Chapter 16
Relying on the great formation to hold their position, Qi and the others survived a century of peace.
However, counting the days, the true assault is approaching soon; the ferocious beasts have already surrounded Yunmeng Ze.
According to calculations, eight yuan hui of the Great Calamity remain before it can end.
This is estimated from the beasts' advance speed; given their manner of travel, to have most gather in the Bei Fang Continent would take at least five yuan hui.
Gathering all the primordial wilderness ferocious beasts, this astonishing appetite, plus having to face the Great Calamity, the Bei Fang Continent will likely become a barren wasteland thereafter.
The barren soil cannot nurture wholesome life, nor is it suitable for the strong to settle.
Damage to the earth veins can still be repaired, but if the earth's spiritual essence is gone, it will be hard to endure.
Innate divinities establish Dao Chang in places rich with spiritual essence, preaching and taking disciples, because the abundance or scarcity of spiritual essence determines the number of talents in a region.
The Bei Fang Continent will likely have no strong Dao lineage in the future; the beings of Bei Fang will find it hard to pursue studies.
The weight of Dao lineage transmission makes it impossible for anyone to easily decide to settle in Bei Fang.
After all, all ferocious beasts of the primordial wilderness are in Bei Fang, and they will remain for at least two yuan hui, plus one yuan hui of decisive battle; the beings of Bei Fang suffer many calamities!
While Qi was estimating the great calamity from the beast tide outside the formation,
"How did the beast tide stop?" asked a tall, thin Daoist.
"I don't know, but stopping is good!"
The short, fat Daoist answered while summoning his own spiritual treasure, a bronze mirror.
"What's good?" the tall, thin Daoist wondered.
"Good to let me give this group of oviparous wet-born beasts a harsh lesson!"
Upon saying that, the mirror shot out brilliant divine light.
This divine light is not ordinary; it emits five colors, the five colors correspond to the five phases, and upon touching an object it transforms, the five phases circulating.
Using the mutual overcoming power of the five phases to injure enemies, all things under heaven belong to the five phases; whatever is within the five phases is overcome by this divine light!
Only see the divine light shining on the beast tide; instantly, people and horses are overturned, the beasts' miserable cries continue without end.
The weaker ferocious beasts, with slower reaction, are struck by this light, their skin splitting and flesh bursting; after a few more hits they turn into blood water, leaving only white bones on the spot.
Streams of divine light dart about within the beast tide, constantly reflecting, until a terrifying beast roar is heard.
The sound wave containing special power extinguishes the divine light.
A tremor capable of moving mountains and shaking the earth rang out; a giant beast over 150,000 zhang tall came charging at the two.
"Run!" shouted the short, fat Daoist.
"No need for you to tell me, I know!" replied the tall, thin Daoist while making hand seals.
A water ribbon appeared beside them, wrapping the two into a ball and vanishing into thin air!
It was as if there were a water eye in the air, causing the water to form a vortex that pulled them in, then they disappeared.
Seeing this, the giant beast let out an angry roar, yet did not stop its steps; another direction transmitted an explosion, so it could only rush over quickly.
In a long river billions of li away, the originally calm water surface suddenly produced a vortex; the plump and thin Daoist flew out from it.
"Pah pah pah, every time I have to drink a bellyful of water; you haven't improved your water escape technique at all!"
The plump Daoist complained.
"I've already improved it; being able to bring you along is already great progress! If not for this brood of wicked beasts, we might have succeeded."
Having said that, the two fell silent; they had originally been cultivating in the mountains, but were driven out by the beast tide invading the mountain.
Previously, those beasts looked down upon as fodder for the Dao Chang, after becoming a beast tide they drove them away, watching the Dao Chang be destroyed and the spiritual essence vanish.
Their hearts bled inwardly!
After so many yuan hui, the Dao Chang where they had lived since birth and awakening was simply destroyed, crude and brutal; how could they easily let the beast tide go?
Thus they followed behind the beast tide, striking whenever an opportunity arose.
But as the beast tide grew larger, stronger ferocious beasts appeared, and opportunities became fewer.
Yet there were also fellow Daoists cooperating tacitly, and they still managed to inflict considerable casualties.
Others do not know, but the two decided to pursue the beast tide until it entered the Bei Fang Continent.
By then they would be powerless to pursue; after all, though revenge is important, life is obviously more important.
The Dao Chang can be sought again; pursuing to the Bei Fang Continent also counts as fulfilling oneself.
Of course, they think this way, while some intend to fight the beast tide to the bitter end!
Many innate beings, they too count as innate divinities, only they chose to reproduce, turning from solitary individuals into a clan.
The strong like dragons, phoenixes, qilin, etc.; the slightly weaker such as the foxes of Qingqiu, teng snakes, white tigers, etc.
Their first generation are the purest innate divinities, but later generations will inevitably become ordinary beings.
Even if the bloodline is strong and power exceeds many innate divinities, it is still not an innate divinity.
Cultivation must be honed by oneself; opportunities must be seized by oneself.
Innate divinities, regardless of birth time or strength, are all nurtured by heaven and earth, flawless fruits of the Dao, peers on the same path.
Those innate divinities who have descendants, under the beast tide, can still manage to survive themselves.
If discovered late, most of the bloodline will not be preserved!
How much painstaking effort has been poured into the descendants who inherit one's Dao lineage and consolidate emotions?
Without them, basically all decide to fight the beast tide to the death.
Such innate divinities will likely undergo calamity and enter the Bei Fang Continent to truly experience tribulation!
While Qi remained in the formation, unaware, over ten innate divinities around the beast tide continually attacked and disturbed them.
A large part of them, after the great calamity ends, will no longer be known.
And in this great calamity, many innate divinities have dissipated into the Dao; when they will return is unknown.
At this moment, Qi and Taiyi and the others are still welcoming the newly arrived ferocious beasts.
===TITLE===
Unexpected Reinforcements and the "Crisis" of the Beings of Yunmeng Ze
It seems as if the beasts cannot be killed off, and this beast tide of the Cloud Dream Marsh is merely one of the twelve major beast tides coming from the Nan Fang Continent.
And the Nan Fang Continent is the smallest landmass of the Primeval Wasteland.
However, the ferocious beasts of the Nan Fang Continent, except for the ferocious beasts of the Bei Fang Continent this time, cause the greatest destruction to the Primeval Wasteland.
Because the route is the most distant and passes through the most mountains and rivers, the destruction is also the most severe.
Qi and the others are also now standing ready in formation; this kind of good time of killing by formation won't last long.
Once the beasts react, the subsequent beasts are estimated not to enter the formation again, and Qi will not let them enter the formation.
They might possibly attack the great formation from outside with divine abilities, and letting them in would inevitably lead to inside‑outside cooperation, increasing the difficulty.
In everyone's estimate, this kind of luring beasts into the formation to kill them probably won't last more than a few years, possibly less than ten years.
Nowadays, the beasts have basically surrounded the Cloud Dream Marsh; ten years is enough for them to completely encircle it, after which they can begin to bombard the great formation with divine abilities.
Therefore, the next few years are the last opportunity for all living beings of the Cloud Dream Marsh in this great calamity.
If one can seize it and survive, then after the calamity they will soar to great heights.
If one cannot seize it, all that remains for them is death!
PS: Continuing to shamelessly ask for votes, I hope everyone leaves more comments and gives more support; in a couple days it will get a bit better, and then I will try to update as much as possible.
