Chapter 1369: Fantasy Antique Shop Part-Time Log 03
"Wu Shu, do you think that girl will contact you later?" Luo Qiu asked.
"I'm not sure."
Ying Wu Shu sighed, then looked toward Jin Chen, "Can I take a look at the talisman you just made?"
Jin Chen pulled out another stack, shoved them all at him, "A greeting gift."
Ying Wu Shu: "..."
"Good, good, what an extravagant greeting gift."
"Is this the confidence of your clan's disciples?"
"Unlike ordinary runes, several kinds are ones Ying Wu Shu has never seen before, yet just holding them in hand gives a premonition of their tremendous power."
Ying Wu Shu organized the talisman papers Jin Chen had shoved over; there were twenty sheets, eight of which were runes he had never seen.
"Are you very interested in this?" Jin Chen asked suddenly, his cold voice tinged with curiosity.
Ying Wu Shu nodded without hesitation, his tone much more pleased, "I really want to learn these, but the books aren't complete."
"Thank you for the greeting gift; once I've learned them, I'll return these to you."
Jin Chen raised an eyebrow, "How fast can you draw talismans?"
Ying Wu Shu: "About ten or more minutes."
After he said that, a subtle silence spread within Pure Spirit Crossing.
Luo Qiu stared blankly at the two, continuing to pet the soundly sleeping divine beast.
Doubt and a hint of embarrassment appeared in Ying Wu Shu's clear eyes, "Is it too slow?"
Jin Chen chuckled low, "It's too fast."
"Being able to draw talismans is already rare; among ten Daoist masters, one or two might be considered geniuses, and even those geniuses often need tens of minutes to draw a talisman, and they're very likely to fail."
Ying Wu Shu had never heard of these before.
"I… I don't know."
"I thought learning from books was already quite slow."
Jin Chen's low voice carried a smile, then he added, "Boss Ying is outstanding among geniuses."
Jin Chen's gaze went deep, looking into Ying Shu's eyes; his unrestrained praise left him somewhat unable to respond.
"Thank you for the praise."
Ying Wu Shu lowered his eyes, the smile at the corner of his mouth lingering.
The autumn wind blew, and the wind chimes hanging before Pure Spirit Crossing rang.
"It's time to get off work!" Luo Qiu immediately perked up.
Ying Wu Shu tidied the tabletop and handed Jin Chen a key to Pure Spirit Crossing.
"Our place isn't far from here; let's go."
——
Xu Feifei rushed to the hospital; as soon as she entered the ward, Xu Yaozu began cursing at her.
"Dad is still in the hospital, what are you, a girl, running around outside for?! Shameless!"
Xu Yaozu's face was full of flab, his vicious gaze showing none of the youth of a fourteen‑year‑old boy.
Xu Feifei was already used to such talk; she pretended not to hear, walked toward the bed, but Mother Xu slapped her hard.
"What did you go out to do?! We've been in a car accident—how could you not be here?"
Xu Feifei stepped back half a step and whispered, "I… I can take care of you."
"Otherwise? Do you still want to sprout wings and fly?"
Mother Xu shoved her, "Go pour some hot water for Dad!"
"Dad is still unconscious; when he wakes up later he'll definitely want water!"
Xu Feifei hugged the hot‑water kettle; as she opened the ward door, she almost bumped into two police officers.
She hurriedly lowered her head to say sorry, quickly slipped out the door, but her steps stopped when she heard what the police were saying; she quietly leaned against the wall to listen.
Police: "Ms. Xu, we'd like to come find you to understand the accident's details."
Mother Xu changed her tone, but still not pleased: "We were the ones hit—what do you need to find out from us?"
Police: "This is the surveillance from the accident scene; with no obstruction, your car turned and rolled over as if it had been hit, but the other vehicle actually didn't touch yours at all."
"What?!"
Mother Xu snatched the phone and stared at it again and again: "Impossible! This surveillance must be fake! Clearly we were hit."
"You won't have taken the other side's money and tried to make us suffer a silent loss, will you? Their car is a Ferrari!"
The police officer's tone grew colder: "Ms. Xu, please calm down first."
"We've checked the surveillance from three angles around the accident site; the other vehicle truly didn't hit your car, and only after your car rolled over sideways did the other vehicle get struck."
"So we're here to obtain your consent and, together with the relevant technicians, inspect the internal facilities of your vehicle; the other side also takes this accident very seriously."
Mother Xu, however, couldn't take in a word: "Impossible! How could we have hit him? Could it be a ghost that hit me? How are you handling the case!"
Outside the ward, Xu Feifei suddenly gripped the kettle's handle, carefully slipped her hand into her pocket, and pinched the triangular talisman.
After thinking, she hurried to the boiler room to fill a kettle with hot water, ran back into the ward, and Xu Yaozu sat by the window munching chips, unconcerned.
"You lowly bitch, what are you doing coming in here? What business do you have!"
Mother Xu was already fuming; seeing Xu Feifei, she exploded instantly, not caring that the police were present, and raised her hand to strangle her.
"Ms. Xu!"
The police quickly stepped in, "What are you doing?"
Xu Feifei hid behind the officer, tears pouring down.
"Mom… I'm wrong, please don't hit me… I just wanted to care about Dad."
"If you want to fight… then, just go home and fight."
Xu's mother glared at her angrily, but in the end she swallowed her anger.
Xu Feifei wiped away her Tears, looking at the surveillance video playing in slow motion.
Xu's father was driving the white car turning left onto the street when the vehicle suddenly shuddered, as if something had pushed it from the right, causing it to overturn uncontrollably.
From start to finish, the Ferrari never touched the car's body; it simply drove past on the right.
Xu Feifei suddenly covered her mouth, her eyes filled with fear as she watched the scene.
What she saw was different.
As the white car turned, a dirty severed hand suddenly stretched out from underneath and shoved the car over violently.
That hand… that hand!
It had appeared at home before! The last time… it pushed Xu Yaozu down the stairs, leaving him bedridden for several days before he recovered.
Xu Feifei wanted to scream, but the pain from digging her nails into her palm kept her lucid.
When Xu Yaozu was injured that time, she finally got to eat a full meal, and wouldn't end up with half-eaten dishes lacking any vegetables.
If Father got into a car accident and had to be hospitalized, she could find time to go to the bookstore to study…
That would be a good thing.
That severed hand… was helping her.
Xu Feifei suddenly took a deep breath, her slightly gloomy gaze sweeping past her heavy bangs toward the bracelet Xu Yaozu was wearing.
The shop owner in that store was very interested in the bracelet; could it be… that the severed hand is also related to it?
