Chapter 2876: Why Does My Wife Follow Me Every Day 37

~6 min read 1,041 words

During the two days Jin Chen was on a business trip, Yun Jian hardly slept, taking Tan Quan and a few close aides, dragging out those remnants one by one and cleaning them up.

But even so, his contact with Jin Chen never ceased.

Yun Jian would occasionally send messages, sometimes complaining about how stubborn a few senior old-timers were, and more often acting coquettish.

-What are you doing?

-I miss you, have you eaten?

-It's cold sleeping alone.

-You're not here, I made too much soup, I really miss you.

Jin Chen's replies are always prompt; occasionally in the video he would deliberately tease him a couple of sentences, making the little rabbit on the other side of the screen blush and scold.

On the final day, the summit entered the closing ceremony segment.

The lengthy proceedings made Jin Chen feel extremely bored.

He glanced at the time; realizing he probably wouldn't have to wait until tomorrow and could go home early tonight, he sent Yun Jian a message.

-The closing ceremony is a bit boring; I'm coming back early, I should arrive around evening.

At the same time, at the other end of the city, in a dilapidated alley where an abandoned factory and an old residential area intersect.

Yun Jian finally caught the last batch of people.

They were three high-ranking beastmen, not weak in strength, but still no match for Yun Jian; under his aura they were forced to kneel on the ground, trembling all over.

Yun Jian stood before them, his black windbreaker stained with the blood of these few, unusually rich.

These guys not only tried to steal a batch of important supplies from A District, but when being captured they lashed out, actually attempting to strike at Jin Chen, who was attending the summit in the neighboring city.

"Yun Boss! Spare us! We dare not do it again! It, it was the B District Remnants who urged us!"

Yun Jian hadn't spoken yet when Tan Quan suddenly leaned in, "Yun Boss, your phone, it's Jin Chen!"

Yun Jian's motion paused; all the coldness and sinister look on his face vanished, and he raised his hand to signal silence.

Tan Quan understood, and together with a few subordinates he pressed down the other two beastmen to ensure they made no sound.

Yun Jian pressed the answer button, and his voice became gentle and soft.

"Jin Chen."

On the other end of the line, Jin Chen seemed to have said something.

Yun Jian smiled, eyes crinkling, his tone natural: "Ah, I was just wrapping a big bouquet of wedding flowers for a client, so busy I didn't see the message, and my phone was on silent."

He said while lowering his gaze, looking at the three beastmen still trembling on the ground.

Then Yun Jian lifted his foot and stepped on one of their faces.

The sole pressed against the person's face, slowly rubbing against the ground.

"Will you come back early? That's great!"

That beastman wanted to struggle, but Yun Jian's aura held him down so tightly he couldn't move a finger.

Yun Jian's tone was warm and eager: "All right, then I'll prepare the meal and wait for you to come home for dinner."

On the other end, Jin Chen seemed to have said something; Yun Jian's smile deepened, and he whispered a few affectionate words into the phone, causing subordinates with weaker composure to break out in goosebumps all over.

After a moment, Yun Jian reluctantly hung up, tossing the phone back to Tan Quan.

He lifted his foot; that beastman had already breathed his last.

"Mr. Yun, what should we do with the remaining people?" a subordinate asked.

Yun Jian lowered his eyes, glanced at them, and said, "Take them back to A District and use them as punching bags for the new enforcers."

"Yes." The subordinate responded, immediately calling to drag the people away.

Yun Jian then looked at Tan Quan, "Go buy some vegetables, go to the market, get the freshest sea bass and ribs, plus the few things Jin Chen likes, you know."

Tan Quan: "...... Okay."

He scratched his head, turned and left, walked a few steps, then couldn't help but look back.

Yun Jian still stood where he was, leisurely pulling a handkerchief from his pocket to wipe the blood from his hands clean.

The sunset's light fell on him, but it could not warm the cold killing intent on his body.

Tan Quan swiftly pulled out his own phone and replied to Jin Chen.

-Yun Boss is unharmed, though his lower back seems to have been sliced; I didn't look closely.

After sending it, Tan Quan hurriedly darted out of the alley to carry out the grocery errand.

Returning to the flower shop, Yun Jian immediately went upstairs, took a shower, washing away all the bloody smell and dust from his body, then changed into clean, soft loungewear.

He hummed a tune as he walked into the kitchen and began preparing dinner.

The dishes Jin Chen likes—he skillfully chopped the vegetables, put them in the pot, seasoned them; everything proceeded orderly, and the kitchen soon filled with aroma.

Yun Jian cooked while occasionally glancing at the clock on the wall.

Jin Chen said he'd come back early… he should be arriving soon, right?

Just as he was thinking, the sound of the door opening came from downstairs.

Yun Jian's eyes lit up; he immediately turned off the stove, took off his apron and casually draped it over the chair back, not even having time to wipe his hands, and hurriedly ran out of the kitchen.

Jin Chen happened to push the door open, still holding his suitcase.

"You're back!" Yun Jian happily lunged forward, burying his face in his shoulder, tightly wrapping his arms around his waist, "I've missed you so much."

Jin Chen set down his suitcase, returned the embrace, and gently patted his back with his palm.

"I miss you too," Jin Chen said, his voice carrying a smile, and he casually rubbed Yun Jian's lower back.

"What delicious things did you make? It smells wonderful."

Yun Jian lifted his head, '"All are your favorites; go wash your hands, dinner will be ready right away."'
