Chapter 131: Dream, the True Combat Method of Heavenly Gods and Earthly Deities

~8 min read 1,428 words

Di Jun was not worried about Nüwa's choice; with Fuxi present, Nüwa would surely join, and as for Taiyi, he was his brother, naturally a part of the camp.

The only uncertain one, Qi, also finally made up his mind to join; Di Jun was naturally overjoyed, feeling that the great undertaking could be accomplished.

"Since you all have made up your minds, I will no longer hesitate; I will set up a banquet to celebrate. After the banquet, you may go, and I will guard Yunmze Marsh well for you, in anticipation of the great undertaking."

Qi smiled as he arranged the banquet, knowing that afterward everyone would go off to strive for their own goals, separated for a long time; when they would meet again was unknown.

Qi dreamed again, dreaming that the entire heaven and earth were engaged in a great battle, from the starry sky to Mount Buzhou, then spreading throughout the wilderness.

The war flames kept spreading, growing ever fiercer; stars fell from the sky, and the Nan Fang continent sank into the water.

"Could this be the true strength of the earth deities? Perhaps I was mistaken in the way of battle before; only by combining with a divine position can earth deities unleash their true combat power."

Qi still kept recalling the battlefield in his dream; now he still remembered that the earth had only that shattered lotus left, and the killing intent filling the sky.

Qi Xiang spat out a bright pearl from his mouth, moved his lips slightly against it, and all the water gods of the Yangtze's tributaries learned of the news of Yunmze Marsh.

The Yangtze lies downstream of Yunmze Marsh; Qi Xiang immediately sensed the agitation of Yunmze Marsh, though he was somewhat surprised, he paid it no mind.

She merely wondered why Qi had suddenly become like this; after all, in her impression, Qi was a god of relatively stable emotions, rarely causing turmoil.

A large amount of heavenly and earthly spiritual energy became violent, yet the spirit mechanism became active, gathering from heaven and earth toward Yunmze Marsh.

Qi gazed at Yunmze Marsh before him, discovering that it responded to his changes at all times, obeying his will and emotions.

The whole world seemed to split open; wherever one looked, there were slaughter battlefields, the heavenly and earthly Dao sounds echoed through the clouds, and the sorrowful intent never ceased.

Qi Xiang did not know what Yunmze Marsh was doing, but she knew that only by having these vapors fall into her hands could she quickly complete the vapor accumulation, preventing the Yangtze from facing the risk of drying up and interruption.

The waters of Yunmze Marsh seemed to respond to Qi's plea, no longer calm, raising astonishing waves.

In the sky, dark clouds began to spread, obscuring starlight and moonlight, as if returning to the time when Qi was born, when a sudden downpour fell and heaven and earth grew dim.

Walking within it, Qi's body trembled slightly, feeling as if his blood were boiling and burning.

Suddenly a thunderclap exploded, illuminating Yunmze Marsh; in that instant of light, one could see the turbid marsh water surging through the channels downstream.

Qi, for no reason, walked again toward the surroundings where the innate divine was being nurtured, but merely glanced at it before heading back into the marsh water.

Heavenly gods and earthly deities, cooperating with the power of heaven and earth within their domain, is the way they ought to fight; only with heaven and earth's support is it their true combat strength.

Previously, due to the backflow of the undying volcano, a large amount of vapor was consumed; although later heavenly rain fell, providing some replenishment.

Scales gleamed menacingly under the moonlight; yet in this solitary environment, Qi felt a sense of inner ease.

Qi had never felt so relaxed; the brutality in his heart and the accumulated gloom from his dreams all dissipated with the flood.

Qi muttered to himself.

Until Qi walked up to a withered lotus, the surrounding shattered space seemed to signify something; he reached out to touch it, and the dream instantly shattered.

The action of Yunmze Marsh's consciousness affirmed Qi's thought; it followed his will, manipulating heavenly and earthly power, so that in his every gesture he possessed the might to lift mountains and surpass seas.

At that moment Yunmze Marsh let the vapor flow out; they naturally also received release, although most would still follow the vapor to various places in the wilderness, but merely the diffused spirit mechanism that escaped was already enough for Yunmze Marsh to use.

Qi felt he should not remain so calm; the dream's content had mostly been forgotten, but that battlefield that made his blood boil, he could not forget that feeling for a long time.

The dark clouds in the sky continued to spread, the accumulated vapor in the water eyes receded little by little, centered on Yunmze Marsh, spreading toward the Four Rivers.

War cries kept coming, the air filled with killing intent that obscured the sky and covered the sun.

His wings spread, his serpent tail lightly swayed, slicing open the calm water surface; Qi had not realized, his true form grew ever more ferocious.

"Wind! Wind! Wind!"

Previously, the spirit mechanism carried by the water currents lay hidden within the vapor; as the vapor mingled and entwined, they became trapped in the water eyes.

"Too bad I don't know how long it can last; I only wish the time could be longer."

"Capture as much storable vapor as possible; afterward, three layers go to me, the remaining seven layers you keep yourselves; if you truly cannot store it, then distribute it to the other tributaries."

The surging water sound drowned out the thunder at the horizon, awakening the various water gods in seclusion.

As Qi's mood improved, Yunmze Marsh's spirit mechanism once again became abundant and lively.

Qi could sense that the water level of Yunmze Marsh was beginning to rise again, but he paid it no heed at all.

Di Jun, Taiyi, and Fuxi had already set out for the starry sky; Nüwa intended to walk alone in the wilderness for a while, and would depart soon.

"Since the backflow of the undying volcano, the Yangtze's vapor has been scarce; prioritize ensuring the main channel, do not hoard privately, be greedy for vapor."

Qi pondered a moment, then knew the reason.

Blood rain poured down upon the wilderness, corpses littered the ground, spirit mechanism was gone, and calamitous energy permeated.

Under the moonlight, Yunmze Marsh had nothing left but the sound of waves as before.

They began making full preparations, preparing to welcome this flood.

When Qi awoke, myriad years had passed; within the entire Yunmze Marsh only he and Nüwa remained.

"In the primordial chaos there is Dao; god and Dao are one—indeed it has come to this!"

After receiving the gods' responses, Qi Xiang then muttered:

"Seeing the flood now surging in, I only hope that Divine Qi can maintain this state a while longer; though it is shameless, but only a hundred years are needed, and the danger of the Yangtze's vapor shortage will be resolved."

Now Yunmze Marsh has opened its sluice early to release water; Qi Xiang is heartily welcoming it, for although the water looks turbid, it has all been purified.

Only Qi alone guards Yunmze Marsh; the Yunmze Star Array is still operating, twelve rounds of bright moon reflected in the sky above.

Qi had never understood those words from this angle; this change in his state of mind, however, made him think of a possibility.

Qi knew his current mindset was wrong, yet the vicious energy in his heart made him feel exceedingly refreshed; the consciousness of Yunmze Marsh appeared, surrounding him, likewise conveying a sense of joy.

In the sky, lightning flashed and thunder rumbled; the formerly clear lake water began to turn turbid and foul, constantly churning.

But at that time the most important thing was to release the flood; there was no time for them to convert the vapor, and the vapor that could be retained at ebb tide was merely a drop in the bucket.

Yet Qi did not know why he had never heard of such a combat method before, nor had any of the many earth deities he knew ever fought in this way.

This included the water gods of the Four Rivers and Three Waters, and the Ancestral Dragon; Qi had never seen them either.
