Chapter 74: Having a Follower: Kadabra

~6 min read 1,052 words

The leisurely grazing Mudkip paid no attention to outside matters, only moving slightly when Luo Mu spoke.

After introducing the Mudkip, Luo Mu turned to the Swampert: “Swampert, after dismissal, stay behind—we’ll find a suitable spot to create a patch of mud for the Mudkip to live in.”

“Swamp.”

Swampert nodded, agreeing.

As another Ground-type Pokémon, Swampert held a favorable opinion of the Mudkip; it was merely a small favor.

With all three new members introduced, Luo Mu was just about to search for the Smoochum when it floated lazily onto his palm.

Even after suddenly changing environments, Smoochum’s personality remained lively, its eyes curiously scanning the other Pokémon.

Upon Smoochum’s appearance, the Pokémon involuntarily flared their nostrils, catching the faint, sweet aroma drifting through the air.

Especially Dragonite, which already loved sweet flavors, nearly floated over to Luo Mu’s side, its entire dragon face nearly pressed against Smoochum—seen from the other Pokémon’s perspective, it looked as if Dragonite intended to swallow Smoochum whole.

Smoochum wasn’t afraid of the suddenly enlarged dragon face; instead, it giggled, as if thinking Dragonite was playing with it.

Luo Mu used one hand to push away Dragonite, whose mouth now glistened with suspiciously shiny drool, and sighed: “This is Smoochum. Don’t be fooled by its small, cute appearance—it’ll be able to produce sweet, delicious whipped cream for desserts.”

Hearing the word “dessert,” not only did Dragonite’s eyes brighten, but even the Kingdra, standing motionless with a sour expression, showed signs of interest.

Even Luo Mu himself thought: sweet, delicious desserts... must be incredibly tasty.

Kingdra suddenly felt that adding a few new members wasn’t such a bad thing—after all, none of them could threaten its status, nor could they, like it, have the confidence to sneak into Luo Mu’s bed at night.

This gathering was merely to let the four new Pokémon become familiar with the Ralts group, preventing any mishaps that might lead them to be mistaken for wild Pokémon intruding on the farm and being driven away.

Whether it was Pichu or Minun, both had grown up all their lives within the confines of Eli’s farm—they had no idea about survival skills in the wild, and one misstep could lead to trouble.

After dismissal, Luo Mu strolled through the pasture area with Swampert and Mudkip.

The pasture area was now completely covered in lush grass, ready to welcome more Pokémon or ordinary cattle and sheep.

Due to the Mudkip’s habits, though its usual food remained grass, mud was still an indispensable part of its existence.

Mudkip often needed to play in mud to relax and relieve anxiety; for Luo Mu, who was currently studying Pokémon psychology, creating a patch of mud was top priority.

Since Luo Mu personally selected the Mudkip, it naturally showed affection toward him before being chosen, making communication relatively easy.

Luo Mu told it to find its own preferred spot to create the mud patch, instantly energizing the Mudkip, which had previously been lethargic and almost dull.

The little donkey trotted happily, quickly finding a favored location right at the boundary between the pasture and the lake area.

Mudkip dug its head into the grass, swallowed a mouthful of soil, chewed briefly, then spat out soft, muddy sludge.

This wasn’t the move Mud Shot—it was merely a simple lump of mud Mudkip had made.

Mud, in simple terms, is soil mixed with water.

So, what needed to be done next was straightforward.

Luo Mu stepped back several paces with Mudkip, then looked at Swampert.

Swampert nodded in understanding, gathered its energy, deliberately reducing the power of its move, then—turbid water surged outward from Swampert, churning continuously.

In an instant, a small patch of murky mud formed.

Seeing the mud patch it had longed for, Mudkip first nuzzled Luo Mu’s pant leg affectionately, then couldn’t contain its excitement, bounding joyfully toward the mud and happily playing in it.

From now on, this mud patch would be Mudkip’s home.

Luo Mu believed more Pokémon would soon settle here.

Leaving Mudkip temporarily in Swampert’s care, Luo Mu hurried back home without delay.

Besides Mudkip, he still needed to arrange accommodations for the other three Pokémon.

Opening the door, he saw the Pokémon who had returned ahead of him—his gaze swept the room and quickly locked onto Minun, who was following the three Fluffpuffs like a little attendant.

The Fluffpuffs had just returned from the warehouse; their cotton-like fur naturally shed if unused, so they’d developed the habit of regularly going to the warehouse to shed it on schedule.

Seeming tired, the Fluffpuffs lined up like soldiers, moving in perfect unison to the third-floor balcony, where three appropriately sized flowerpots stood—on sunny days, they rooted themselves inside to rest, and at night, Luo Mu would carry the pots back indoors.

As usual, each Fluffpuff jumped into a flowerpot and rooted itself, leaving Minun behind, who looked around anxiously.

“Min...”

There were only three flowerpots; Minun, left alone outside, felt deeply uneasy.

Minun’s unease made the Fluffpuffs nervous too; remembering Luo Mu’s request to care for Minun, the lead Fluffpuff hesitated, then jumped out of its pot, intending to give its spot to Minun.

Minun hesitated, then, encouraged by the Fluffpuff’s voice, timidly hopped into the flowerpot.

Feeling the comforting solidity of the soil, Minun’s tension eased, its eyes relaxing into a contented squint.

Moments later, Minun opened its eyes and looked worriedly at the Fluffpuff, its expression tinged with guilt.

It had taken the Fluffpuff’s flowerpot—what would the Fluffpuff do now...?

“Fluff~”

The Fluffpuff, experienced in caring for young ones, smiled warmly, telling Minun not to worry.

Even if it gave up its spot, Luo Mu would surely provide another one later—the Fluffpuff understood this clearly.

Witnessing all of this, Luo Mu’s lips curled upward; he felt unusually pleased. With the Fluffpuffs looking after it, Minun would surely integrate into the farm quickly.

Turning away from the third floor, Luo Mu headed to the warehouse to search—he remembered buying extra flowerpots as backups.

On the first floor, his gaze swept past the living room, then paused in surprise at an unusual pairing.

The Flareon, looking noticeably rounder, was beside the point—what was trailing behind Kadabra? Wasn’t that Pichu?

Luo Mu recalled assigning Pichu to the steady butler Ralts—how had Pichu become Kadabra’s little shadow?
