed turned to look at him. ’Haven’t I made that obvious enough?’

Walker Grant’s handsome, sharp brows knitted together. He didn’t quite believe her. ’They were together for eight years. How could he not know whether she loved him or not?’

He said, "Take me home."

"Why don’t you just go die!" Chloe Reed couldn’t take it anymore and cursed at him.

Walker Grant gave her a dark look and said, "Chloe, calm down. If you do, maybe I won’t do anything."

Chloe Reed sneered, "I’d rather believe that pigs can fly than believe you."

The man let out a low chuckle. "You don’t believe me?"

Chloe Reed looked away, started the car, and began driving toward Jardinelle.

"I sent Grandma away today."

After a moment, Walker Grant’s magnetic voice sounded, his tone flat. "She cursed me, said I should have been the one who died four years ago."

Then, he looked at her. "Is that what you think, too? If my older brother were still alive, you’d be happy, wouldn’t you?"

Chloe Reed’s pretty brows furrowed. "What nonsense are you talking about? That’s your Grant family’s business. It has nothing to do with me."

Walker Grant’s tone grew heavy. "Everyone in the Grant family loved my older brother. Including me."

Chloe Reed didn’t answer him. She had no idea what had gotten into him today, why he would suddenly bring this up.

But he didn’t continue, and the car fell into silence.

Twenty minutes later, the car stopped at the entrance to Jardinelle.

Chloe Reed said coldly, "We’re here."

But there was no response from the man beside her.

She turned her head in confusion, only to see that he had actually fallen asleep against the back of the seat!

’He fell asleep in such a short time?’

Chloe Reed reached out and slapped his face. A crisp SLAP! echoed through the car.

Walker Grant instinctively grabbed her wrist, his voice still heavy with sleep. "Chloe, why did you hit me?"

Chloe Reed yanked her hand free and said, "Stop pretending. We’re here. Get out."

But Walker Grant didn’t move.

The atmosphere in the car grew strangely tense. For no reason, Chloe Reed felt a knot of anxiety tighten inside her, and a hint of wariness appeared in her eyes.

"Can we not get divorced?"

After a long silence, the man’s slightly hoarse voice broke the quiet.

She’d lost count of how many times he had asked that question.

And Chloe Reed’s answer had never changed. "The divorce is non-negotiable."

"Fine."

Walker Grant replied, then got out of the car.

His simple agreement left Chloe Reed stunned. She stared at him, bewildered.

’What did he just say?’

’He agreed?’

’So, the hearing in three days will proceed smoothly?’
